  1. 150 runs

for Justin Broadpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northants 715-6

Justin Broad flat bats a ball from Jaydn Denly back past the stumps and takes two, carrying him to 150 from just 127 balls.

The question 'when will this end?' has probably crossed the mind of one or two Kent players by now as the Northants first innings enters the 144th over.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 2 July

    O Price c Cooke b Kellaway 22 (Glamorgan 52 v Glos 380 & 93-3)

Ollie Price tries to drive a wider delivery from Ben Kellaway, fails to move his front foot far enough across and edges to keeper Chris Cooke.

A pre-lunch bonus wicket for Glamorgan, who are still 55 ahead.

  3. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 2 July

Derbyshire 219-3 - target 513 to beat Lancs

Anuj Dal came out into a cauldron of pressure but has negotiated a tricky spell and has just opened up his arms to drive George Balderson sweetly to long-on for four.

His side might have five wickets in hand, but they are now less than 300 runs away from the finishing line.

Wayne Madsen has 69* and Dal has 12* with eight overs remaining until the new ball is available - just after lunch, you'd imagine.

  4. Credit to Ben Rainepublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362 & 0-0

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

You have to hand it to Ben Raine. Batting on one leg last night and this morning, he's helped his side eat up vital time in their bid for survival.

It also means Surrey only have one new ball to hand today as Durham try to see out the 70 remaining overs to draw the game.

Raine was eventually out lbw for 19 as Durham were dismissed for 362. The deficit is a huge 458 runs.

The lights are on and it is gloomy at the Kia Oval. These are by far the best bowling conditions of the entire match.

First up, a tricky 23 minutes to lunch.

  5. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 136-3 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

Hands on head for Callum Parkinson.

He has got a couple of deliveries to grip the surface and turn across the crease, one of which flicked off Ben Brown's pads and raced away for four leg byes and the latest beating Tilak Varma and everything else, running away to fine leg for four byes.

Job done for Hampshire... so far.

  6. 50 runs

for Tom Kohler-Cadmorepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 89-3 v Notts 509

Tom Kohler-Cadmore tries to drive Brett Hutton and a fortuitous inside edge for a single carried him to 50 from 60 balls faced.

A good innings for his side and he certainly hasn't been afraid to go for his shots.

  7. 'Can Surrey use that new ball well?'published at 12:38 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362 & 0-0

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

We always knew that the runs really were academic because they still trail by 458, but Ben Raine's done a very good job there.

Now can Surrey use that new ball as well as they did yesterday?

  8. 700 up for Northantspublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northants 701-6

Northants reach 700 in an innings for only the fifth time in the club's history - the most recent was against Glamorgan in 2019 when they made 750 at Sophia Gardens.

The club record is 781-7 declared against Notts in 1995 - when four players made centuries, as in the current innings.

Saif Zaib is 187 not out and Justin Broad has 145.

  9. Postpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 2 July

    Glamorgan 528 v Glos 380 & 90-2

Miles Hammond sweeps Ben Kellaway in front of square for four.

Gloucestershire looking more secure now following the loss of both openers - Hammond is 25 not out - but they need another 58 to clear their deficit.

  10. Durham all outpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362

Spin does the trick for Surrey - although it's Will Jacks, brought on at the Pavilion End, who picks up the final wicket by trapping Ben Raine leg before for 19 with his first delivery.

Durham are dismissed 458 behind and it's a formality that they will be asked to bat again.

The key figure, though, is 70 - that's the minimum number of overs they will need to survive in their second innings.

  11. Postpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northants 671-6

Northants are rattling along at Canterbury after play resumed following the earlier rain.

Saif Zaib is now 175 not out and Justin Broad has 136 - the visitors lead by 112.

  12. Postpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 362-9

Surrey have switched to spin, in the shape of Dan Lawrence from the Vauxhall End, as they strive to capture this final Durham wicket and put them in again as soon as possible.

But Daniel Hogg, who is yet to increase his overnight score of nine, is defending admirably and plays out a maiden without much difficulty.

  13. Postpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 82-3 v Notts 509

Time for a change by Notts, who call up seamer Brett Hutton for his first bowl of the innings, replacing Farhan Ahmed.

No liberties taken in that over by Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who remains 47 not out.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 2 July

    Andersson b Balderson 3 (Derbyshire 203-5 - target 513 to beat Lancs)

Lovely ball from George Balderson who beats Martin Andersson's blade and kisses the top of off stump.

Lancashire are taking charge as Anuj Dale heads out to join Wayne Madsen.

Five more wickets required for a first win of the Championship season.

  15. Postpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 221 & 123-3 v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

The 50 partnership between Tilak Varma and Ben Brown with a dab into the covers by Varma off Callum Parkinson.

It came from 181 balls and has done a good job of stalling the Pears momentum as they desperately search for the seven wickets they need for victory.

    75 overs left to negotiate.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Yorkpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 2 July

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 48-6

Michael Pepper is yet to face a delivery and, after one ball of the next over from Ben Coad, the umpires decide the rain has now returned with sufficient force to halt play.

Essex will hope that rain lasts - they are reeling after losing those three wickets this morning.

  17. EARLY LUNCH AT HOVEpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 2 July

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 108-1

The rain is clearing on the south coast and an early lunch will be taken at 12.30 BST with a view to restarting play at 13:10 BST, with 17 overs lost to the weather - something which will have done the chances of a positive result no good whatsoever.

  18. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 379 & 78-3 v Notts b509

Hope they've got enough Kookaburra balls at Taunton.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore hits his biggest six yet off Farhan Ahmed, onto the roof of the commentary box.

Another ball change is necessary. Possibly time for Notts to consider ending Ahmed's agony for a bit.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 2 July

    Allison b White 2 (Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 48-6)

Off stump goes flying and Essex are six down!

Jack White sends down a beauty that squares Charlie Allison up and rips past his outside edge.

Michael Pepper comes to the middle and Essex badly need him to stick around.

  20. Postpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 359-9

Ben Raine is batting with a runner this morning but he's doing enough to frustrate the Surrey seamers for now.

As the senior batter of this last-wicket pair, Raine has taken the bulk of the strike so far - along with adding a trio of boundaries to lift the Durham total above 350.

More importantly, from the visitors' perspective, they've chewed up three more overs with their first innings still going.
