  1. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 107-4 v Somerset

A productive final over of the morning at Old Trafford adds 10 to the Lancashire total, including a Matty Hurst boundary.

But title-chasing Somerset will be satisfied at picking up four wickets in a session which did not see a single delivery from their spinners, who did all the damage against Surrey last week.

Keaton Jennings made 56 for Lancashire, but they need a substantial stand if they are going to post a decent first-innings total.

Luke Wells is 14 not out and Hurst has eight at the interval.

  2. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 73-7 v Essex

The hosts have much to ponder as they sit down to refuel and they may well be wondering how a four-day game can slip in one session.

Essex's attack has been simply outstanding, Jamie Porter and Sam Cook setting the tone giving nothing away with the new ball and picking up four between them.

But Shane Snater, with 3-9, has arguably been the pick.

  3. Lunch at Utilitapublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 105-2 v Worcs

Tom Taylor nabbed out both Hampshire openers.

But since then James Vince and Nick Gubbins have shown off their magisterial experience.

Vince in on 32 and Gubbins on 45.

  4. wicket

WICKET: Burgess b Cook 17published at 12:30 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 73-7 v Essex

Outstanding performance from Essex as they take a seventh on the stroke of lunch, Michael Burgess losing his middle stump to Sam Cook.

  5. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 134-0

Kent are on their way to Division Two and sessions like this are a good way of explaining why that is happening.

They managed to get Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed playing and missing fairly often but never built any pressure with a significant number of boundary balls - summed up by two Slater boundaries in the final over before lunch.

Slater, who was dropped on 41, and Hameed have played some lovely shots but it hasn't been overly tough for them.

An interval might be just the tonic for Kent to regroup.

  6. wicket

WICKET Hill b Keogh 32published at 12:29 British Summer Time 17 September

    Northants v Leics 96-3

Just a few minutes from lunch and Leicestershire lose their third wicket at Wantage Road.

Lewis Hill drives at a floated delivery from Rob Keogh, which turns just enough to take the inside edge as it finds a way through to the stumps.

  7. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 17 September

    Northants v Leics 85-2

Sol Budinger is only playing his second Championship game of the season but he's doing a valuable job for Leicestershire here.

A single from the latest Rob Keogh over takes him to 40 not out and Lewis Hill is on 28 at the other end - they have added 40 together since the departure of Ian Holland.

    Warks 65-6 v Essex

Another for Snater as the Essex charge continues.

The seamer now has 3-9 from his six overs and he won't bowl a much better one than that, straightening on Will Rhodes and clipping the edge.

Rhodes, on his last outing at Edgbaston as a Bear before decamping to Durham next season, falls short of 1,000 runs for the season.

He needs another 17 in the second innings to make the milestone but the way things are going for Warwickshire it could have to come in a rearguard.

  9. Postpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 87-4 v Somerset

Craig Overton returns for a short burst before the lunch interval.

Matt Hurst takes one from his first delivery and Luke Wells tucks him down to fine leg later in the over to get off the mark.

Accurate stuff, as you would expect, from the England paceman.

  10. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 101-2 v Worcs

This is more than just a good recovery from Nick Gubbins and James Vince.

It has looked difficult to time the ball earlier on but now things are flowing nicely for the hosts.

Gubbins reverse sweeps a boundary before a tuck to short fine leg takes the score through three figures.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Lees b Worrall 36published at 12:21 British Summer Time 17 September

    Surrey v Durham 79-3

Big wicket as we tick towards lunch.

Dan Worrall with his second wicket.

    Surrey on top now?

  12. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 115-0

More no ball woes for Akeem Jordan.

He's delivered five of them in his seven overs today. The slope is causing him trouble.

The West Indian has gone for 47 runs in two spells this morning.

  13. wicket

WICKET: Lyth lbw b Gorvin 46published at 12:15 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glam v Yorks 85-2

Andy Gorvin has a second as Adam Lyth falls four short of a half century, falling over himself as he tried to jab the bat down and pinned in front of middle and leg.

Reward for a bustling all-action spell from Gorvin and just the boost Glamorgan needed around a quarter of an hour before lunch.

One more might level the session.

  14. wicket

WICKET Jennings b Aldridge 56published at 12:13 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 85-4 v Somerset

Keaton Jennings howls in anguish as he tries another square cut and chops the ball into his stumps.

In truth, that delivery from Kasey Aldridge wasn't really wide enough for the shot and Somerset are well on top as Luke Wells comes out at number six instead of his usual position at the top of the order.

  15. 50 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 84-3 v Somerset

You can't bowl there to Keaton Jennings.

The left-hander square cuts Brett Randell for four and goes to 50 from 65 balls faced.

He adds two more from the next delivery and that is 1,000 Championship runs for the season for him.

  16. Postpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 79-3 v Somerset

Great shot by Keaton Jennings, who stands tall and thumps Kasey Aldridge away square of the wicket for his eight boundary of the morning and adds a single to reach 49 not out.

  17. wicket

WICKET: Gay lbw b TK Curran 0published at 12:07 British Summer Time 17 September

    Surrey v Durham 69-2

Tom Curran fancies a bit of red-ball cricket again after so long out.

He had a good return last week at Somerset and then makes the second breakthrough for Surrey here.

Emilio Gay, on debut for Durham, shoulders arms but is done by some big inswing from round the wicket.

Height is not a problem. The only question is whether it was doing too much and going down leg but the replay suggests not.

  18. wicket

WICKET O Price c Simpson b Unadkat 11published at 12:05 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 51-6 v Sussex

What a difference three days makes.

The T20 Blast winners are in disarray at the moment as Ollie Price becomes Jaydev Unadkat's fourth victim of the morning.

He clearly wasn't watching when Graeme van Buuren was strangled down the leg side, because he tries the same pull shot and suffered the same fate.

Sussex now two points closer to Division One.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Barnard lbw b Snater 1published at 12:02 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 54-5 v Essex

From bad to worse for the hosts.

Shane Snater has got his second beating the defensive prod of Ed Barnard and hitting with one that nips back in front of leg.

This Warwickshire innings has a terminal feeling about it already.

  20. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 84-2 v Worcs

Hampshire picked Felix Organ and Liam Dawson in this match so that gives a hint that it might be spin to win across the four days.

Amar Virdi is the first twirler to get a go though. He enters for the 21st over.

A solid, if uneventful, over until the final ball drag down that James Vince isn't going to miss out on.
