  1. Postpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 174-5

James Taylor is into his 17th over of the innings and Lewis Gregory taps the ball to the right of Jamie Smith for a single.

Aldridge is up on his toes to push the ball through cover for two and he'll get one more next ball with thick edge to deep third off a fuller length ball.

This may be the best time to try and force the pace a little, given that the new ball is available in just nine overs.

  2. Postpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire 58-2 v Sussex 169

Ollie Robinson continues to ask some tricky questions of the Notts batters.

He crashes one into the pads of Haseeb Hameed but it looks very leggy and the umpire keeps his finger hidden.

Next ball Robinson bowls a pearler - a sharp leg-cutter - that has the Notts skipper fiddling at thin air.

Two more balls then beat the outside edge as Hameed sums his struggle up by resting on his bat with glove on hip wondering how he's still in.

But he is and, for Notts, that's the main thing.

But this is very good from Robinson.

  3. Postpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 169-5

More company for Kasey Aldridge as Surrey captain Rory Burns brings himself into silly point.

Aldridge blocks to the said silly point to see out the over.

    Surrey v Somerset 169-5

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

    This is what Surrey do.

Even when they're not taking wickets, they keep it very, very tight.

There aren't too many freebies and you just don't get a break.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 25 April

    Lees b Duffy 0 (Worcestershire 162 v Durham 4-1)

Alex Lees chops on... what a start for Jacob Duffy and Worcestershire.

He doesn't move his feet and stands tall as he tries to guide the ball away into the off side but can only drag back onto his own timbers.

That's a second duck in four innings for the Durham skipper, though the 172 against Yorkshire last week wasn't too shabby...

Will Rhodes is in at three.

  6. Postpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 169-5

Kasey Aldridge is nearly undone by bounce off Gus Atkinson, but he taps the ball down just short of the fielder at short leg.

He also has two slips and a leg slip for company. Brutal.

  7. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 162 v Durham 4-0

Worcestershire only found the ropes 13 times in more than 68 overs but promising Durham opener Ben McKinney gets off the mark with a drive through the covers for four from the first ball he's seen.

  8. Postpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 169-5

Two slips in for James Taylor, bowling to Kasey Aldridge.

He gets a short leg side ball on the fourth delivery, which he swipes away to long leg for a single.

Just five runs scored since tea.

  9. 'Not a County-Championship type shot'published at 16:50 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire 55-2 v Sussex 169

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

That was not exactly a County-Championship type shot was it [from Ben Duckett]?

It was more in keeping with what we've seen from him in the international arena. That was one he decided to go hard at but that's good reward for Ollie Robinson.

There was very little foot movement and a loose waft at it. It would've gone a long way if he'd middled it but he didn't - he inside-edged it.

  10. Five for on debut for Ballpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 25 April

Worcestershire 162 all out v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Jake Ball, who has joined Durham as an emergency loan signing from Somerset, has taken a five for on his debut. It's his eighth in first-class cricket.

He took the first three wickets to fall this morning and then took the final two shortly after tea. He's finished with figures of 5-47 in 16.2 overs. Fellow debutant, South African Codi Yusuf, also took 2-36 as Durham made light work of the Worcestershire order.

They had maximum bowling points in the bag after 66.2 overs. But on a slow track it's been difficult for the batsmen to time the ball and get it away. The outfield is also dead slow, so Durham may well have their work cut out with the bat.

There are 25 overs to go this afternoon - if the light holds! It's gloomy at New Road.

  11. Durham begin their reply at Worcesterpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 162 v Durham 0-0

Alex Lees and Ben McKinney open up for Durham, with Jacob Duffy taking the new ball for the Pears at New Road, which is looking very murky, it must be said.

  12. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 168-5

Lewis Gregory takes his hand off the bat as Gus Atkinson gets bounce on a length and the ball is jabbed into the on side.

He ducks under a bouncer next ball and sways back to evade another bumper on the fifth delivery.

It's hard to fathom where the next run might come from.

This is a very tough passage of play for the batting side with no easy runs on offer.

  13. Postpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 168-5

Lewis Gregory is off the mark to his 13th ball of his innings with a single driven off the back foot facing James Taylor.

Taylor is consistently bowling just back of a length and Kasey Aldridge defends.

  14. Division Two updatepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 25 April

    #bbccricket

    Derbyshire 192-2 Middlesex

Harry Came continues to find the boundaries, hitting 12 fours this innings as he reaches 72* with the hosts closing in on 200 runs.

Captain Wayne Madsen came in for David Lloyd and has reached16* as they look to build a partnership to follow that 150-run stand between Came and Lloyd earlier.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 25 April

    Duckett c Simpson b Robinson 9 (Nottinghamshire 55-2 v Sussex 169)

So that third slip miss doesn't cost Sussex as Ollie Robinson gets Ben Duckett in the end.

It's another heave-ho from Duckett, who feathers an inside edge through to John Simpson behind the stumps.

This is a decent spell from Robinson. At the moment he looks nothing like the man who lost his England place.

Clearly fitter and bowling with much more zip.

  16. Five-wicket haul for Jake Ballpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 162 v Durham

It's a five-fer for Jake Ball on Durham debut as George Drissell takes a juggling catch in the slips to oust Jacob Duffy for five.

5-47 for the Somerset loanee and only really Pears debutant Henry Nicholls (42) put up much resistance for the hosts in tricky batting conditions.

We'll see what Durham, without David Bedingham through injury, can do in reply shortly.

  17. Postpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire 55-1 v Sussex 169

    Another let-off for Ben Duckett.

He edges a massive drive at Ollie Robinson and it flies to where third slip would have been HAD HE NOT BEEN MOVED TO GULLY the ball before.

  18. Postpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 165-5

Gus Atkinson's radar is a little awry early on as he spears the ball past the leg stump of Kasey Aldridge, but he adjusts quickly and gets Aldridge blocking into the off side.

Atkinson follows that up with bouncers leg side and just outside off, and Aldridge is once again swaying back to the off side one.

    Maiden over.

  19. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 165-5

Kasey Aldridge taps the ball from James Taylor away off his hip for a leg bye.

Lewis Gregory is on his toes, defending into the off side and then gets on to the front foot to defend as Taylor bowls a fuller length.

Gus Atkinson will continue his spell from the other end.

50 up for Nottspublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire 51-1 v Sussex 169

Ben Duckett battingImage source, Rex Features

Goodness me that was close for Ben Duckett.

The England left-hander goes back to one that seems to keep a tad low from Fynn Hudson-Prentice and it somehow misses the off stump.

Duckett doesn't let that bother him as he wipes his third ball with typical gusto through the covers to get off the mark and brings up the Notts half-ton.
