  1. wicket

WICKET Alsop c Gohar b O Price 37published at 17:50 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 109 v Sussex 143-4

Sussex lose their fourth wicket with less than three overs remaining at Bristol as Tom Alsop tries to cut off-spinner Ollie Price but is caught at backward point.

He'll be disappointed by that and Sussex send out Henry Crocombe as nightwatch to - hopefully - keep James Coles company through to stumps.

  2. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 17 September

    Northamptonshire 134-3 v Leicestershire 203

Just a single for James Sales from the final over of the day, bowled by Rehan Ahmed, at Wantage Road.

It's a day in which Northants, for the most part, have had the upper hand with spinner Yuzi Chahal and Rob Keogh sharing seven wickets as Leicestershire were bowled out in 62.3 overs.

The home side were 92-3 in reply after decent knocks of 38 and 37 by Luke Procter and Gus Miller, but James Sales (34 not out) and Keogh saw it through to stumps with an unbroken stand of 42.

  3. Postpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 146

So, 20 wickets already taken - 12 overs left following the change of innings.

Winning the game is now Somerset's sole focus. And a breakthrough or three before the close will be their immediate aim.

Harry Singh opens the batting for the second time today in his first Championship game for Lancashire.

  4. wicket

WICKET: Coad c Ingram b Gorvin 14published at 17:46 British Summer Time 17 September

Glam v Yorks 361 all out

Andy Gorvin wraps up the Yorkshire innings with Ben Coad driving loosely and edging to Colin Ingram at second slip.

Yorkshire will be thankful that they crept over the line for a third batting point but at 178-2 and 296-5 might feel they could have had reached 400.

Excellent effort from Gorvin who finishes with 4-67.

  5. Postpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 384-5

Three overs left at Canterbury but nightwatcher Luke Fletcher isn't batting out for the day. Back-to-back boundaries takes him to a run-a-ball 10.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Cook b Miles 0published at 17:44 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 78 v Essex 172-9

Tentative prod forward but too late to beat an arrow straight delivery from Miles.

  7. 50 runs

partnership for Sussexpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 109 v Sussex 143-3

James Coles hits three successive fours off Tom Price as he and Tom Alsop post a 50 partnership for Sussex's fourth wicket.

The latest over is a maiden from Ollie Price and there are four more to go, with Tom Alsop 37 not out and Coles on 32.

  8. wicket

WICKET: Hill c Cooke b van der Gugten 90published at 17:42 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glam v Yorks 357-9

That has been a decent knock from Keighley-born George Hill but he falls short of a fifth first class hundred and spins his bat in the air in frustration.

He was just undone by one which left him slightly, Chris Cooke taking a low catch with two hands behind the stumps.

  9. wicket

WICKET Leach c Hurst b Phillip 13published at 17:39 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 146

Anderson Phillip is struggling with his line, with a left-right combination at the crease.

Jack Leach drives and adds four to third man.

Phillip wasn't impressed with that and digs the next one in short and Leach fends it to keeper Matty Hurst, who takes his fifth catch of the innings.

The Somerset lead is six runs and it means that should they go on to win this match, they will take 19 points.

  10. Close of play at Utilitapublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 373-4 v Worcs

Today belongs to Nick Gubbins, Liam Dawson and Hampshire.

Gubbins put on century stands with James Vince and Dawson to underline the day.

Worcestershire haven't done much wrong, but the pitch has got better and better throughout the day.

  11. 150 runs

150 for Nick Gubbinspublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 373-4 v Worcs

    Nick Gubbins keeps on trucking.

  12. Postpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 140-9

Too much width from Anderson Phillip and Lewis Gregory smites it powerfully through the covers for four. No stopping that one.

A leg bye follows and the scores are level - though Somerset probably won't take too much comfort from that.

  13. wicket

WICKET Haynes c Muyeye b Gilchrist 62published at 17:34 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 373-5

Jack Haynes doesn't want to touch it but can't keep his bat away from Nathan Gilchrist's delivery to edge to first slip.

Luke Fletcher was on the BBC radio coverage about three overs ago, now he's got his pads on and is nightwatchmaning.

  14. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 135-9

Jack Leach drives at Tom Bailey and a thick edge flies past the slips for four. He wasn't in control of that one.

Good timing by Leach later in the over as he adds four more through backward point - an authentic stroke from the tail-ender.

  15. 100 runs

100 for Liam Dawsonpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 361-4 v Worcs

What an innings from Liam Dawson.

It has had graft, it has had flair and it has loads of runs.

He had no thought about the nervous 90s either. He went from 90 to 96 with a huge six over square before following it up with a drilled cover drive for four.

A great landmark day for Dawson, who went past 10,000 first-class runs earlier in his innings.

  16. Postpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 127-9

Lewis Gregory takes one from the first ball of Anderson Phillip's over, exposing Jack Leach to the strike.

Lancashire have a leg-slip in place as Phillip digs one in towards the left-hander's hip.

Leach, though, manages to push a single and hand the responsibility back to Gregory.

Phillip is short and wide with his final ball and Gregory cracks it away for four, progressing to 26 not out.

  17. 50 runs

50 partnership between Haynes and Jamespublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 367-4

It still feels rather easy for Nottinghamshire as Jack Haynes and Lyndon James put on 50 in next to no time. Seven left at Canterbury today.

  18. wicket

WICKET Randell lbw Bailey 0published at 17:22 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 121-9

Two in the over for Tom Bailey - that one with a far more orthodox delivery.

Somerset number XI Jack Leach comes to the crease with his side in danger of trailing on first innings.

  19. Postpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 17 September

In case you were wondering, Surrey and Somerset have each taken three bonus points with the ball today - so the gap between them at the top of the Division table remains at eight.

  20. wicket

WICKET: Fisher c Northeast b van der Gugten 10published at 17:21 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glam v Yorks 338-8

    Straightforward catch at second slip.

An airy waft from Matthew Fisher takes a healthy edge and flies at a catchable height to the Glamorgan captain in the cordon.
