  1. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 80-0

Archie Vaughan on 34 nudges Jordan Clark just short of the slips for no run and picks up a single next ball pushing forward to point.

Tom Lammonby leaves outside off, then gets a single off the last ball flicked to leg and we'll have time for one more before lunch.

  2. Postpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 72-4

Brett Hutton replaces Josh Tongue at the Stuart Broad End for a last rumble before lunch.

Another one here for Notts would make the scran even tastier.

James Coles controls another one nicely along the ground through the slips for four. He's up to 28.

  3. Postpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 68-3 v Durham

Henry Nicholls moves to 30 from 68 balls with a cut off Codi Yusuf which just about beats the chasing fielder to the rope.

Adam Hose has 20 at the other end and this partnership has steadied the Pears ship nicely.

  4. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 78-0

Early to speculate but this could be a high-scoring game.

Consistent bounce and carry today and only occasional movement off the seam.

Single to Tom Lammonby to the on side and Archie Vaughan drives James Taylor to deep cover next ball for one more.

Lammonby drives to point for one to get to 35 and Vaughan keeps the strike with another single pushed into the off side.

  5. Postpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 67-4

Quickest over yet on the gun for Josh Tongue but Oli Carter has just cashed in one one that's a tad wide and crashed it through the covers for four.

It's so important when you're made to hop about like the Easter bunny and play and miss when you're not doing that, that you make the most of anything remotely loose.

    Carter's done that very well.

James Coles has just been struck on the pads by Fergus O'Neill early in his next over but it's not out with Coles on the walk outside off stump.

  6. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 74-0

Jordan Clark will continue from the Pavilion End and Archie Vaughan plays the ball late and safely in defence down the pitch.

    Maiden over.

  7. Postpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 74-0

Archie Vaughan is forward and across to James Taylor, defending into the on side.

He leaves a wider off stump ball and pushes the fourth ball through point for a single to move to 32.

Tom Lammonby leaves ever wider balls outside the off stump.

Perhaps three or four overs left in the session of play.

    Gloucestershire 70-5 v Leicestershire

Gloucestershire will need this partnership to be a big one if they hope to get a respectable first innings score.

If Ian Holland wants a few more overs before lunch you can see him going back in there.

There's a lot of movement out there.

  9. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 73-0

I daresay Archive Vaughan will get a few more short balls between now and lunch after getting away with that loose stroke off the bowling of Gus Atkinson.

He picks up a couple of leg byes off James Taylor to survive the 23rd over of the innings.

Jordan Clark is back in the Surrey attack and Tom Lammonby moves to 33 with a single driven through cover point.

Clark angles to ball into Vaughan, who takes one hand off the bat as he blocks into the off side. That bounced a bit more than expected.

Vaughan gets a single pushing forward to square leg.

  10. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 59-4

Important last quarter of a hour or so for Sussex here as they eye lunch without any further loss.

Josh Tongue has switched ends after that one over of spin from Liam Patterson-White and James Coles has ridden the bounce of Tongue's first ball well, steering it calmly to the vacant deep third boundary.

    Tongue is touching 90 mph.

Coles and Oli Carter make it through the over.

  11. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 59-3 v Durham

Jake Ball returns to the Durham attack.

3-17 from seven overs earlier this morning. How he'd love to add to that tally in the 20-odd minutes before lunch.

This left-right partnership between Henry Nicholls and Adam Hose has proved pesky so far after coming together at 22-3.

  12. 'It's early season, it's difficult...'published at 12:41 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 59-3 v Durham

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

I've seen a few rather disrespectful messages about the Worcestershire batters this morning.

It's not just Worcestershire, it's early season, it's difficult... there are sides who are four and five wickets down already this morning in other games.

It's easy to look at a score and say they must be playing badly. They have to take into account the conditions.

  13. Division Two updatepublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 25 April

    #bbccricket

    Gloucestershire 53-5 v Leicestershire

It's a fifth wicket now for Leicestershire as Josh Hull claims a first first-class wicket of the season, dismissing Cameron Green with an lbw. His last red-ball scalp came for England against Sri Lanka at The Oval last September.

The lower-order of Gloucestershire are going to be under plenty of pressure as the hosts claw their way past the half-century mark.

    Derbyshire 66-1 v Middlesex

the hosts continue to build at Derby after the early departure of Caleb Jewell.

  14. Postpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 69-0

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Goodness me, I do wish he wouldn't play that shot.

  15. Postpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 50-4

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

I think these two young Sussex players have done really well because this is high-quality bowling on a pitch that's giving a bit of help.

These two have impressively got into line and left the balls they had to.

  16. Postpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 69-0

Somerset are within half an hour of a very encouraging first session of play since the untimely injury of Sean Dickson.

Archie Vaughan is forward, playing defensively against Gus Atkinson and then moves to 30 with a top-edged pull just short of deep square leg for a single.

Steady on now! He's been out a few times to that shot this season.

  17. 50 runs

50 up for Pearspublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 50-3 v Durham

Henry Nicholls gets a leading-edge to Codi Yusuf which loops into the air but drops behind the stumps well short of keeper Ollie Robinson, allowing the Kiwi to scamper through for a single to bring up the 50.

  18. 50 runs

50 up for Sussexpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 50-4

Sussex bring up the half-century and after being 28-4, they'll be delighted they've got there without adding to the carnage largely caused by Brett Hutton.

Oli Carter and James Coles have certainly played and missed a bit, but they've equally been alert enough to cash in on anything off-line.

Liam Patterson-White gets to turn his arm over and he delivers a maiden of his slow left-armers.

  19. Postpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 47-3 v Durham

A mini-revival for the Pears as Henry Nicholls and Adam Hose have combined to add 25 runs in 10 overs since the last wicket fell.

The duo share a chat and a fist-bump in the middle at the end of the over.

Atrocious stuff, this, they have had to work for every run, and run hard for every run for that matter...

  20. Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 68-0

Archie Vaughan gets into a tangle with an attempted pull shot off James Taylor but the ball strikes his midriff and thuds down in front of the crease.

He gets the ball to angle into Vaughan outside off stump and the opener defends.

The fifth ball is a no ball and the next one is squeezed through square leg on the front foot for a single.
