Warks 78 all out v Essex

    And that is that.

A five-for for Shane Snater who removes OHD lbw and well deserved.

A fine effort from Essex's bowlers.

  2. wicket

WICKET Wells lbw Overton 14published at 13:22 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 114-6 v Somerset

Two wickets in quick succession at the start of the afternoon session for Somerset, who have their second bowling point.

Craig Overton sends down a full-length inswinging delivery from round the wicket and Luke Wells is beaten on the inside edge as he tries to drive.

Overton now has 3-25 from 10.1 overs.

A boundary off Yuzi Chahal and Sol Budinger reaches his fourth first-class century from 82 balls faced.

He has curbed some of his natural attacking instincts in a good innings for his side, but Leicestershire will want him to build on this foundation and turn it into a 'biggie'.

  4. wicket

WICKET Hurst lbw Gregory 11published at 13:18 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 114-5 v Somerset

The lunchtime bowling practice pays off for Lewis Gregory.

Matt Hurst plays slightly down the wrong line and he is gone.

Lancashire in all sorts of trouble now as George Bell joins Luke Wells.

  5. Postpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 114-4 v Somerset

A reasonable first over after lunch from Craig Overton until he sends down a wayward final delivery which James Rew cannot reach diving across to the leg side and it rolls away for four byes.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Miles c Pepper b Porter 0published at 13:15 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 77-9 v Essex

Only seven balls into the second session and Warwickshire have lost two.

Craig Miles might not have thought he nicked that but the finger went up nonetheless and he is, belatedly, on his way.

Three figures is looking a long way off now.

  7. wicket

WICKET: Briggs c Pepper b Snater 4published at 13:13 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 77-8 v Essex

Another wicket for Snater in first over after lunch.

Amar Virdi kicks this back off with his off-spin to Nick Gubbins now the spectators have cleared the outfield.

It is an absolutely stunning day on the south coast. The blue skies are only punctuated by the odd fluffy cloud.

The figure in white on the Old Trafford outfield is Somerset captain Lewis Gregory.

He has cut short his lunch break to practise his bowling on one of the other strips here at Old Trafford.

His five overs this morning went for 31, including one in which Keaton Jennings hit four boundaries off him.

Let's see if it makes a difference in this next session.

As the Somerset players headed off for a bite to eat, a pair of wickets apiece for Craig Overton and Kasey Aldridge make it their morning here at Old Trafford.

The wicket of Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings just before lunch for 56 was the big one, though.

After putting their hosts in, Lewis Gregory and his men will feel confident about bowling their opponents out at some point today.

Lancashire have scored quite freely, but a first bonus point at 250 looks quite a long way off.

The weather is set fair, though, and the afternoon session should be the best time of the day to bat.

Lewis Gregory's correct call at the toss may prove to be one of the decisive factors in this game, judging by the way the Old Trafford pitch has behaved in the first session.

There has been plenty in it for the Somerset seamers, and Lancashire might have lost even more than four wickets, had Kasey Aldridge been able to cling onto an edge off Keaton Jennings from the very first ball of the day.

Jennings went on to a seventh score of 50 or more for the season, but when Aldridge secured at least partial redemption by bowling him off an inside edge, it made it definitively Somerset's morning.

    Glamorgan v Yorkshire 100-2 - lunch

Adam Lyth reached 1,000 first-class runs for the season as Yorkshire had the better of the morning session after being put in to bat in the Cardiff sunshine.

The promotion-chasing visitors had few alarms in the opening hour with a stand of 67 between Lyth and Finlay Bean, who was eventually trapped lbw by seamer Andy Gorvin for 23.

Lyth was looking good for a half-century but fell in the same way for 46, with the third-wicket pair of James Wharton and captain Jonny Tattersall bringing up the 100 in the final over the season.

Both sides have opted for two specialist spinners, while 20-year-old seamer Ben Morris is making a first-class debut for Glamorgan.

  16. Lunch at Wantage Roadpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 17 September

    Northants v Leics 98-3

The loss of Lewis Hill in the penultimate over may have made Leicestershire's lunch slightly less palatable at Wantage Road.

But Sol Budinger plays out a maiden from Yuzi Chahal to end the session on 46 not out - just four runs short of what would be his fourth half-century in red-ball cricket.

Rehan Ahmed is his latest partner, but he has yet to score.

  17. Lunch at Derbypublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 17 September

    Derbys 99-2 v Middx

Harry Came moved to 50 on the stroke of lunch and that’s a solid session for Derbyshire having won the toss.

  18. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 17 September

    Surrey v Durham 84-3

    A very even session.

Perhaps that late wicket of Alex Lees gives Surrey the edge?

It was a good start for Durham but the leaders have enjoyed a better second hour.

  19. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 68-6 v Sussex

Zafar Gohar plays out a maiden from Jack Carson but it has very much been Sussex's morning at Bristol.

Gloucestershire lost both openers within five overs after choosing to bat first and the decline continued through the session, with Miles Hammond (22) the only batsman to pass 20.

Jaydev Unadkat has 4-29 for the Division Two leaders, who already have two points in the bag as they look for an eight win of the season.

  20. Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glam v Yorks 100-2

Honours just about Yorkshire's way after being put in as they go for lunch at a gloriously sunny Cardiff.

James Wharton and skipper Jonathan Tattersall are unbroken for the third wicket after Yorkshire's openers got the visitors off to a solid start.

For Glamorgan it has been hard graft after electing to bowl, Andy Gorvin's bustling seam picking off the two wickets to fall.
