England have been really clinical with this ball.

The total feels a long way away for South Africa now.

  2. SA 106-5published at 14 overs

    Target 205

    Hello!

Too little too late from South Africa's point of view but some very welcome aggression from Chloe Tryon.

She whacks Sophie Ecclestone for back-to-back fours - which very few batters have ever achieved - through mid-wicket.

Ecclestone has bowled two overs for 22 today.

  3. SA 94-5published at 13 overs

    Target 205

Three dots, with Chloe Tryon getting nowhere near them.

Tryon then gets lucky with a top edge that flies over Amy Jones for four.

Lauren Filer has bowled much better than her figures of 0-30 suggest.

  4. SA 90-5published at 12.1 overs

With that pace, however, comes a loss of control at times.

Chloe Tryon thumps a full toss down the ground for four.

Lauren Filer's average ball speed in this match has been 120.1 kph, the fastest of any England bowler in T20I history. She has beaten her own record average speed set against New Zealand this summer of 117.9 kph.

As usual, Sarah Glenn gets it to skid straight through to the wicket. Glenn, again, has taken the pace off, which is working for the spinners. She has been very accurate and probably feels a lot of relief, knowing she is at her best tonight.

You can see her excitement in her celebration.

  7. SA 86-5published at 12 overs

    Target 205

    Nadine de Klerk survives.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.5 overs

    Shangase b Glenn 0 (SA 86-5)

    Two in two!

This could all unravel pretty quickly now for South Africa.

Nondumiso Shangase is bowled, prodding uncertainly at a full-length delivery and Sarah Glenn is on a hat-trick!

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.4 overs

    Dercksen b Glenn 24 (SA 86-4)

Annerie Dercksen's fun comes to an end.

Another batter tries to swipe against the spin and Sarah Glenn is on target.

However, an entertaining and promising cameo from Dercksen who departs for 24 from 15 balls.

A good move from Heather Knight to try and rush Chloe Tryon with Lauren Filer. Filer didn't used to have much pace but she has worked so hard with the coaches to combine that with the shape she has. She also hides the ball behind her as she runs, which must be so hard for a batter facing her.

  11. SA 84-3published at 11 overs

    Target 205

Filer gets away with the free-hit as she nails her yorker legally this time, which is a dot ball.

It's followed by a wide before a beauty beats Chloe Tryon for pace. Filer is still pretty raw and erratic but you can see why England are so excited about investing in her - when she gets it right, she's such a handful.

  12. SA 82-3published at 10.4 overs

Oh no, Lauren Filer's had a shocker.

A perfect fast yorker bowls Annerie Dercksen but the third umpire calls a no-ball!

  13. SA 81-3published at 10.3 overs

    Glorious!

Annerie Dercksen makes the most of Lauren Filer's pace and whips the ball through mid-wicket for four.

England are so far ahead of the game now but they need to keep standards up; they can't let it get sloppy.

Charlie Dean has a very good record against South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt.

The off-spinner has got Wolvaardt out four times, and only conceded 53 runs from the 41 balls bowled to her.

  16. SA 76-3published at 10 overs

    Target 205

Great commitment to entertaining from young Annerie Dercksen.

She scoops Charlie Dean for four, but in the process ends up in the splits and has to get up and run without her bat - even though it turns out the running wasn't necessary in the end.

Dean then grimaces in frustration as she gifts South Africa five runs with a wide that also beats Amy Jones.

At the halfway mark, South Africa are way behind the rate but to their credit, they haven't crumbled.

Charlie Dean took the pace off again and entices Laura Wolvaardt into the full-blooded drive. Wolvaardt wasn't really able to get going at all and it's going to be down to Tryon and Dercksen now if South Africa have any hope.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.3 overs

    Wolvaardt c Filer b Dean 25 (SA 66-3)

The perfect response from Charlie Dean.

A little fuller, tempting Laura Wolvaardt into a cover drive, which she usually plays so elegantly.

But it flies off the outside edge and Lauren Filer takes a sharp catch at short third.

  19. SA 66-2published at 9.2 overs

    Back-to-back boundaries from Laura Wolvaardt.

The first is pulled sweetly past square leg but the second is thanks to a shocker from Nat Sciver-Brunt, who clumsily lets one through her legs at long-off.

Turns out she does make mistakes sometimes!

Sarah Glenn is having her best year in an England shirt in T20 cricket. She has 22 wickets at an average of 11.59 and an economy of 5.03 in 2024. The most wickets and lowest economy and average of any year since her debut in 2019.
