WICKETpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 27 April

    Banton c & b Worrall 3 (Surrey 367 v Somerset 283 & 37-5)

Tom Banton gets a couple of runs deflecting Dan Worrall to mid wicket and he's saved by an inside edge as Worrall strikes the pad next ball.

Out! Tom Banton on the drive and that's a wonderful low catch `by Worrall on the follow through!

    Stunning!

Kasey Aldridge is in the middle, which is possibly a tad less tense than the away dressing room.

  2. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 27 April

Leicestershire 6-2 - target 143 to beat Gloucestershire

How has that not hit the timbers?

Sol Budinger shapes to cut Ajeet Singh Dale away but gets a thick bottom edge and the ball drops into his crease, but stops almost dead, rather than rolling back onto the stumps.

A let-off for the Foxes opener.

    incredibly nervy stuff.

Gloucestershire have not won at Bristol since September 2022, remember - a run of a dozen games without a victory.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 27 April

    du Plooy c Madsen b Chappell 52 (Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 206-6)

    50... and gone.

Zak Chappell finds the edge of Leus du Plooy's bat and his former teammate Wayne Madsen takes a simple slip catch.

A half-century for the former Derbyshire star on his old stomping ground but his new side might have needed more.

They trail by 266 as Jack Davies joins Ben Geddes.

  4. ouch!

Rew hit on shoulder by a Clark bumperpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 367 v Somerset 283 & 35-4

Those two dismissals say a lot about the nature of this pitch.

The ball landed in a near identical spot.

One bounced and one kept low.

Ouch. Short of a length and that ball takes off to strike James Rew on the shoulder.

It's a rough old game at this level.

Dan Worrall will bowl the second over of the session.

  5. Back under way at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 300 & 0-0 (target 148) v Sussex 169 & 278

Haseeb Hameed is windmilling his bat energetically as he walks out with Ben Slater and the charge towards 148 is about to get under way.

There was an intense huddle on the boundary rope as John Simpson tries to rally the Sussex troops and now Ollie Robinson has the new ball in his hand.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 27 April

    Davey b Clark 17 (Surrey 367 v Somerset 283 & 35-4)

Single to Tom Banton and now Josh Davey has gone!

    Goodness me! Somerset in tatters.

It didn't bounce as much as Davey expected and he's been castled off the toe end of his bat with a loose defensive jab.

Two wickets in the over for Jordan Clark, again bringing the ball in from outside off stump.

    James Rew is in next.

  7. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 27 April

Leicestershire 6-2 - target 143 to beat Gloucestershire

Lewis Hill digs out a Dom Goodman yorker and it's in the air for a long time but drops safe allowing him to scramble a couple of runs.

Few clouds have swept over the bright Bristol sky but there is a blanket of pressure on these batters.

  8. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 27 April

Leicestershire 3-2 - target 143 to beat Gloucestershire

A leg bye and a single each for Lewis Hill and Sol Budinger have the Foxes on the board at least before Ajeet Singh Dale almost chops Hill in half with the final ball of the over.

140 needed. They won't come easy...

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 27 April

    Abell b Clark 4 (Surrey 367 v Somerset 283 & 34-3)

Bowled him second ball after lunch! Offering no shot!

Off stump ripped out of the ground!

One ball after getting off the mark with a four glanced to fine leg on the front foot Tom Abell is undone by sharp seam movement into the stumps by Jordan Clark.

Back of a length and cutting back very sharply. Play that!

Somerset look to Tom Banton to rescue the innings.

  10. Afternoon session underway at the Ovalpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 367 v Somerset 283 & 30-2

Tom Abell will begin a potentially match-defining session, facing the bowling of Jordan Clark, hoping to pick up the first of many runs in his innings.

This will be the third ball of his innings after Tom Lammonby was dismissed LBW by Dan Lawrence just before lunch.

Josh Davey was surprisingly elevated to the number three spot after the early dismissal of Archie Vaughan before lunch and he begins on 17 not out.

Somerset need 54 for parity and ideally to bat out most if not all of Day Three, though that will be a Herculean task on this pitch and against this Surrey attack.

  11. Back under way at Derbypublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 199-5

Leus du Plooy and Ben Geddes resume their quest to avoid the follow-on.

  12. Postpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 27 April

Leicestershire 0-2 - target 143 to beat Gloucestershire

Ajeet Singh Dale takes the new ball at the other end.

Make no mistake, this is a tasty track but it's not a snake pit. It's been all good bowling and poor shots for the 10 to fall so far today...

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 27 April

Rehan Ahmed c Green b Goodman 0 (Leicestershire 0-2 - target 143 to beat Gloucestershire)

Rehan Ahmed played and missed, nearly ran himself out off the next ball and then slaps straight to Cameron Green at cover to depart for a three ball duck.

    Crazy stuff.

Dom Goodman has 7-54 in the match... and counting.

Lewis Hill comes out needing a cool head, and showed on in his first innings half-century.

  14. Back underway at Bristolpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 27 April

Leicestershire 0-1 - target 143 to beat Gloucestershire

This could well be the final session of the match, one way or another.

Leicestershire took 8-64 on a spicy track this morning but lost Rishi Patel to the third ball of the chase.

Dom Goodman has three more balls of that over to come... Rehan Ahmed plays and misses at the first.

    Get the popcorn ready...

  15. 'Notts really can see the Forest for the trees'published at 13:29 British Summer Time 27 April

Notts need 148 runs to beat Sussex

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Nottinghamshire have five full sessions, if needed, to chase down a victory target of 148 to defeat Sussex at Trent Bridge.

The visitors may already be on the motorway but for an heroic partnership of 87 for the eighth wicket between John Simpson and Jack Carson.

Their defiance was eventually broken by the second new ball, leaving the spin of 17-year old Farhan Ahmed (4-54) to close out the innings with the last two wickets.

With many in the ground eager to be finished in time for a television appointment with Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup semi final at 4.30pm they will be hoping that the top order don’t waste too much time in completing the win.

Ollie Robinson and Jayden Seales, in particular, will be eyeing up some early wickets, to propel Sussex towards an unlikely comeback.

  16. 'Game swings in Surrey's direction'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 366 v Somerset 283 & 30-2

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The wickets of Archie Vaughan - brilliantly caught down the leg-side by Ben Foakes - and Tom Lammonby, LBW to Dan Lawrence, have swung this game sharply in Surrey's direction, especially as 30-2 is effectively 30-3, as a broken finger will prevent Sean Dickson from playing any further part.

Earlier, Somerset had given themselves a fighting chance of getting back into this game by taking the last three Surrey wickets for the addition of 46 runs, to leave the home side with a lead of 84.

It seemed useful at the time, but could now prove decisive.

Simpson c Tongue b Ahmed 74 (Sussex lead by 147 runs)

Farhan Ahmed celebratesImage source, Rex Features

That will be lunch as John Simpson attempts to clear the rope at long off but holes out just inside the boundary, Josh Tongue taking the catch.

Simpson clearly did not have much faith in Jayden Seales's ability to stick around and was trying to eke out as many as possible.

It has been a great knock from the Sussex skipper who looked like he could have gone on to three figures with more support.

The 17-year-old Farhan Ahmed finishes with 4-54 in the second innings and Notts will return with a chase of 148 for the win in their sights.

This game could still be done in time to watch Forest take on City at Wembley.

  19. Postpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 300 v Sussex 169 & 278-9 (lead by 147 runs)

Big shout from both Josh Tongue and Kyle Verreynne for a caught behind after John Simpson has a swish at a shortish ball but umpire Ian Blackwell is unmoved.

  20. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 367 v Somerset 283 & 30-2

Dan Lawrence will see out the session with the ball.

Josh Davey is defending from the crease which may be a risky option given Tom Lammonby's dismissal.

He's forward to the fourth ball, blocking to the on side.

An off drive is picked up in the covers and the last ball of the over is blocked in front of the stumps. Lunchtime.

Somerset wrapped up the Surrey innings inside the first hour this morning but have got off to a precarious start with a couple of freakish dismissals.

Archie Vaughan was brilliantly caught down the leg side via an orthodox leg glance off a loose ball from Dan Worrall and Tom Lammonby was pinned LBW playing back to a straight ball from Dan Lawrence.

Josh Davey has done a decent job as a makeshift number three and he will lunch on 17 not out off 44 balls.

Tom Abell is yet to get off the mark after facing a couple of deliveries.

    The innings deficit is 54.
