    Essex 101-0 v Somerset 433

Essex pass the 100-mark in exactly 21 overs as Paul Walter drives Tom Lammonby on the back foot through long off for four.

Walter is on 63. He reached 50 off 54 balls with his 11th four, punched through cover off the back foot, facing Lewis Gregory.

    Dean Elgar has 32.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Joe Clarkepublished at 14:23 BST

    Notts 163-2 v Warwicks 258

Clarke is forward to Taz Ali to drive through cover for four. He's on 49.

He reaches his 50 in 78 balls with a single pushed through cover point.

    Six fours in that knock.

  3. Sussex safe from relegationpublished at 14:19 BST

    Worcs 123 & 66-0 v Sussex 350

Alex: Don’t think you’ve mentioned it on the live text, but I believe Sussex are now officially safe with the bonus point from reaching 350?

You're spot on Alex - Sussex needed six points to ensure safety and they've achieved that through bonus points. Our BBC Sussex reporter Adrian Harms mentioned it in his post at 12:33 but very happy to confirm for all Sussex fans!

  4. 50 runs

50 for Libbypublished at 14:18 BST

    Worcs 123 & 65-0 v Sussex 350

A single off the bowling of Danny Lamb brings up a half century for Jake Libby, an innings in stark contrast to Worcs first effort on Wednesday morning.

In truth, there is none of the extravagant movement for Sussex's bowlers which characterised day one and, aside from a few short pitched balls, Libby has found this relatively easy.

It has taken 63 balls and contained eight fours and shows the benefit of a counter-attacking mindset.

  5. Postpublished at 14:15 BST

    Essex 86-0 v Somerset 433

Another leg side ball from Tom Lammonby and Dean Elgar helps the ball away fine for four.

    Essex looking solid this afternoon.

  6. Postpublished at 14:13 BST

    Notts 153-2 v Warwicks 258

    Halfway there!

(Notts need 300 inside 110 overs to secure the Championship title.)

Joe Clarke waits for spinner Taz Ali and drives down the ground for four to bring up the innings 150 in the 48th over.

  7. 'Patel will be livid with himself'published at 14:13 BST

    Hants 248 v Surrey 147 & 29-2

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's the same way Ryan Patel went against Nottinghamshire last week as well.

He likes to hook and pull, they set the trap for him.

    He'll be livid with himself.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14:12 BST

    Keogh LBW b Wright 28 (Northants 96-4 v Leics 429)

Second wicket of the innings for Chris Wright.

He angles a ball into Rob Keogh, who is beaten on the pad trying to push into the on side.

Looked to be in line with middle and leg.

    Justin Broad to bat next.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14:09 BST

    Patel c Fuller b Wheal 13 (Hants 248 v Surrey 147 & 29-2)

Ryan Patel has been suckered into this with a full-straight set up from Brad Wheal followed by a short one which he has pulled to deep midwicket.

Ryan Patel likes to take on the short stuff and has gone for the bait as Wheal puts it chest high on outside off stump.

Ideally he would have put it straighter but the Surrey man has reached for it anyway and sent it seven eighths of the way to the rope to James Fuller.

  10. Postpublished at 14:09 BST

    Notts 149-2 v Warwicks 258

Ethan Bamber is back into the attack and Joe Clarke drives to mid on for no run.

A straight drive off the next ball brings three after a dive in front of the boundary rope.

Single to Haseeb Hameed, pushing the ball late on the back foot to deep point.

  11. 'Best conditions of the match so far'published at 14:07 BST

    Notts 148-2 v Warwicks 258

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

This is definitely the best conditions of the match so far. Blue sky and a little bit of warm sunshine.

  12. Postpublished at 14:06 BST

    Essex 76-0 v Somerset 433

Somerset continue to ring the bowling changes and now Tom Lammonby is coming on, bowling a shade above military medium pace.

He starts well wide of leg stump and Paul Walter can't get a bat on it.

The fourth ball is pushed away off side for one.

Just the five bowlers used in the first 17 overs.

  13. Postpublished at 14:02 BST

    Notts 143-2 v Warwicks 258

Spinner Taz Ali is on and Joe Clarke is forward to defend into the leg side.

Ed Barnard bowls to Haseeb Hameed and the Notts captain chips the ball past him and down the ground for four.

Not quite out of the middle but runs notwithstanding.

Single run into the off side. Joe Clarke punches a single into cover and Hameed keeps the strike with a single pushed to mid off.

  14. 50 runs

50 via a six for Martin Anderssonpublished at 13:59 BST

    Kent v Derbyshire 633-5

Martin Andersson sends Matt Parkinson for a maximum to bring up his half-century in style.

Not a hint of nerves about reaching that particular milestone.

And to be honest he and Derbyshire have little to be nervous about.

Anuj Dal fancies a half-century too no doubt and is on a run-a-ball 37.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13:55 BST

    Sales b Wright 8 (Northants 95-3 v Leics 429)

Dragged on! A horrid way for a brief innings to end for James Sales.

Back of a length and well wide of the off stump from Chris Wright but a wicket nonetheless.

Time for Saif Zaib to have a bat.

  16. Postpublished at 13:54 BST

    Essex 57-0 v Somerset 433

Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory brings himself into the attack in place of Jake Ball.

Paul Walter tries to whip the ball away leg side but doesn't clear the field.

He gets the fifth ball way behind square leg for one.

Dean Elgar survives a big LBW shout on 24 to end the over.

Straight but looked a bit high.

  17. Derbyshire runs just keep on flowingpublished at 13:52 BST

    Kent v Derbyshire 617-5

Does anyone know how long Derbyshire plan to bat for?

I'm just wondering for the sake of Kent's poor bowlers.

The figures do not make for pretty reading.

  18. 'Neither side has batted well'published at 13:52 BST

    Hants 248 v Surrey 147 & 19-1

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

This hasn't been the game that we were expecting in the fact that neither side has batted very well.

This game is to be taken by the scruff of the neck at the moment.

  19. Postpublished at 13:50 BST

    Notts 127-2 v Warwicks 258

Tight! Joe Clarke is forward to Michal Booth, pushing into the off side for a single, just beating the return throw from mid off.

There's a few more spectators in this afternoon, compared to this morning.

One can only speculate as to the reasons why.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13:49 BST

    Wells lbw Crane 78 (Glamorgan 265 v Lancashire 205-4)

Glamorgan's Mason Crane has definitely been in the groove since lunch and has his second of the afternoon.

Crane gets one to turn in nicely and it raps Luke Wells on the pads in front of the stumps and up goes the umpire's finger.

Wells was the prize wicket for Glamorgan having made 78.

It's nicely poised now with Lancs trailing by 60, with six wickets intact.
