    Kent v Glamorgan 165-2

Kiran Carlson is the new Glamorgan batter following Sam Northeast's dismissal a few minutes ago.

He is fortunate as he edges Kashif Ali past second slip and away for four runs and two balls later pulls the paceman for another boundary.

He is 14 not out, with Asa Tribe still there on 73.

  2. ouch!

Ouch!published at 14:24 British Summer Time 9 May

    Sussex 101-6 v Worcs

Henry Nicholls is already off with a mangled finger after taking a catch to dismiss Daniel Hughes.

Now sub fielder Rob Jones has joined him after taking a proper crack on his right hand stopping that bullet from Jack Carson at cover.

They will be running out of sub fielders in the Worcs dressing room at this rate let alone finger splints and paracetamol.

  3. Postpublished at 41 overs

    Warks 161-1 v Surrey

Close, but not close enough for Surrey.

Nathan Smith whistles one past the outside edge of fellow Kiwi Tom Latham's bat but there is no nick.

Spinner Dan Lawrence will continue from the other end.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Adam Lythpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 9 May

    Essex v Yorks 99-1

Adam Lyth, YorkshireImage source, Rex Features

He's had to bide his time, but Adam Lyth makes his way to another half-century by stepping onto the back foot and guiding Simon Harmer past point for four.

Lyth gets there from 122 balls and it's the fourth time this season he's passed 50.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 9 May

    Harrison c Hurst b Phillip 29 (Northants 127-7 v Lancs)

Give me the ball, says Anderson Phillip - I'll show you how it's done.

Phillip is back on to replace George Balderson and strikes with his first delivery, having Calvin Harrison caught behind off a low inside edge.

Lancashire badly needed that, breaking the partnership of 60 between Harrison and Lewis McManus.

  6. dropped catch

Lewis McManus droppedpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 9 May

    Northants 127-6 v Lancs

If you don't catch mine, I won't catch yours.

That won't have been a genuine conversation between George Balderson and Will Williams, we're sure - yet in the over after Williams spilled a chance off Balderson at short cover, Lewis McManus is given a life at long leg.

This time Williams is the seething bowler and Balderson the fielder who fumbles the chance.

  7. 'Tom Taylor on fire'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 9 May

    Sussex 88-6 v Worcs

    Dave Bradley
    Cricket commentator

It's took me by surprise that one.

It's a great ball, it really zips in. I have a little bit of sympathy for Simpson there.

Tom Taylor is on fire - he's got a five-for. Sussex having been 80 without loss are now 88-6.

    It's a mad game, isn't it?

  8. dropped catch

Calvin Harrison droppedpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 9 May

    Northants 123-6 v Lancs

That might have been the breakthrough Lancashire were seeking - but Will Williams couldn't hold on at short cover.

Calvin Harrison, who remains at the crease on 29, drove at a short one from George Balderson and the ball just about carried to the fielder, but Northamptonshire breathe a collective sigh of relief as the partnership continues.

  9. 150 up for Warwickshirepublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 9 May

    Warks 150-1 v Surrey

How does that song go? "If it happens again I'm leaving, I'll pack my things and go."

Matthew Fisher may be feeling a little like that after another Rob Yates edge runs away for four between first slip and gully.

It wasn't any kind of chance, it was all along the ground, but still frustrating for the bowler.

Warwickshire reach 150 from the final ball of the over with a single for Yates, which takes him to 68 not out.

Worcestershire bowler Tom Taylor has five wickets

Tom Taylor has a five-for and that was a peach.

Sussex's captain shoulders arms and not unreasonably given the initial line of that ball. But it jags back wildly and takes the top of off stump.

Taylor now has a seventh first class five-wicket haul and he has laid waste to Sussex here with 5-5 in 33 deliveries.

That is what you call a match-turning performance.

  11. Postpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 9 May

    Warks 141-1 v Surrey

A 'moral victory' for Matthew Fisher - whatever one of those is - as he squares up Rob Yates and finds the edge, only for the ball to fly through a gap in the slip cordon and away for four. Yates is now on 61.

  12. 50 runs

50 partnership for McManus and Harrisonpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 9 May

    Northants 117-6 v Lancs

Credit to Lewis McManus and Calvin Harrison, whose counter-attack has brought them 50 valuable runs so far.

Both batters have played positively and Harrison latches onto a half-volley from George Balderson, steering it through the covers for four to bring up that landmark in their partnership.

Frustration may be starting to creep in for Lancashire, who would have hoped to motor through the lower-middle order after reducing their hosts to 67-6.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 27.2 overs

    Northeast c Muyeye b Stewart 42 (Kent v Glamorgan 129-2)

Sam Northeast has two half-centuries this season - but there won't be a third one today.

The Glamorgan skipper pushes hard at a ball from Grant Stewart and Twanda Muyeye takes his second catch of the day at first slip.

Northeast's dismissal ends a partnership of 95 with Asa Tribe, who responds by whipping leg-spinner Matt Parkinson away for four in the next over.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 9 May

    Haines c sub (Jones) b Taylor 53 (Sussex 81-5 v Worcs)

That is the perfect start to the afternoon session with set batsman Tom Haines on his way with the fourth ball.

If four wickets for one run prior to lunch left the hosts in a state of disarray after a solid start, this has left them scattered.

Tom Taylor, who now has 4-16, has laid waste to Sussex defences and John Simpson's side have lost FIVE wickets for a run.

  15. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 9 May

    Warks 127-1 v Surrey

Jordan Clark starts a new spell and appears to pull up a little gingerly after his opening delivery is safely negotiated by Tom Latham.

It'll take more than a minor niggle, though, to stop the Surrey all-rounder, who is always willing to accept a heavy workload.

Latham takes two to backward point from a thick edge - that's all there is for him in that over.

  16. 'Yorkshire the happier of the two sides'published at 13:48 British Summer Time 9 May

    Essex v Yorks 87-1

    Sophia Smale
Cricketer for Essex Women on BBC Essex

I think Yorkshire would have been the happier of the two sides going in at lunch.

It's played into the batters' favour so far this morning and into the afternoon now. I think they'll be happy with just losing the one wicket.

Since Shane Snater got the wicket they've really put the brakes on them actually.

  17. Back under way at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 9 May

    Notts 85-4 v Hants

A period of consolidation is in order for the hosts as the second session gets under way after losing four wickets for 20 in the run up to lunch.

James Fuller has rattled through the first over and Kyle Abbott (2-18) is ready to bowl the second to Freddie McCann.

  18. Postpublished at 31,1 overs

    Warks 125-1 v Surrey

Based on previous experience, we can expect a strong Surrey fightback over the two remaining sessions today.

But there is no Dan Worrall or Kemar Roach on this occasion and the pitch offered very little help to the seamers during the morning.

Warwickshire will be hoping that Rob Yates can 'go big' after reaching 51 not out at lunch, his first half-century since making 115 and an unbeaten 65 in the opening game of the season against Sussex.

Matthew Fisher will bowl the first over of the afternoon - he has figures of 0-11 from four so far - and Yates flicks his first delivery fine for four.

  19. 100 runs

100 up for Northantspublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 9 May

    Northants 101-6 v Lancs

Back under way after lunch and Calvin Harrison wastes no time in lifting the home side's total into three figures, steering the first ball of the session from Anderson Phillip through the covers for three.

However, Lancashire will be more than happy with that wickets column, which currently stands at six.

  20. Haines stands alone for Sussexpublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 9 May

    Sussex 81-4 v Worcestershire - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

This game has turned on its head with Sussex collapsing from 80 without loss to 81-4 at lunch

A combination of some excellent line and length bowling from Tom Taylor, in particular, coupled with some poor shots from the Sussex middle order, and Worcestershire will feel their decision to bowl first has been vindicated.

Tom Haines has stood alone for Sussex, mixing attacking shots with resolute defence in his 53 not out, and has again looked in excellent form
