    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 37-3

Jordan Cox has had to curb his natural game, given the match situation, and he is yet to add to his overnight 14.

Cox has faced 43 balls so far and he has to be alert to jab down on a ball from Jack White that stayed low.

It's all about keeping wickets intact for Essex today.

  2. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 101-3 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

Five around the bat for Worcestershire, with a silly mid-off and a short leg in addition to two slips as Callum Parkinson twirls away but Ben Brown negotiates a maiden over without alarm.

    He's scored 11 runs from 61 deliveries.

His side need to do this for 88 more overs, with seven wickets in hand.

  3. 'Yorkshire will be very enthusiastic'published at 11:39 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 37-3

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

Pleased to see that the game's on and we've only lost six overs.

There was a bit of mizzle then it became drizzle and pleased to report it got a bit lighter.

Yorkshire will be very enthusiastic for today.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lammonby c Ahmed b Patterson-White 7 (Somerset 379 & 28-3 v Notts 509)

There is only one Notts fielder on the leg-side - but one is all you need if a batter is careless.

Tom Lammonby pulls a short one from Liam Patterson-White and unerringly picks out Farhan Ahmed at mid-wicket, who barely has to move before pouching the catch.

Patterson-White now has figures of 3-17.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 2 July

    Bancroft lbw Harris 16 (Glamorgan 528 v Glos 380 & 44-1)

Big wicket for Glamorgan as Cameron Bancroft plays slightly across the line to one from James Harris and is leg-before.

Gloucestershire are still 104 in arrears as Ollie Price joins Joe Phillips.

  6. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 21-2 v Notts 509

Mohammad Abbas tries out Tom Lammonby with a short one. He appears to play it a little late but gets enough bat on it to reach the square leg boundary - the first four of his innings.

  7. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 97-3 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

As you might imagine it's slow going under the leaden skies of the Utilita Bowl.

Ben Brown and Tilak Varma have added 24 runs from 100 balls, with just 11 coming in the opening half-hour this morning.

Worcestershire need seven wickets, but they are not going to get them cheaply, on this evidence.

  8. 50 runs

for Wayne Madsenpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 2 July

Derbyshire 164-3 - target 513 to beat Lancs

So far, so good for Derbyshire.

James Anderson strays onto Wayne Madsen's pads and he taps square on the leg side before completing a slightly hesitant single, bringing up his second half-century of the match from 86 balls with eight fours.

The run rate is a hair below three an over and the required rate is a hair below four.

Nothing on the radar to concern us just yet either.

  9. 'I think we'll be here for a while'published at 11:30 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 91-3 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec – trail by 372

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Worcestershire need to take seven Hampshire wickets today to win the game before the 96 overs up.

Hampshire need to keep as many of those seven in tact to come out with a draw. It's a simple equation.

I think we'll be here for a while. As well as Worcestershire have bowled, I shouldn't think they are going to rattle seven wickets off any time soon.

I'm sure Worcestershire went to bed last night thinking that this could be a long day. But they've played so well they've got themselves into a good position. It must have been a satisfying night for Worcestershire and over the past few nights with the way things have been going.

  10. Postpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 35-3

Belatedly, we're under way at Clifton Park with six overs lost from the day's schedule - so 90 to be bowled in total and we've just witnessed the first of them, delivered by Ben Coad.

Simon Harmer adds a couple to the Essex total to reduce the deficit to 56.

  11. Bad light stops play at Hovepublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 108-1

As we feared... the players head off and the covers head on.

    A pre-emptive strike.

It's officially for light, now, but the rain will be here very soon too.

Hearts in mouths in the Somerset dressing room.

Tom Lammonby offers no shot to a ball from Liam Patterson-White which spins back in and just misses off stump.

Let's give the batter the benefit of the doubt and say that was a good leave.

  13. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 2 July

    Derbyshire 155-3 - target 513 to beat Lancs – need 374

James Anderson sends in the final ball of his 14th over to Wayne Madsen and this one keeps low as it skids past the outside edge and through to the keeper.

Plenty to keep the Red Rose attack interested, and make things a little unsettling for the Derbyshire skipper and Brooke Guest.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 2 July

    Dickson lbw Patterson-White 6 (Somerset 379 & 18-2 v Notts 509)

Liam Patterson-White continues to torment Sean Dickson and produces another fine delivery which turns past the bat and hits him in front.

The pressure on Somerset increases as Tom Lammonby comes out to the middle.

  15. Play to begin at midday at the Kia Ovalpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 343-9

The rain has stopped falling in south London and - provided it stays away - we should get some cricket from midday onwards.

Surrey will need to take 11 Durham wickets in the time that remains.

  16. 50 runs

for Alex Daviespublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 101-1

The skipper is doing what he needs to do.

He drills Ollie Robinson down the ground to the long-on boundary to bring up his fifth half-century of the season from 89 balls with eight fours.

The radar suggests they will not be out there for an awful lot longer, however, which will benefit Bears more than Sussex if one side are to conjure up a positive result.

  17. Yorkshire and Essex to resume shortlypublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 33-3

Good news from Clifton Park, where the covers have been removed and we're due to get under way again in around five minutes' time.

A bit of news for Hampshire followers this morning....they have signed Australian all-rounder Hilton Cartwright for the remainder of their T20 Blast group games. They have only won three out of eight so far, and he will be available for their 5 July fixture away to Sussex Sharks.

  19. Postpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 14-1 v Notts 509

Spinner Liam Patterson-White strays onto leg stump and Tom Kohler-Cadmore sweeps powerfully for four.

No chance of the Somerset opener just dead batting - he'll be looking to punish anything loose that comes along.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Canterburypublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northants 649-6

The rain has arrived to halt Northamptonshire's progress - but not before Saif Zaib had advanced to his highest score in first-class cricket.

The left-hander, who's enjoying a stellar season with the bat, has moved on to 160 not out, with Justin Broad on 122.

Their partnership stands at 225 and Northamptonshire have extended their lead over Kent to 83.
