  1. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Yorkpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 48-6

More rain at Clifton Park - and further frustration for Yorkshire.

They were due to resume just now after an early lunch but, no sooner had the players returned to the middle than the rain did as well.

Another delay, then - and that'll mean more overs lost from the game.

  2. Glos 'oughta know' way for draw with Glamorganpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 2 July

    Glamorgan 528 v Gloucestershire 380 & 108-3 - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Three wickets in the morning session represented a reasonable return for Glamorgan as they pursue victory, though Gloucestershire go into the afternoon just 40 behind and favourites to save the draw.

Gloucestershire's survival chances were enhanced by the absence of leg-spinner Mason Crane, one of the main home hopes on a fourth day, though injury.

But after an untroubled first half-hour, James Harris's first ball accounted for Cameron Bancroft, lbw for 16, and in the next over Joe Phillips (28) turned Ben Kellaway to short-leg where Asa Tribe took a fine reflex catch.

Ollie Price and Miles Hammond seemed well settled before Price drove at Kellaway and was well caught behind for 22.

Thankfully the Alanis Morrisette soundcheck at an nearby open-air venue seems to have come to an end, with the sound of a roadie counting repeatedly to 10 not helping the atmosphere at Sophia Gardens.

  3. Postpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 119-1

Tom Latham oh so close to dragging onto his own stumps.

The Kiwi gets down to sweep a flighted delivery from James Coles and contorts so much he ends up whipping it two inches past his off stump with the ball running behind the stumps and almost to the boundary, allowing the Bears to run three and level the scores before Sam Hain nudges them into a narrow advantage.

  4. Somerset will 'fancy chances of keeping Notts at bay'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 112-3 v Notts 509 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A morning which started badly for Somerset with the loss of two quick wickets to leave them on 28-3, has finished much more satisfactorily, thanks to an unbroken partnership of 84 between Tom Kohler-Cadmore and James Rew.

Kohler-Cadmore has mixed watchful defence with his hallmark big hitting, one of his three sixes off Farhan Ahmed being an immense blow, which cleared the media centre on the top of the Marcus Trescothick pavilion.

The game isn't safe for Somerset, but with the ball now getting soft and the wicket still pretty flat, they'll fancy their chances of keeping Notts at bay.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 2 July

    Davies c Haines b Coles 58 (Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 113-2)

    Now then.

James Coles is tossed the ball for some left-arm spin and takes a wicket with his third ball, as Alex Davies pushes forward defensively only to squirt a catch to Tom Haines who takes it sharply at slip.

Bears remain five behind as Sam Hain joins Tom Latham, having made five straight Championship half-centuries.

  6. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 111-1

We're back under way at Hove after that 17-over rain delay and an early lunch.

Bears are nudging towards parity, just seven runs behind their hosts' first innings score, with Alex Davies and Tom Latham having put on 89 for this second wicket so far.

Long session in store as tea will be at 15:40 BST no matter what.

  8. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 2 July

    Glamorgan 528 v Gloucestershire 380 & 108-3

A tricky morning for Gloucestershire after losing openers Cameron Bancroft and Joe Phillips in successive overs at Sophia Gardens.

The latter fell to a quiet astonishing short-leg catch by Asa Tribe to give Ben Kellaway the first of his two wickets so far.

He also accounted for Ollie Price, but Miles Hammond has made an unbeaten 31 off 63 balls for the visitors, who need another 40 runs for parity in the game.

  9. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 112-3 v Notts 509

They aren't quite 'out of the trees' yet, but Somerset will probably settle for getting through the first session for the loss of only two wickets.

Both were taken by spinner Liam Patterson-White, who removed Sean Dickson and Tom Lammonby, and has figures of 3-50 from 16 overs.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore and James Rew have added 84 for the fourth wicket, with the former hitting three big sixes of young Farhan Ahmed, who retired to lick his wounds with 0-35 from five.

TKC is 56 not out, Rew has 38 and Somerset are just 18 runs short of clearing their first-innings arrears.

  10. Lunch at Southamptonpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 156-4 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

Worcestershire have taken just the one wicket of the seven they require at lunch, though it was a big one.

Tilak Varma fell to a fine ball from Callum Parkinson but they need to prise Ben Brown and Liam Dawson out after the resumption, with a new ball to call on in 12 overs.

Hampshire need to survive 65 more overs, as they are not looking likely to score the 302 runs they require to make Worcestershire bat again.

  11. Lunch at the Kia Ovalpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362 & 27-0

Surrey have already begun rotating their bowlers in this second innings, with Will Jacks and Sam Curran given an over apiece prior to lunch, but Alex Lees and Emilio Gay have made it to the interval unscathed.

Durham will need to survive for 64 more overs to secure a draw and thwart the home side's hopes of going top of the table.

  12. Lunch at Chesterfieldpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 2 July

Derbyshire 231-8 - target 513 to beat Lancs

The first hour was all Derbyshire with a 127-stand between Wayne Madsen and Brooke Guest but the second belonged to the Red Rose.

A burst of 5-33, with two wickets for Chris Green and three for George Balderson, have taken Lancashire within two wickets of their first win of the Division Two season at the ninth time of asking.

Derbyshire, like Leicestershire last night, are staring at the prospect of their first defeat, though skipper Madsen remains unbeaten on 78* - his best ever score against Lancashire.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 2 July

    Aitchison c Green b Balderson 2 (Derbyshire 231-8 - target 513 to beat Lancs)

Another for Lancashire and another for George Balderson who finds the edge of Ben Aitchison's bat and Chris Green takes a fine low catch at second slip.

  14. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Canterburypublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northants 722-6

More rain arrives at Canterbury just after Kent spinner Matt Parkinson reaches an unwanted milestone - he has now conceded 200 runs in this innings from 41 overs - and that will be lunch.

Northants have added 98 to their overnight 624-6 in 14 overs this morning - Saif Zaib has passed 900 runs for the season and is 196 not out, while Justin Broad is on 157.

The visitors lead by 156 - enough to create a few flutters among Kent followers if this rain lifts. But don't bet on a declaration until Zaib adds a few more runs.

  15. 'A wicket that looked unlikely'published at 12:53 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 140-4 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

    Dave Bradley
BBC Hereford & Worcester cricket commentator

The breakthrough that Worcestershire that they were almost desperately looking for has come.

    It is a big wicket.

It was almost out of the blue and that is what Worcestershire have to do - keep plugging away - and hoping for a ball that does something a bit special and a mistake from the batsman.

    A wicket that looked unlikely.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 2 July

    Chappell b Balderson 0 (Derbyshire 227-7 - target 513 to beat Lancs)

    Three more...

Zak Chappell becomes George Balderson's third wicket of the innings and seventh of the match.

He doesn't move his feet as he plays inside the line to one which straightens and has his off stump pegged back.

Ben Aitchison joins Wayne Madsen, solely trying to survive until lunch.

  17. Lunch at Yorkpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 48-6

The rain is clearing at Clifton Park, but they've wisely opted to go to lunch early and save some of the time remaining in this game.

Essex are facing an uphill task to save it, having lost another three wickets this morning to slump to 48-6 - still needing 43 more to make Yorkshire bat a second time.

  18. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362 & 12-0

Both Durham openers are off the mark, albeit in slightly streaky fashion - Alex Lees steered the first ball of the second innings uppishly through the gully area for four while Emilio Gay's edge off Matt Fisher flew through the slips to the rope.

Vital for the opening pair that they can survive this awkward pre-lunch spell, which will probably mean another four overs.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 2 July

    Varma c Brookes b Parkinson 47 (Hampshire 221 & 140-4 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec)

The breakthrough! And it's celebrated like it.

Tilak Varma comes forward to Callum Parkinson but can only pop into the hands of Ethan Brookes at short leg.

Big wicket, out of nothing. Varma has looked completely untroubled. The 67-run stand in nearly 35 overs across two-and-a-half hours is broken.

Liam Dawson joins Ben Brown in the salvage operation.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 2 July

    Dal b Green 13 (Derbyshire 139-3 - target 513 to beat Lancs)

Chris Green bowls Anuj Dal through the gate as he tries to swish into the covers.

The spinner is doing the business for the Red Rose.

    Four more needed for Lancashire.

Zak Chappell joins Wayne Madsen as they battle to save the game, with a new ball looming just after lunch.
