    Vaughan c Pope b Atkinson 36 (Surrey v Somerset 98-1)

Archie Vaughan is outImage source, Rex Features

Archie Vaughan is struck in the midriff as he misses an attempted pull shot off Gus Atkinson and now he's out.

He pushes for the ball outside off stump while rooted to the crease and edges behind.

Good sharp catch at chest height by Ollie Pope at second slip.

    Tom Abell will bat next.

  2. wicket

    Coles c Hameed b Tongue 37 (Nottinghamshire v Sussex 85-5)

Josh Tongue celebratesImage source, Rex Features

After a gentle (by his speeds) over to start after lunch, Josh Tongue has found his pace again and has picked up James Coles.

Coles has clothed a short one looking to pull and lobbed it straight to Haseeb Hameed at mid-on.

Perhaps the previous delivery played a part there - Coles tried a very similar shot and was hit in the stomach.

It shook him up a bit and maybe that was on his mind a bit with that shot.

Coles and Oli Carter's gutsy partnership is broken at 57.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 31.0 overs

    Hose lbw b Raine 23 (Worcestershire 77-4)

Adam Hose doesn't like it, but he has to go...

He comes forward on the walk but plays across the line and the ball raps the pads.

Big breakthrough in his first over of the afternoon from Ben Raine to end that 55-run stand with Henry Nicholls after 23 from 51 balls for Hose.

Skipper Brett D'Oliveira is the new batter.

    Surrey v Somerset 95-0

Tom Lammonby celebratesImage source, Rex Features

Dan Worrall is cutting the ball away from Tom Lammonby to try and get the batter driving.

Lammonby is forward, pushing the fourth ball to deep third for a couple more runs.

The next ball is driven through point off the back foot for three and there's his 50.

92 balls with five fours. Well batted and indeed well applauded.

His first 50 of the season after a run of low scores early on.

  5. 'The worst possible start for Gloucestershire'published at 13:49 British Summer Time 25 April

    Gloucestershire 94-7 v Leicestershire

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol

This is the worst possible start for Gloucestershire as they lose a wicket straight away.

The movement is interesting here, you don't see many pitches that have this level of movement.

It's still a fairly gloomy picture with the cloud out there, although there might be a few sunny intervals.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 25 April

Ian Holland celebratesImage source, Rex Features

    Gloucestershire 89-7 v Leicestershire

Ian Holland is now 3-12 as the Foxes claim their seventh wicket immediately after lunch as Dominic Goodman is dismissed for lbw.

At this rate it won't be long until we see Leicestershire at the crease.

The leaders need two more wickets for maximum bowling points.

    Derbyshire 90-1 v Middlesex

Derbyshire will be looking to reach three figures as they resume just 10 runs short with David Lloyd and Harry Came looking to build on their partnership of 85 runs, and counting...

  7. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 90-0

Tom Lammonby gets away with a play and miss outside off first up, then nudges a single to backward point for one.

Archie Vaughan plays around the ball as he defends into the leg side.

Vaughan gets a single off the fifth ball, pulled to leg.

Lammonby gets one more to mid on.

He's on 45 not out. Dan Worrall will bowl next.

  8. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 82-4

A bit of a loosener from Josh Tongue first ball after lunch - wide and swings a touch wider at no great pace - and keeper Kyle Verreynne can't gather it on the bounce one-handed.

It hasn't got the energy to get to the boundary but Sussex start the afternoon with a bonus couple of byes.

James Coles, who couldn't get near that first ball, gets plenty of the fifth delivery and strokes a full toss to the fence through mid-wicket.

    Nice start for Sussex.

  9. Play resumes at New Roadpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 75-3 v Durham

Henry Nicholls and Adam Hose resume their 53-run stand at New Road.

Ben Raine had a nice long rest before lunch so expect a lengthy spell from him early this afternoon, though Jack Blatherwick gets the first over of the session.

Feels like a crucial session in the match, as early as it is...

  10. Afternoon session begins at the Ovalpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 87-0

Surrey need an early wicket this afternoon on a pitch that looks like it will get better and better for batting on as the match progresses.

Tom Lammonby faces England and Surrey's Gus Atkinson on an unbeaten 43 to start the session.

Atkinson was presented with his county cap by Alec Stewart at lunchtime.

Archie Vaughan has 35 not out at the other end.

  11. 'No doubt who is happier at lunch'published at 13:41 British Summer Time 25 April

    Derbyshire 90-1 v Middlesex

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

Both sides got their wishes at the toss this morning but there is no doubt who will be the happiest at lunch.

Toby Roland-Jones picked up a crucial early caught behind with a solid line and length delivery but the visiting attack struggled to beat the battle thereafter.

The surface is green, which would have enticed Middlesex with their seam-heavy attack, but the hosts have played two spinners and will hope the pitch, which is of good pace but has offered little sideways movement, will deteriorate in the final innings.

  12. 'Somerset come through ordeal by seam unscathed'published at 13:32 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 87-0

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset's skipper, Lewis Gregory, looked distinctly downcast after losing the toss and being asked to bat.

Two hours later, he may be having second thoughts, Archie Vaughan and Tom Lammonby having come through an ordeal by seam unscathed, Somerset's only casualty being Sean Dickson, forced to retire hurt after being hit a nasty blow on the glove by a Gus Atkinson lifter.

Vaughan was dropped by Dan Lawrence at third slip off Dan Worrell when he'd scored only 13, but, that apart, he and Lammonby have batted with skilful restraint against this powerful Surrey attack on a pitch offering only sporadic movement.

There's been plenty of discussion about Durham signing three players yesterday to help them deal with an injury-crisis.

Codi Yusuf is on a short-term overseas deal for six matches while Jake Ball and Jack Blatherwick have signed on 14-day loan deals from Somerset and Lancashire respectively.

Ball helped reduce Worcestershire to 22-3 inside an hour on the opening morning at New Road and some don't think it's a level playing field.

We don't just want to know whether you agree with the deals, we want to know how you would manage in-season transfers between clubs? Should their be a cap? Should their be transfer windows? What's your solution?

  14. 'A session of two halves'published at 13:18 British Summer Time 25 April

    Notts v Sussex 75-4

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

James Coles battingImage source, Rex Features

A morning of two halves at Trent Bridge as Sussex fought back from 28-4, thanks to a battling fifth wicket partnership between James Coles (pictured) and Oli Carter.

The pair have added 47 so far, after Brett Hutton blew away the top order for the second match in a row.

Last week at Edgbaston his early strikes led to the Bears being dismissed for only 93.

Something similar seemed on the cards as the first three wickets fell to the experienced Hutton inside the opening half an hour. Josh Tongue then produced the ball of the morning to York Tom Alsop.

    Division One

    Surrey v Somerset 87-0 - Lammonby 43*

    Notts v Sussex 75-4 - Hutton 3-21

    Worcestershire 75-3 v Durham - Ball 3-24

    Division Two

    Gloucestershire 87-6 v Leicestershire - Holland 2-11

    Derbyshire 90-1 v Middlesex - Lloyd 43*

  16. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 74-4

When Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed won the toss and stuck Sussex in under slatey skies he'd have wanted his seamers to make the most of it and they have.

Brett Hutton (3-21) and Josh Tongue (1-26) have posed contrasting problems for the visitors' batters.

Hutton's floaty swingers have again been magic while Tongue's express pace has had Sussex thinking about preserving fingers and ribs as well as their stumps.

But at 28-4, James Coles and Oli Carter have done really well.

Their stand of 47 a deserved reward for their ability to deal with the carnage and retain the clarity to cash in when they can.

They'll hope the sun comes out and the green bib on this pitch fades.

  17. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 87-0

Tom Lammonby and Archie VaughanImage source, Rex Features

Dan Lawrence will bowl the exploratory over of spin before lunch.

    Specifically off spin.

His first delivery is short, wide and cut behind point by Tom Lammonby for two runs.

The fourth ball is edged going forward and Lammonby (on 39) picks up a streaky four. No slip in place.

Lammonby gets one more off the back foot to reach 43 and Archie Vaughan defends from the crease.

Somerset will be delighted to get through the session with all wickets (technically) in hand, though there will be some concern for Sean Dickson, who was off the field with a hand injury in the third over of the match.

Archie Vaughan survives a chance in the slips on 17 and now has 35 not out.

  18. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 75-3 v Durham

A timely half-century stand between Henry Nicholls (34*) and Adam Hose (23*) across 16 overs before lunch has given Worcestershire a footing in this game at the interval.

It's a good recovery after Durham loanee Jake Ball's early blitz, which has given him figures of 3-24 from 10 overs at lunch, all of them edges taken by gloveman Ollie Robinson.

  19. 'The fight-back hasn't lasted long'published at 13:02 British Summer Time 25 April

    Gloucestershire 83-6 v Leicestershire

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

Off-stump is pegged back, it's taking a beating this morning.

Van Buuren has only been a counter-attack with his 25 off 16 balls.

If Gloucestershire looked as if they were briefly fighting back, it's not lasted long, that partnership was worth 36 runs.

  20. Division Two updatepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 25 April

Ben Green celebratesImage source, Rex Features

    Gloucestershire 87-6 v Leicestershire

It's a sixth wicket in this morning session for the visitors as a brief fight-back from Graeme Van Buuren is stopped by Ben Green who claims his second wicket of the match.

    Derbyshire 80-1 v Middlesex

The hosts are closing in on three figures as David Lloyd and Harry Came's partnership reaches 75 runs.
