They didn't hang about at Headingley or Grace Road last week, with both games over in three days and Warwickshire and Leicestershire coming out on top against Yorkshire and Northamptonshire.

The Tykes had Joe Root and Harry Brook in their line-up for that game, but they were overshadowed by paceman Ethan Bamber, who produced match figures for Warwickshire of 9-107.

There was bad news on two counts for Essex against Somerset, they not only lost the game by three wickets, but Jordan Cox suffered an injury which put him out of England's Test against Zimbabwe.

The other three matches ended in draws although Glamorgan went mighty close against Derbyshire, who hung on with their final pair together at the crease despite Ben Kellaway's 5-101.

The County Championship continues apace with six matches making up the latest round of fixtures, starting today.

There are just two more rounds after this one before a break for the T20 Blast, so this could be a very important month for those with designs on the title or promotion.

Nottinghamshire have a four-point lead over Warwickshire in Division One, with reigning champions Surrey menacingly poised in third place, while Leicestershire - not in action this week - have a healthy 21-point advantage in the second tier.

Welcome to our coverage of round six. Play starts at 11:00.
