  1. Close of play at Headingleypublished at 18:01 BST 24 September

    Yorks v Durham 322-7

Matthew Potts plays out with a defensive block to George Hill as the players take their leave at the end of a hard fought opening day.

Potts has 23 and Ben Raine an unbeaten 87 and Durham can be pretty pleased with their efforts battling for their Division One lives.

Yorkshire were were six points to the good over their visitors at the start of play and it remains the same after both sides take two bonus points.

Such parity did not seem too likely for the visitors when they were rocked at 7-2 and 51-3.

David Bedingham's 93, ended with a superb running catch from slip by George Hill, provided much heft to the recovery effort as did Raine combative knock.

Potts walks off with Raine but Yorks will kick themselves that he was not doing so on 7 when Jonny Bairstow spilled a catchable chance behind the stumps.

Still lots still in the balance going in to day two.

  2. Close of play at Chelmsfordpublished at 18:01 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 339-6

A very good day for Somerset, who accelerated markedly after tea, adding 128-2 after the interval.

Lewis Goldsworthy will resume on 61 not out with Craig Overton, who has 31 off just 38 balls.

Essex will breathe a little more easily with two bowling bonus points, but will still need to earn at least a draw to be sure of Division One safety.

  3. Postpublished at 17:57 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 240-5

If the light holds, we have 10 overs left here and potentially six overs for Notts with the new ball.

Dan Mousley faces left arm spinner Liam Patterson-White on 61 not out.

He gets a single sweeping and Ed Barnard sweeps firmly through square leg for four to move on to 46 not out.

He goes back to the fifth ball, pushing through cover for one.

single to Dan Mousley in the off side.

  4. Close of play at Sophia Gardenspublished at 17:55 BST 24 September

    Glamorgan 265 v Lancashire 55-0

Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells ensure Lancashire head into day two with all their wickets intact.

The duo have pushed their side onto 55 for no loss from 20 overs after Glamorgan were bowled out for 265.

Timm van der Gugten was the only man to make it over 50 as Tom Bailey did the damage for Lancashire with 5-51 from 19.2 overs.

  5. Postpublished at 17:53 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 227-5

Dan Mousley hasn't quite timed a drive down the ground off Lyndon James but the shot is still enough for a single and the 100 partnership with Ed Barnard off 149 balls.

  6. Close of play at Lord'spublished at 17:52 BST 24 September

    Middlesex 394-5 v Glos

A great day with the bat for Middlesex with skipper Leus du Plooy playing a starring role with an unbeaten 171.

Joe Cracknell is not out on 63, while Ben Geddes and Luke Hollman also hit half-centuries.

Gloucestershire's main man was Ajeet Singh Dale who took four wickets - he now has 39 for the season.

  7. Postpublished at 17:51 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 335-5

Craig Overton is in the mood here.

He takes three fours off Charlie Bennett's over (his 13th) with a glance to fine leg and a pair of crunching drives through the off side.

Lewis Goldsworthy brings up the 50 partnership in the next over with a clip to square leg off Noah Thain - then gets away with a rather more streaky boundary, edged low past second slip.

    Notts v Warwicks 212-5

    Richard Wilford

A very fine half-century for Dan Mousley.

He's brought positivity to the batting part of the game for the first time today.

  10. Postpublished at 17:43 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 211-5

Lyndon James to bowl to Dan Mousley, who is on 49.

He clips the second ball to square leg for one to reach his 50 off 62 balls with six fours.

That's his fifth score of 50 or more this season with a top score of 113.

  11. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 17:40 BST 24 September

    Kent v Derbyshire 389-2

No doubt who is in top in this one as Derbyshire end day one on 389 for the loss of only two wickets.

Wayne Madsen has been scoring quickly since reaching 100 and finishes the day three runs short of 150.

Opener Luis Reece has been at the crease all day and will come back tomorrow morning looking to add to his 123. Aneurin Donald also made 55 earlier.

For Kent, it's been another dispiriting day for the side that is guaranteed to finish bottom of Division Two.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Lewis Goldsworthypublished at 17:39 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 313-6

Noah Thain will bowl from the Graham Gooch End to Craig Overton, who turns the ball away leg side for one.

A leg side ball disappears fine for four leg byes.

  13. Two batting points for Durhampublished at 17:39 BST 24 September

    Yorks v Durham 302-7

Ben Raine brings up the second bonus point for the visitors with another huge six straight off Jack White, the fourth of his innings.

As it stands Durham close the gap to Hants back to two points in the battle for the last relegation spot or, more accurately, the avoidance thereof.

  14. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 17:36 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 392-7

Apart from a little wobble either side of lunch, Leicestershire have bossed this game against a somewhat makeshift Northants bowling attack missing the guile and experience of Ben Sanderson and Luke Procter.

From the depths of 110-4, the Division Two champions have fought back to a position of strength.

Stephen Eskinazi leaves the field unbeaten on 150, the highest first class score of his career.

  15. Bad light stops play at New Roadpublished at 17:35 BST 24 September

    Worcs 123 v Sussex 228-5 (lead by 105 runs)

The players are off and the gloomy overheads suggest that could be it for the night.

Sussex are over three figures to the good after a brilliant century from James Coles during which he passed 1,000 for the campaign.

He was ably supported by skipper John Simpson who raced to 62 in an energetic supporting act.

Sussex are completely in control of this contest already.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Joe Cracknellpublished at 17:34 BST 24 September

    Middlesex 381-5 v Glos

Joe Cracknell reaches 50 and his partnership with Leus du Plooy is one shy of 100.

They're also approaching their fourth batting point.

  18. dropped catch

Potts dropped on 7published at 17:32 BST 24 September

    Yorks v Durham 288-7

This should have been taken... Matthew Potts toe ends a cross batted show off George Hill and Jonny Bairstow can't hang on behind the stumps.

It actually appeared to go in then out and Bairstow lies flat on the ground annoyed with himself for missing another Durham wicket.

  19. 150 runs

150 for Stephen Eskinazipublished at 17:30 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 392-7

He's gone big, reaching the landmark in 225 balls with 18 fours and two sixes.

He drives Nirvan Ramesh to long on for one to complete the feat.

Comfortably his highest score this season and also the highest score of his first class career.

  20. 'Hampshire need to address batting'published at 17:30 BST 24 September

    Hants 106-3 v Surrey 147

    Michael Carberry
Former England batter on BBC Radio Solent

Not a good shot from Fletcha Middleton, who has a big swipe across the line.

It's another Hampshire batter getting in and getting out - it reflects their season as a whole and it's something they need to address.
