    Surrey v Durham 190-5

This has been a great opening day so far with both sides enjoying moments of ascendency.

Back come Durham, true to form, playing their positive way as Conor McKerr goes for four boundaries in two overs.

Bas de Leede edged him just out of the reach of a diving second slip before Colin Ackermann pulled him hard through square leg and drove him down the ground for four more.

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 27-1

An early bowling change by Lancashire as George Balderson is introduced.

The all-rounder hustles the ball on to Tom Lammonby and an accurate over is rewarded with a maiden.

  3. wicket

WICKET McCann c Leaning b Gilchrist 8published at 14:51 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 212-2

Freddie McCann never looked settled in his short innings.

Joey Evison gave him a working over with plenty of nibbles outside the off stump and now Nathan Gilchrist has come on and nicked him off to second slip.

Redemption for Jack Leaning after his drop earlier today.

  4. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 188-4 v Worcs

Nick Gubbins strokes through the off side on the back foot.

That's the 10th boundary of a really classy innings. Hampshire will need him to stick around for a long period to put pressure on Worcestershire.

  5. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 27-1

Mature stuff so far from Archie Vaughan, leaving anything he doesn't need to play, but looking to put away anything loose.

He picks up his fourth boundary off Tom Bailey and advances to 17 not out.

  6. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 109 v Sussex 12-0

Two fours in three balls off Tom Price for Tom Haines and Sussex reach double figures after four overs of their reply.

    Warks 78 v Essex 50-5

    The wickets continue to fall.

You could have got long odds on Essex not getting a first innings lead but it may be in some doubt now as the 15th wicket falls before tea.

Chris Rushworth got a bit of bounce and late movement to grab Thain's outside edge and the ball flies high to Rob Yates at second slip.

  8. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 204-1

Kent have wrestled a little bit of control since that Haseeb Hameed dismissal.

Matt Parkinson has been the main long-term bringer of that with 13 runs off his five overs, but Joey Evision has yet to concede a run since that wicket.

  9. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 18-1

Good over for Somerset as Tom Lammonby collects two fours off Tom Bailey - a cover drive and leg glance. He moves into double figures and Archie Vaughan is still on eight.

  10. wicket

WICKET: Bairstow c Kellaway b Gorvin 2published at 14:36 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glam v Yorks 183-4

An all too brief glimpse of Bairstow.

Even the home crowd might have been looking forward to seeing a bit of the former England man cutting loose.

But he has leapt on a half-volley outside off and driven straight into the hands of Ben Kellaway who has held on to a sharp chance at backward point.

It was probably there to be hit but he managed to pick out the fielder who would not have stood a chance had it been a yard either side.

That is three for Andy Gorvin.

  11. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 10-1

Was that deliberate by Archie Vaughan? Perhaps he might say so.

He deflects a wide ball from Anderson Phillip over the slips for the second four of his innings.

  12. ouch!

Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 174-4 v Worcs

Ethan Brookes nips one back sharply and Nick Gubbins was not expecting it.

He was exposed and the ball caused maximum pain.

As a harsher member of the press box says: "At least he had a child earlier in the summer."

  13. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 17 September

    Surrey v Durham 163-5

South African Colin Ackermann and Dutchman Bas de Leede are trying to get Durham going again after the loss of two quick wickets.

De Leede has taken two flicked boundaries off his pads, the first just out of the reach of a diving Ben Foakes, before squeezing a low edge past third slip for four more.

Ackermann got very lucky with an edge off Sam Curran that would have flown straight to third slip had one been in place, but then timed a much better drive off Dan Worrall through extra-cover for another boundary.

  14. Postpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glos 109 v Sussex 2-0

With no Daniel Hughes in the team for this game, Sussex send out Oli Carter as Tom Haines' opening partner.

Just a couple for Carter from the first over, bowled by Dom Goodman.

  15. wicket

WICKET Cox b Chahal 25published at 14:31 British Summer Time 17 September

    Northants v Leics 178-7

Ben Cox and Liam Trevaskis are trying to steady the Leicestershire ship following the loss of two wickets in successive overs.

But Cox goes back to try and pull Yuzi Chahal and is bowled by one that hurries on quicker than he expected.

  16. wicket

WICKET Brown c Roderick b Virdi 18published at 14:27 British Summer Time 17 September

    Hampshire 174-4 v Worcs

No doubt about this Hampshire wicket.

Ben Brown tries to give himself space to dab down to third but thinly edges Amar Virdi to Gareth Roderick.

Hard to tell how good a pitch this is, but you'd fancy Hampshire would want more than 300.

  17. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 17 September

    Lancs 140 v Somerset 4-1

Nice shot by Archie Vaughan, who gets Somerset moving with a square cut for four off Anderson Phillip.

Last week he was a bowling hero - what can he do with the bat this week?

  18. wicket

WICKET: Tattersall c Cooke b Crane 41published at 14:26 British Summer Time 17 September

    Glam v Yorks 178-3

    What has gone on there?

Jonathan Tattersall looked to hoik-sweep that but managed to inside edge it with Chris Cooke surprising himself by hugging the ball in behind the stumps.

Much needed breakthrough given the Yorkshire pair had put on 93 for the third wicket.

That wicket brings Jonny Bairstow to the crease.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Walter b Barnard 0published at 14:25 British Summer Time 17 September

    Warks 78 v Essex 49-4

    Absolute beauty from Ed Barnard.

That has pitched well outside off and jagged back ferociously to ping top of off stump.

Not a nice ball to face when set but Paul Walter was two balls into his innings.

  20. wicket

WICKET Hameed b Evison 56published at 14:24 British Summer Time 17 September

    Kent v Notts 196-1

    A WICKET! FINALLY!

Joey Evison has made the breakthrough in the 45th over, with Notts already sticking 196 runs on the board.

It is a tasty delivery to kiss the top of off stump to see off Haseeb Hameed.

Freddie McCann in next after three hours of pad rash.
