    Notts needed that wicket.

That's their first of the afternoon and that's two wickets for Calvin Harrison.

They'll be disappointed if they don't get topside of 350 from here I'd imagine.

  2. Gloucestershire due a win at Northantspublished at 15:38 10 May

    Northants v Glos 202-4

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

The last time Gloucestershire won a Championship match at Wantage Road was August 2010.

    It's been a little while.

  3. 200 up for Glospublished at 15:37 10 May

    Northants v Glos 202-4

Miles Hammond is on to 71 from 85 balls but Glos have lost James Bracey who was out lbw to an excellent, full delivery from Siddarth Kaul who now has 3-43 on his Northants debut.

It was a boundary from new batter Graeme van Buuren which took the visitors over the 200-run threshold.

  4. Good numbers at the Spitfire Ground St Lawrencepublished at 15:36 10 May

    Kent v Worcestershire 194-2

On the field it's pretty much been Worcestershire's day since they won the toss at 10:30 BST but off it the Kent faithful have turned out in force for the opening day of this game, making the most of the glorious early summer weather.

A crowd in excess of 1,000 on a weekday afternoon is very healthy, though the ice creams being put away by many of them are possibly slightly less so...

  5. WICKET: Jennings c Moores b Harrison 91published at 15:33 10 May

    Notts v Lancashire 190-3

He is fuming and not suprisingly so when you hear the stories of him being coached by his dad as a youngster which he credits for the usual great discipline he plays with today.

Not a dismissal he will want to watch back, reversing Calvin Harrison straight to slip for 91.

Tom Moores, the spare wicketkeeper, takes it comfortably enough without gloves on straight in his midriff.

  6. Ali putting his Orr in at Southamptonpublished at 15:27 10 May

    Hants 174-2 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Until today Ali Orr's best score in a Hampshire shirt had been 26.

But after a frustrating start to the season, the former Sussex batsman has reached his first century for his new side.

He batted nicely through the morning. He was watchful and had 52 on the board from 99 balls come lunch. His century came in 168 deliveries and included 16 fours.

There was a scare just after lunch when he edged Matty Potts through the slip cordon for four, in an over which conceded four of them, as the bowler showed his frustration at a chance gone.

There was at least one scare when he got into the 90s. A leading edge from a Callum Parkinson ball just dropped in front of Ben Raine at short mid-wicket. It was heart-in-the-mouth stuff for Orr for a few moments.

  7. 100 partnership between Jennings and Baldersonpublished at 15:27 10 May

    Notts v Lancashire 186-2

The first 100-run partnership of the match, in 158 balls, they came together for the afternoon session after Josh Bohannon was lbw to what became the last ball before lunch.

  8. WICKET: Bethell c Pope b Roach 1published at 15:27 10 May

    Surrey v Warwickshire 167-6

Kemar Roach gets one to swing away from the left-hander, finds the outside edge as Jacob Bethell tries to drive, the ball flies towards the sternum of Dom Sibley at slip but Ollie Pope is there to spare his blushes at second slip, pouching the deflection.

A second bonus point for Surrey. The other seven sides in Division One action today have zero between them.

Michael Burgess is the next in line for Warwickshire. They'd love to get to 250 and even one bonus point at this stage.

  9. Postpublished at 15:26 10 May

    Glamorgan v Sussex 140-7

It's getting worse for Sussex here and Glamorgan are absolutely flying!

Mir Hamza now has four wickets after trapping James Coles lbw and that was swiftly followed by James Harris accounting for Danny Lamb who didn't get off the mark.

The Division Two leaders are on the ropes at Sophia Gardens.

  10. 50 partnership in the most equal way possiblepublished at 15:25 10 May

    Hampshire 184-2 v Durham

Ali Orr, 106*, has not gone into another gear since his 100, James Vince with the healthier strike rate of the two as he is 25* off 42 complete with a couple of trademark cover drives.

50 partnership off 91 deliveries in just over an hour and immaculately they have contributed exactly 25 runs each!

  11. Postpublished at 15:22 10 May

    Surrey v Warwickshire 166-5

Sean Abbott has a face like thunder.

He has banged in a fine, unexpected yorker against Jacob Bethell...The toe of the bat, his boot and pad were all very close together as he toppled forward hugely off balance.

Nothing conclusive but Abbott's fritless appeal ended five yards beyond the stumps at the far end of the pitch. He was almost in Ben Foakes' arms.

    Bethell survives. Just.

  12. Mahmood is back, but maybe not today!published at 15:19 10 May

    Notts v Lancashire 174-2

If you have not been reading all my updates today or have not scrolled back to the start of play you may not have realised the positive England and Lancashire cricket news that Saqib Mahmood has ended a year on the sidelines by lining up for Lancashire in the fixture against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

As we speak he has not done a lot yet, and will happily wait until tomorrow to bat or bowl I am sure.

Mahmood, 27, has not played a first-class match since the very same week of 2023 after suffering a recurrence of the back stress fracture that sidelined him for most of last season.

Lancashire have been easing him back into longer form cricket with second XI appearances last month, although he has impressed more with bat than ball, scoring 41 and 20 but only managing one wicket (albeit a big scalp in Bas de Leede) in four innings.

  13. Glamorgan putting Sussex under pressurepublished at 15:18 10 May

    Glamorgan v Sussex 140-6

A clatter of wickets since lunch and Glamorgan will feel their decision to bowl first is fully justified.

Sam Northeast's imaginative field placing has dried up the runs, and supported by excellent line and length bowling from Mir Hamza who accounted for Cheteshwar Pujara and John Simpson.

Sussex are under pressure for probably the first time this season, and it will be interesting to see how they react

  14. 'Parkinson's persistence paid off'published at 15:11 10 May

    Kent v Worcestershire 171-2

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

An enjoyable knock from the former Kent academy player Kashif Ali.

A desperately important wicket from Kent's point of view with that partnership being worth 136.

Credit to Matt Parkinson who from the off has deliberately bowled that bit slower to Kashif Ali and eventually his persistence with that tactic paid off even though he'd have known it was likely that Kashif would eventually come a bit harder at him.

He's persisted with the pace and inviting, almost drawing the batter out.

  15. WICKET: Rhodes c Sibley b Clark 36published at 15:10 10 May

    Surrey v Warwickshire 162-5

3-25 for Jordan Clark. A fine catch at slip from Dom Sibley.

Will Rhodes has battled hard but goes after after a patient 36 from 107 balls, trying to get his blade out of the way but failing and offering a low catch down to his right for Sibley, who does very well to grab it just above the turf.

Jacob Bethell is the new man, joining Ed Barnard.

  16. 100 for Ali Orrpublished at 15:08 10 May

    Hampshire 170-2 v Durham

I have given the first centurion of this round far more air time than one would expect, but it is his first for his new county and he has seriously drawn out the affair for the spectators, having been in the 90s for over half an hour.

I wonder if any of the Orr family's fingers have any nails left on them?!

He batted beautifully in the first 50 minutes after lunch, creaming Matty Potts around having been missed between wicketkeeper and first slip off the same bowler don't forget.

He got through the nervy period with a bit of fortune and gets his century with a back foot punch for one through midwicket off Callum Parkinson.

Very good applause from Durham bowlers and fielders around him too - lovely to see, what gentleman play this wonderful game of cricket.

  17. 50 for Miles Hammondpublished at 15:07 10 May

    Northants v Glos 181-3

A half-century for Miles Hammond is brought up in only 55 balls.

Hammond and James Bracey have calmed things down for Gloucestershire after they lost two wickets soon after lunch and they have a 50 partnership as well now.

  18. Postpublished at 15:06 10 May

    Surrey v Warwickshire 157-4

Somehow Jordan Clark and Dan Worrall are making a 49-over old Dukes cricket ball move about The Oval pitch like a plastic Shootmaster football on the beach at Camber Sands on an especially windy afternoon.

Will Rhodes and Ed Barnard have combined for 27 from their first 10 overs together but are living on the edge.

There's no hiding place out there.

  19. Anyone for ice cream?published at 15:04 10 May

Woman holding two ice creamsImage source, Rex Features

After the incessant rain we've had this year and the images of supporters wearing woolly hats while huddling beneath umbrellas at grounds across the land in previous rounds, how nice is it to see the sun?

Glorious day. Long may it last.

  20. Postpublished at 15:03 10 May

    Notts v Lancashire 164-2

Former Kings School Taunton spinner Calvin Harrison is into the attack at Trent Bridge, his second over is taken for a four and a six by Keaton Jennings.

The last wicket fell on 83, Jennings is now 78*.
