  2. 'Fearless cricket is what we are about in these conditions'published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

England captain Heather Knight: “I am really pleased with the team. It’s what we are about as a batting team, Danni and Nat showing their expertise. I wish I could bat like them on this pitch! We want to push for the three-nil win now.

“Fearless cricket is what we are about in these conditions. The game is there to take on and we did that well, especially losing two wickets early on. Amy picked up some great boundaries too which really helped.

“We showed great discipline with the ball. Lauren [Filer] playing on this pitch was really nice to see. We started and won the powerplay which put them on the back foot and we continued to take wickets throughout the game which was great. Looking forward to Saturday.”

Player of the match, England spinner Sarah Glenn: “It’s a great achievement. I wasn’t expecting to be player of the match. Danni [Wyatt-Hodge] was awesome and Nat Sciver-Brunt as well coming in and doing her thing. And the brilliant cameo of Heather Knight at the end, I thought we did really well.

“I tried to not drift away from protecting the boundaries so focused on just getting wickets. The pitch suited me so I wanted to keep it simple and use the pace."

  4. 'Still so much to play for'published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt: "Not our best performance all-round. We let them get too many with the bat because we didn't take our chances in the field.

"We had plans, but I think we got a bit carried away with the extra bounce in the pitch and we went too short and wide. A lot of runs were scored through the off side whereas when I was batting, I felt really cramped for room and they executed that much better than we did.

"There was a lot of pressure on the youngsters but it also gives a bit of a free hit. It just didn't go that way for us tonight.

"We've still got so much to play for, we have got plenty of time to rectify those things throughout the summer."

Sarah Glenn led the bowling attack with her excellent 4-20 as South Africa reached 168-6 in response - actually, a very decent effort as they could've easily crumbled under the scoreboard pressure.

There were plenty of cameos with Laura Wolvaardt, Faye Tunnicliffe, Annerie Dercksen, Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk all passing 20 but no standout effort to get them close to the mammoth total.

De Klerk finished unbeaten with 32 from 21 balls while it was a rare off-night for Sophie Ecclestone, who finished with 0-30.

Glenn is named player of the match and we'll hear from her, alongside the two captains, next.

A big win, set up by Danni Wyatt-Hodge's brutal 78 from 45 balls and Nat Sciver-Brunt's unbeaten 67 from 43.

South Africa were left to rue a sloppy fielding performance with both players dropped in the 20s, and a poor bowling effort which lacked consistency throughout.

England posted 204-5, their joint third-highest total in T20s and from there, the hosts needed a miracle.

As comfortable as it gets for England.

They win the T20 series with a game to spare as South Africa finish on 168-6.

A very unlikely 49 runs are needed from the final over but Sinalo Jafta gives the crowd something to cheer, lofting Sophie Ecclestone down the ground for six before dabbing the next ball for four more.

    Target 205

    Back-to-back fours again!

The first is pulled past square leg and the second slammed down the ground to complete Nat Sciver-Brunt's spell of 1-32.

21 of them have come from that over alone.

Nadine de Klerk really ought to be higher up the order for South Africa - she has 31 from 20 balls so far.

  10. 6 runs

    Huge!

Nadine de Klerk slog sweeps Nat Sciver-Brunt for an incredible six, before getting slightly luckier with a streaky edge for four.

Lovely! Sinalo Jafta lofts the last ball of the over for four with an inside-out drive past cover.

A frustrating end to a fantastic spell from Glenn, who finishes with 4-20.

Sarah Glenn has had a very good night with the ball. Once again, taking the pace off and enticing Chloe Tryon into the big heave. A good comeback from her, as someone who has been struggling to find consistent wickets recently.

    Sarah Glenn has four!

Full, straight and cleaned up once again as Chloe Tryon misses a sweep.

A decent effort of 30 from 24 balls, but South Africa have needed more than just cameos.

It will be a little bit of a frustration for Sophie Ecclestone to not take any wickets yet. In the last game she was excellent and she changed up her pace well but she hasn't really done that today.

She may feel under pressure as she is changing the angle at which she bowls at the wickets.

  16. SA 125-5published at 17 overs

    Target 205

Nadine de Klerk drives sweetly through the covers for four to continue Sophie Ecclestone's expensive evening - she's conceded 28 from her three overs.

South Africa require a very, very unlikely 80 from the last 18 balls.

  17. SA 118-5published at 16 overs

    Target 205

Another economical over from Nat Sciver-Brunt, who hits Nadine de Klerk in the stomach and on the boot during the over.

The South African all-rounder is having a tough time out there.

OK, this is harsh because it would've been an absolute speccy from Sophia Dunkley.

Nadine de Klerk chips one to square leg where a diving Dunkley gets her left hand to it, but can't cling on.

Chloe Tryon is looking good out there and is hitting this very cleanly. It's almost too little too late and it's a shame she has so much to do.

  20. 6 runs

    SA 114-5published at 15 overs

    Target 205

Chloe Tryon adds a slight blemish to Sarah Glenn's figures with an almighty wallop over square leg for six.

Glenn still has a very, very decent 3-14 with one over remaining.
