  1. dropped catch

Marcus Harris droppedpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 9 May

    Northants 238 v Lancs 82-3

Northamptonshire might look back and regret this.

Harry Conway lures Marcus Harris into a sharp edge and, in fairness to Calvin Harrison at third slip, it would have been a great take moving low to his right.

But the ball doesn't stick and Harris survives on 28. Vital for Lancashire that he makes it through to stumps, you suspect.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 9 May

    Ahmed c Prest b Wheal 5 (Notts 320-9 v Hants)

That is too fast, too short and has got Farhan Ahmed in a right muddle.

Brad Wheal bangs it in just over halfway down the track and Farhan Ahmed's instinctive reaction is to hook but he gets tightened up in the swivel and gloves it to first slip.

Tom Prest takes an easy catch at first slip.

  3. 100 runs

100 for Carsonpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 9 May

    Sussex 279-9 v Worcs

Ben Allison strays down leg and Jack Carson pounces to hammer a boundary past the midwicket rope rider whose dive is in vain.

That is a maiden first class century for Carson who celebrates in vigorous fashion, saluted by a packed Sussex balcony.

There were 11 fours, one six and it took 128 deliveries. Considering he came when Sussex were in bother at 88-6, that is some knock.

  4. Third batting point for Bearspublished at 89.3 overs

    Warks 350-4 v Surrey

Nathan Smith bangs one in short to Ed Barnard, who pulls it down to fine leg for a single as Warwickshire reach 350. Barnard is 29 not out, with Tom Latham still there on 134.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 9 May

    Elgar c Lyth b Hill 9 (Essex 23-2 v Yorkshire 216)

Essex's innings hasn't really gathered pace - and now they've lost a second wicket.

Dean Elgar's always capable of batting deep - but he won't do that this time because he's snapped up at second slip, nibbling outside off stump at George Hill.

Are Yorkshire bowling their way back into this?

Jamie Porter comes out as nightwatchman with 6.3 overs to survive.

  6. wicket

    Cooke b Ali 15 (Kent v Glamorgan 366-6)

Kashif Ali takes a wicketImage source, Getty Images

    Gone, emphatically gone.

Kashif Ali flattens Chris Cooke's off stump and now has four wickets for Kent in this innings.

Timm van der Gugten comes out to join Ben Kellaway, who is 85 not out.

  7. 'A good number for Nottinghamshire'published at 17:53 British Summer Time 9 May

    Notts 304-8 v Hants

    Kevin Howells
    BBC Test Match Special commentator

Well they've got to 300 and they'll be delighted with that number, this is good for Nottinghamshire.

We were talking about the way Sussex had lost wickets (at Hove), let's just remind ourselves it was four down with nearly 80-odd on the board at lunchtime for Nottinghamshire.

They got through the first hour, the second hour the wickets fell. The afternoon session was a joy to listen to, just the one wicket fell.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 9 May

    Hutton c Brown b Abbott 5 (Notts 304-8 v Hants)

Little breezy from Brett Hutton and he has paid with a nick which Ben Brown takes comfortably.

Kyle Abbott has a 43rd career five-for (5-46) but Hants will be fairly frustrated that they have not been able to make better use of this day.

  9. Postpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 9 May

    Northants 238 v Lancs 64-3

Matty Hurst is up and running - although he might have been on his way without scoring, having clipped Liam Guthrie to midwicket where Saif Zaib flung himself to his left and almost pulled off a stunning catch.

But the ball rolls loose and Hurst picks up an couple of runs. Marcus Harris is at the other end on 16 and probably the man Northamptonshire need to remove sooner rather than later if they're to take full control of this game.

  10. Postpublished at 86.1 overs

    Kent v Glamorgan 357-5

There's the third batting point for Glamorgan as Chris Cooke picks up a couple off Grant Stewart.

Kashif Ali starts the next over with a snorter to Ben Kellaway, which takes the shoulder of the bat and flies over the slips for four.

Unlucky for the bowler, but Kellaway now has 77 not out.

  11. 300 runs

300 for Nottspublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 9 May

    Notts 300-7 v Hants

Another elegant straight drive from Freddie McCann, this time off Brad Wheal, brings up a second bonus batting point for Notts.

  12. Postpublished at 85.1 balls

    Warks 332-4 v Surrey

The new ball hasn't really done any more than the old one for Surrey and Tom Latham has plenty of time to dab Nathan Smith down to third man for four at the start of a new over.

The left-hander has 126, Ed Barnard is 21 not out and that boundary has brought up a 50 partnership from 81 balls.

  13. Postpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 9 May

    Essex 7-1 v Yorks 216

Essex are finding runs difficult to come by in their reply so far, although Tom Westley is off the mark by clipping Ben Coad for a couple on the leg side.

Dean Elgar has just a single to his name and the home side could really do with both of this experienced pair to safely negotiate the 11 remaining overs tonight.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 9 May

    Patterson-White b Abbott 33 (Notts 290-7 v Hants)

Liam Patterson-White is looking at his bat in disgust after that and he is probably wondering why he didn't try and use it.

The Notts all-rounder shoulders arms and has to listen to the rattle behind him as the ball nips back off the pitch and clatters his off stump.

That is a fourth wicket for Kyle Abbott who has 4-41.

  15. 'Yorkshire will be happy with the early wicket'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 9 May

    Essex 5-1 v Yorks 216

    Sophia Smale
Cricketer for Essex Women on BBC Essex

There's nothing wrong with that decision from the umpire.

It's well bowled, that awkward length of 'can I play it can I leave it?' I feel like you have to play that as a batter.

Yorkshire will be really happy that they've got one early doors here. It will be tough for Essex losing an early wicket, the two out there now will need to really settle and build a partnership.

  16. Missed stumpingpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 9 May

    Sussex 262-9 v Worcs

Gareth Roderick has missed the chance to end the Sussex innings.

Fateh Singh has encouraged James Hayes to dance down the track and launch it and he misses but Roderick, who has kept well today, has fluffed the gather.

That will be intensely annoying for Worcs who could have done with ending this.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 9 May

    Allison c Bairstow b Coad 4 (Essex 5-1 v Yorkshire 216)

Early wicket for Ben Coad as Yorkshire look to hit back!

Charlie Allison is on his way, nudging at one outside off stump on its way into the waiting gloves at Jonny Bairstow.

Bairstow's opposite number, Essex skipper Tom Westley, makes his way to the middle.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 9 May

    Jennings b Conway 41 (Northants 238 v Lancs 59-3)

Harry Conway, NorthantsImage source, Getty Images

    Big wicket for Northamptonshire!

Harry Conway has really deserved this and he brings one back to bowl Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings, possibly off an inside edge.

Matty Hurst is in at number five for the visitors.

  19. Postpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 9 May

    Essex 4-0 v Yorks 216

Charlie Allison gets the scoreboard moving in the Essex reply, steering Jack White to the third man boundary.

Allison is opening in only his fourth first-class appearance alongside Dean Elgar, who has rather a lot more games on his record.

  20. new ball

New ballpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 9 May

    Notts 277-6 v Hants

Kyle Abbott races in to take the second new ball for Hants which is no surprise given how the momentum has switched from visitors to hosts.

Abbott, who took 3-30 earlier, could have finished off Notts single-handedly in the first two sessions but got no luck.

In truth, this has rather got away from Hampshire.
