Josh Tongue continues to crack it up.

The former Worcestershire quick hit the high 80s in his last over as Oli Carter did his best to keep him out.

There was a glove down to deep third for four off a rib-tickler and another thick inside edge that almost got through to his stumps from a rapid full one.

Tongue's got a leg-slip and short-leg in but Carter gets through it.

James Coles, who watched all that from the other end, enjoys a rare long-hop from Fergus O'Neill (pictured) and dismisses it through mid-wicket for four.

  3. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 60-0

Archie Vaughan survives an LBW shout with a little bit of bat facing James Taylor and he runs a single to the leg side.

Tom Lammonby is beaten by a ball that bounces and leaves him outside the left-hander's off stump.

Lammonby aborts a drive at the last moment off the fifth ball while anchored to the crease.

A Taylor no ball is followed by a ball speared past off stump which Lammonby leaves alone.

A fourth wicket for the Foxes as Miles Hammond is caught at third-slip for 11 runs by Rehan Ahmed, off the bowling of Ben Green.

The fall of wickets so far are 1-1, 2-14, 3-21, 4-34 after only 17 overs.

    Derbyshire 57-1 v Middlesex

The home-side pass the half-century as David Lloyd on 28 runs and Harry Came on 23 are building a partnership since the first wicket fell on just five.

There's just a little pressure building up here.

  6. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 57-0

Hazy sunshine at the Oval today and the members pavilion is pretty well populated for this game.

Good control from Gus Atkinson in his second spell, getting a consistent line and length just outside off stump.

The last ball of the over is angled in and Tom Lammonby squeezes the ball away late leg side but survives a testing maiden over.

  7. 'A four feels like an eight'published at 12:15 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 36-3 v Durham

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcestershire

Boy oh boy that outfield is slow. 99 times out of 100 that's a boundary for Tom Nicholls. It gets three quarters of the way and then just... stops.

A four is going to feel like an eight in this match.

  8. Postpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 57-0

James Taylor bowls full and Tom Lammonby defends down the pitch.

Lammonby plays and misses a flashing cut shot as the ball bounces over the top edge.

He's a bit early on a pull shot but still gets the ball away square for a single.

  9. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 34-4

No rest for the Sussex batters.

Brett Hutton is off after another mesmeric opening eight-over spell (3-17), and replaced by Fergus O'Neill, who's had a breather for six overs.

His figs? 0-10 off six overs.

It was 0-6 but James Coles has just edged him streakily through gully to the fence...

  10. Postpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 56-0

Archive Vaughan scrambles a leg bye first ball off Gus Atkinson and Tom Lammonby pulls the bat inside the line to leave a short ball.

The fifth ball is leg side and clipped fine for four, beating Jamie Smith to the rope.

He keeps the strike with a single pushed down the ground.

  11. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 34-3 v Durham

A double bowling change for the visitors as South African Codi Yusuf is thrown the ball for the 16th over.

Three consecutive overs sent down by bowlers signed in the past couple of days.

Some counties will be very jealous...

Adam Hose survives a shout for LBW from the final ball, might have hit the edge before the pad.

  12. 'Tongue has X-factor'published at 12:08 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 28-4

Josh Tongue celebratesImage source, Rex Features

Josh Tongue has surprised me a little bit. I wasn't entirely sure of all the tricks he's got in his armory but he has got that little bit of X-factor.

That was just a rapid yorker that was just too quick for Tom Alsop.

  13. Postpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 34-3 v Durham

Jack Blatherwick, on loan from Lancashire, replaces Ben Raine and Adam Hose gets off the mark as he helps a leg-side delivery on its way to the boundary for four.

Boundaries have been hard to come by in the opening hour.

The pressure is palpable as the clouds close over New Road.

  14. Postpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 50-0

James Taylor gets a ball to nibble away from a leg stump line and an appeal for caught behind against Tom Lammonby is turned down.

A definite play and miss going forward to block.

Encouraging over for Surrey and now Gus Atkinson is on for his second spell in place of Jordan Clark.

  15. 'Ian Holland could get movement off glass'published at 12:05 British Summer Time 25 April

    Gloucestershire 25-3 v Leicestershire

    Nicole Harvey
    BBC Radio cricket commentator

Ian Holland celebratesImage source, Rex Features

How fantastic has he bowled so far? Ian Holland could get movement off glass.

It's remarkable, even the lengths he's bowling, both opening bowlers are 34 years old, what great experience to bring in.

There seems to be a lot of debate between batters and umpires, lots of warnings.

Gloucestershire looked trapped on the crease.

  16. Postpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 50-0

Archie Vaughan battingImage source, Rex Features

Archie Vaughan aims a straight drive against Jordan Clark but is blocked by the bowler on his follow through.

There's no stopping his next scoring shot though as he smacks a shorter, wider ball through cover for four.

James Taylor comes into the attack in place of Dan Worrall at the Vauxhall End.

His first ball is turned off Tom Lammonby's hip for four and that shot takes Somerset to 50 in the 15th over.

A solid first hour for Somerset, save for the loss of Sean Dickson, who was forced to retire hurt with a hand injury early this morning.

  17. Postpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 27-3 v Durham

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcestershire

Jake Ball is finding the edge for fun.

  18. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 27-3 v Durham

Ben Raine has figures of 0-10 from seven overs and must be casting jealous glances at Jake Ball, who has 3-13 from his six.

The opening duo have bowled nicely but are getting some assistance from the pitch and overhead conditions, plus some slightly nervy Pears batting too, it might be said...

Henry Nicholls has 11 from 21 deliveries after flashing an edge over the slips off Ball.

    Alsop lbw b Tongue 5 (Nottinghamshire v Sussex 28-4)

    Too quick. Simple as.

If there was any doubt about Tom Clark's lbw, there's none about that one for Tom Alsop.

The left-hander is almost knocked over by a full and fast one from Josh Tongue that strikes him somewhere near where shin meets foot.

It's knocking the base of middle out.

Lovely change up from the England quick.

  20. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 41-0

Dan Worrall continues from the Vauxhall End and Archie Vaughan nudges a single to mid on.

Worrall gets one to cut back sharply past Tom Lammonby, who offers no shot as the ball seams in and bounces over the stumps.

A straighter third ball is pushed to deep third for three.

He continues to get bounce and a bit of away movement outside off stump but Archie Vaughan leaves the ball alone.
