  1. 50 runs

50 for James Braceypublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 25 April

    Gloucestershire 189-8 v Leicestershire

James Brace dots down into the leg-side to scamper a single and bring up his 50 from 89 deliveries with four fours.

He's in some form after an unbeaten 151 and 30 not out against Kent last time out and has led this rally from 88-7 to 189-8.

  2. Postpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 146-2

This has been a tough grind for Somerset against some probing Surrey bowling, but the visitors have still responded well after the loss of Archie Vaughan and Tom Abell in quick succession.

James Taylor beats Tom Lammonby outside off as the batter tries to defend.

The third wicket partnership is worth 47.

  3. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 155-7

Talented family the Ahmeds. Rehan Ahmed took a five-for on his England debut with his leggies in Pakistan in 2022 and hit a century for Division Two leaders Leicestershire in the last round.

His kid brother Farhan looks a real prospect too with his off-spin, delivered with a lovely high action that has a whiff of Graeme Swann about it.

He starts his run-up standing, legs wide and knees flexed, as if he's about to return a serve from Carlos Alcaraz before a joyful skip in and a whirl of the arms.

As we saw in that delivery that did for Oli Carter, he's got those vital weapons of drift and dip too.

  4. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 117-6 v Durham

50 overs gone at New Road and just the eight boundaries in the day so far.

A good seven or eight balls have held up within a few feet of the rope on this slow outfield, a factor which you would imagine will have changed by the time Durham get their turn to bat on it.

Ethan Brookes produced a blistering innings at Chelmsford last week, this time his task is very different, needing to dig-in alongside skipper Brett D'Oliveira who has 23 from 58 deliveries.

  5. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 145-2

Tom Banton is forward to Jordan Clark and beaten while trying to defend outside off stump.

He gets a single off the fifth ball which nips in off the seam and is forced away into the off side.

  6. Carter soaked up a lot of pressurepublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 155-7

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

He'd batted really well Oli Carter and soaked up a lot of pressure and he came to the crease with Sussex in all sorts of strife this morning.

He battled through and I think he'll be a little disappointed because he was trying to be positive.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 25 April

    Waite c Blatherwick b Yusuf (Worcestershire 116-6 v Durham)

Short and wide from Codi Yusuf and Matthew Waite can't help himself, having a swipe but cutting upishly straight to Jack Blatherwick at point.

A second Yusuf wicket and the Pears are six down.

If you're thinking of going to this one on Monday, maybe bring those plans forward a bit.

  8. Postpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 144-2

James Taylor is short to Tom Banton, who jabs the ball away leg side for a couple of runs.

He blocks fuller deliveries into the off side and is squared up by the fourth ball, blocking down the ground and then picks up a single to gully to move to 24.

  9. Postpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 141-2

Jordan Clark finds the outside half of Tom Banton's bat but he'll get off strike with a single to deep third.

Tom Lammonby digs out a very full ball which might have curved into him rather late.

    Carter c Verreynne b Ahmed 46 (Nottinghamshire v Sussex 155-7)

Farhan Ahmed celebratesImage source, Rex Features

Lovely stuff from Farhan Ahmed who floats one up to Oli Carter from round the wicket.

Carter's on the charge and has a huge wipe at it. Kyle Verreynne takes it and whips the bails off.

It looks like it may have come off the outside edge on its way into the gloves but the South African rearranges the timbers for good measure with Carter desperately trying to get back.

Carter eyeing his 50 with a biggie but he's gone four short.

  11. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 140-2

The sound of an aircraft can be heard over the BBC mic as James Taylor begins his 10th over of the innings.

His first ball runs away off Tom Banton's pads for a leg bye.

Tom Lammonby leaves on width outside off stump, and he'll get a streaky four runs off a thin defensive edge that runs the ball wide of the slips.

A flashing drive off the next ball scythes it over the slips for four more.

  12. 150 runs

150 on the board for Sussexpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 150-6

Farhan Ahmed bowlingImage source, Rex Features

Fynn Hudson-Prentice is a dangerous counter-puncher and is trying to take the attack back to Notts.

To the first ball of Farhan Ahmed's new over, FHP is quick-stepping down the track to belt the 17-year-old (pictured) back over his head for four.

More spin at the other end - going the other way from the right-hander - from left-armer Liam Patterson-White.

There's a big shout for lbw as Hudson-Prentice lunges forward. Not out.

FHP then calmy plays LPW out to mid-on for a single to bring up the 150.

  13. Postpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 131-2

Tom Lammonby nods in respect to bowler Jordan Clark, who draws the batter forward and beats him outside off stump.

    Maiden over.

  14. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 131-2

This has been a watchful innings from Tom Lammonby, but we've seen some attacking flair too as he gets two more runs with a late cut on the back foot through backward point to move on to 63.

He gets one more run next ball, dropping it into the off side.

  15. 'Bracey's batted well'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 25 April

    Gloucestershire 157-8 v Leicestershire

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

James Bracey's batted really well so far.

If Gloucestershire can get it over 200, who knows what might happen?

  16. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 25 April

    Worcestershire 103-5 v Durham

Will Rhodes comes into the attack for Durham for the first time, tempting Brett D'Oliveira down his leg side numerous times in his opening over.

D'Oliveira gets a stroke of luck in the next over as he tries to clip Codi Yusuf into the leg side only for the ball to loop up off the handle and drop just shy of the fielder at point.

  17. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 128-2

Jordan Clark bowls round the wicket to Tom Lammonby, who lets the ball go through to keeper Ben Foakes.

Lammonby gets a single off the fourth ball, nudged to deep third.

He switches to over the wicket to the right-handed Tom Banton who jabs down defensively on a length ball.

  18. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 25 April

    Surrey v Somerset 127-2

Jordan Clark sustains a tight line to Tom Lammonby, bowling wicket to wicket and his eighth over of the innings is a maiden.

James Taylor replaces Dan Worrall at the other end and a short, wide ball is slapped through point on the back foot by Tom Banton for four.

One more run driven on the front foot through cover.

Tom Lammonby is squared up in defence as the ball fizzes past his off stump, but he gets off strike next ball with a single tucked leg side off his hip.

  19. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 25 April

    Nottinghamshire v Sussex 141-6

Fergus O'Neill nips one back into Oli Cater that hits him in front.

Carter threatens to topple forward with his momentum but, given O'Neill's slight angle from wide of the crease, it looks like it's going down the leg side.

Seeing a bit more spin now as Farhan Ahmed - younger brother of England leggie Rehan - is into the attack with his offies.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42.3 overs

Nicholls lbw Yusuf 42 (Worcestershire 100-5 v Durham)

After a classy knock Henry Nicholls gets one which keeps very low and creeps under his bat to thump him just above the ankle. No doubter. Definitely some uneven bounce on this new New Road square.

It's a first Durham wicket for Codi Yusuf and breaks a 23-run stand with Brett D'Oliveira.

Matthew Waite is the next man in.
