    Lancs 42-2 v Somerset

An lbw shout goes up as Keaton Jennings plays all around a near yorker-length delivery from Craig Overton.

The umpire decides it was missing leg stump and the Lancashire opener survives.

  2. wicket

WICKET Hammond c Carson b Unadkat 22published at 11:24 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 30-3 v Sussex

    First bonus point for Sussex.

Miles Hammond departs in the 13th over of the morning, caught at mid-wicket, as Jaydev Unadkat claims his second victim.

    Loose shot that one.

  3. dropped catch

    Kent v Notts 65-0

Kent need snookers to stay in Division One and to do so they need a pair of wins in the last two matches of the season.

They need to make their own luck and certainly not put down regulation chances.

But Jack Leaning has floored Ben Slater at second slip off George Garrett. Knee-height and straight in. Notts really should be one down.

    Lancs 41-2 v Somerset

Their dads were once England team-mates.

Rocky Flintoff clips away his first delivery from Craig Overton but is denied runs by Archie Vaughan at mid-wicket.

    Warks 27-3 v Essex

    Edgbaston Cricket Ground

Essex's opening pair have bowled beautifully this morning, Jamie Porter and Sam Cook asking questions of the Warwickshire top order with virtually every ball.

The sun is shining, the pitch looks helpful and the ball is doing a bit for sure but you still have to put it in the right place and they have done just that.

They have bowled 50 dot balls out of 60.

  6. wicket

WICKET Bohannon c Rew b Overton 4published at 11:17 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 41-2 v Somerset

Another good one from Craig Overton finds the edge at the start of a new over, but it flies wide of the cordon and there are two runs for Josh Bohannon.

No escape two balls later, though, as a magnificent leg-cutter is his undoing, with keeper James Rew claiming a straightforward catch moving to his right.

    Here comes 16-year-old Rocky Flintoff.

    Hampshire 42-2 v Worcs

Nick Gubbins cuts two powerful boundaries off Logan van Beek.

His soft-handed edge through gully is less comprehensive, but he'll take those four runs all the same.

He and James Vince are showing the green shoots of recovery after watching Hampshire's two young openers depart early on.

  8. Postpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 37-1 v Somerset

The wicketkeeper is standing up to Lewis Gregory's medium pace.

Somerset's all-rounder overpitches and Keaton Jennings drives it elegantly for four just to the on-side of the stumps at the bowlers' end.

  9. wicket

WICKET: Reece c Davies b Higgins 20published at 11:15 British Summer Time 17 September

    Derbys 26-1 v Middx

    Ryan Higgins strikes for Middlesex.

But Luis Reece can't believe he's been given out caught behind!

It's a full ball slid across the left-hander and is very, very close to the outside edge as it goes through to Jack Davies.

The bottom of Reece's bat is also very close to the bottom of his front pad.

Reece obviously felt he flicked his pad.

But Middlesex went straight up and so did the umpire's finger.

  10. 6 runs

Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 23-2 v Sussex

We saw plenty of that from Miles Hammond at Edgbaston on Saturday.

Henry Crocombe is on as first change for Sussex and his second delivery is deposited beyond the rope for six.

  11. 50 runs

50 partnership between Hameed and Slaterpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 53-0

Ben Slater has found things very very very easy this morning.

He's dispatched any width to the boundary, he's already got eight fours to his name. Hameed is slightly more circumspect with 12 off 25.

This has not been the start Kent would have envisaged when they stuck the visitors in.

The only trouble Slater has been in was a mix-up with Hameed. A glove-breaking dive gets him back, although Harry Finch's throw missed the stumps.

  12. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 17 September

    Northants v Leics 19-1

Nine overs gone at Wantage Road following a maiden from Jack White to Sol Budinger.

The left-hander, though, has three boundaries already and is 13 not out.

  13. Near thingpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 30-1 v Somerset

Craig Overton almost has his second success at Old Trafford but an edge by Keaton Jennings touches the ground millimetres in front of the fingers of fourth slip, who doesn't take it cleanly anyway. It runs away for a single and Jennings is 18 not out.

  14. Postpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 45-0

Akeem Jordan never found his straps this morning. His three overs went for 36.

So he is replaced by Nathan Gilchrist, with the search on for some control.

A big appeal first up from Gilchrist but the ball had pitched outside the leg stump of the left-handed Ben Slater.

A wider delivery outside off stump is tucked to the boundary by the proactive Slater - he has 27 off 28 balls.

  15. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glam v Yorks 20-0

Yorkshire are off to a brisk start here and they are not much in the mood for running either with all of their runs coming from boundaries.

Adam Lyth is unleashing a flurry of typically elegant cover drives against Timm van der Lugten to get to double figures.

And Finlay Bean joined him whipping a lovely cut off James Harris through point and has just pumped the Glamorgan seamer for another.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Hain lbw b Cook 0published at 11:01 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 18-3 v Essex

Sam Cook takes a wicketImage source, Rex

This is fast turning into a terrible start for the hosts as Sam Hain is trapped leg before for a duck by Sam Cook.

That was sharp late movement and the batsman might have argued that was doing a little too much perhaps.

Whatever, he's gone and Warwickshire's innings is a spot of bother before the dew has properly burned off.

  17. Postpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 40-0

George Garrett is convinced he has dismissed Haseeb Hameed.

In Garrett's mind, the former England opener has edged him behind, but in reality that has fairly clearly clipped the pads on the way through Harry Finch,

  18. Postpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 17 September

    Surrey v Durham 25-0

Good early signs here for Durham.

Not much movement for the bowlers and each opener has now found the boundary.

Ben McKinney played a smart short-arm pull off Dan Worrall through midwicket.

And Alex Lees has driven Jordan Clark and then Worrall through cover-point.

The second of those drives was very impressive indeed from just full of a good length. Confident stroke.

  19. Postpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 23-2 v Worcs

James Vince changed his bat between overs as well.

If there is any smoke from the Hampshire dressing room, they are probably having a bonfire!

  20. wicket

WICKET Singh c Lammonby b Overton 7published at 10:59 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 21-1 v Somerset

    Craig OvertonImage source, Rex Features

    Gone.

Harry Singh attempts an unconvincing drive at a ball from Craig Overton and a thick edge is safely taken in his midriff by Tom Lammonby at third slip.

Disappointment for the debutant. Josh Bohannon replaces him at the crease.
