England spinner Jack Leach believes his bowling still has room for improvement despite taking six wickets on day three of Somerset's Championship game against Nottinghamshire.

It was not enough to prevent the Division One leaders from establishing a 130-run lead and Somerset now need to bat well to ensure there are no major final-day alarms.

"It was strange that the odd couple of balls would turn and then nothing would happen for a while. I’m not sure I quite worked out the pitch and will have a think about it more tonight," said Leach.

“I have bowled a lot of overs this season, but I still believe there is more to come from me."

Popcorn at the ready? Here we go...

Lancashire require seven wickets on the final day at Chesterfield to secure their first win in nine Division Two matches this season.

If Derbyshire are to remain unbeaten they will need to score 374 runs, or bat through 96 overs, providing there are no weather interventions, and we've already seen some rain pass over Queen's Park this morning.

Ashton Turner's unbeaten 121 and quickfire half-centuries from Keaton Jennings, Michael Jones and George Balderson helped Lancashire declare on 406-6 inside 74 overs yesterday afternoon - setting their hosts 513 to win.

The Red Rose picked up three early scalps but Wayne Madsen and Brooke Guest have ridden their luck and will resume on 39 and 21 respectively.

Madsen admitted: "Obviously it's a big total they've put on the board and being honest it's probably quite a challenging wicket.

"It's going to be a challenge but I can assure you that as a group we are going to be up for it and you never know, we've had some strange things happen this season in run chases so the thing for us is to be positive and look to score."

  3. Big day for Broad family at Canterburypublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 2 July

Northants all-rounder Justin Broad savoured a "very special" moment after scoring his maiden first-class century in front of his former tennis professional father at Canterbury.

Neil Broad took a day off from watching Wimbledon, where he reached the quarter-finals in the men's doubles in 1997, to see his son score an unbeaten 107 off 90 balls.

Four players have made centuries in Northants' first innings - they lead by 58 - and Broad junior said: "I've been waiting to get that for quite a while. It’s a dream come true and with my Dad watching as well it’s obviously very special.

"He’s been a big part of my cricket journey and still is today, he throws a lot of balls at me and I owe him a big thanks."

  4. 'We have to show application' - van Buurenpublished at 10:33 British Summer Time 2 July

    Glamorgan 524 v Gloucestershire 380 & 12-0

Gloucestershire all-rounder Graeme van Buuren praised the team for their efforts in the field as Glamorgan piled up a big first-innings score on day three at Sophia Gardens.

Ben Kellaway and Colin Ingram - described as the 'old goat' by van Buuren - both made centuries and the visitors need to bat long into the final day to ensure a draw.

"That was a long day on one of the hottest days of the year so far, but our energies didn't drop. We came up with some plans, bowling around the wicket, over the wicket, bumpers, and we stuck to it well," he said.

"The task is pretty simple for us, we have to show some application with the bat. I don't think there's many conversations other than to bat all day but stranger things have happened."

Brrrr, chilly this morning, isn't it?

OK, we may not see the sweltering temperatures of the past couple of days, but that should make it more comfortable for the players as we enter the final day of eight County Championship games.

Middlesex earned themselves a breather by beating Leicestershire with a day to spare in the final round of games until 22 July.

But there are some potentially enthralling finishes in store in some of the other matches, so welcome to our coverage. Play starts at 11:00.
