  1. Tea at New Roadpublished at 16:02 BST 24 September

    Worcs 123 v Sussex 157-4

From a position of some peril at 67-4, Sussex have grabbed this day by the scruff of its neck with John Simpson and James Coles rattling along to a 90 run partnership.

Worcs have not bowled with any great direction with Ben Allison, Ben Gibbon and Ethan Brookes all going at over a run a ball.

The first named has at least caused some damage with 3-50 but it has been loose from Worcs with bat and ball over the two sessions.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Wayne Madsenpublished at 16:01 BST 24 September

    Kent v Derbyshire 262-2

Wayne Madsen becomes the third Derbyshire batter of the innings to reach a half-century.

It came off 81 balls in 94 minutes.

Aneurin Donald made 55 earlier and Luis Reece is five runs away from a first century of the campaign.

  3. 1,000 for the season for Colespublished at 15:59 BST 24 September

    Worcs 123 v Sussex 157-4

James Coles pulls Matthew Waite for four to bring up a half century in 55 balls and also his 1,000 for the season.

He follows it up with another boundary although not quite where he intended given he was looking straighter and it sneaks to the backward point rope.

  4. Rew passes 1000 runs for the seasonpublished at 15:54 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 211-4

James Rew is 42 not out and has passed the 1000-run mark for Somerset this season in this innings.

He is also eight runs away from his eighth score of 50 or more in a fine season in which he has scored three centuries.

Plenty of time for that 50 landmark. 30 overs left tonight.

  5. 'Very good day for Hampshire against flat Surrey'published at 15:54 BST 24 September

    Hants 44-1 v Surrey 147

    Michael Carberry
Former England batter on BBC Radio Solent

It's been a very good day for Hampshire.

If you'd offered them this at the start of the day, they would have chewed your hand off.

Surrey have looked very flat out there.

  6. 'Notts getting closer'published at 15:50 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 127-5

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

A little bit of extra bounce does for Malik.

It was a promising start from the SACA graduate, but this is all part of the learning process at county level for him.

    Notts are getting themselves closer.

  7. Tea at the Utilita Bowlpublished at 15:50 BST 24 September

    Hants 44-1 v Surrey 147

Hants will be pleased enough with a positive start to their chase of Surrey's under-par total at a cost of just one wicket even if Ali Orr will be still simmering about his dismissal.

Nick Gubbins is yet to score with Fletcha Middleton on 11.

  8. Postpublished at 15:49 BST 24 September

    Worcs 123 v Sussex 134-4

Ben Gibbons has proved a little too expensive to warrant more than three overs going for 0-25 and is replaced by Ethan Brookes.

But Gibbons could be back on soon enough if his first four balls are anything to go by as John Simpson bookends two singles off back to back fours on his first four deliveries.

  9. Play resumes at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:48 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 211-4

James Rew will face leg spinner Matt Critchley first up on 42 not out.

He's added 27 runs with Lewis Goldsworthy, who has 11.

  10. Coles should be 'inked in for Lions tour'published at 15:45 BST 24 September

Not for the first time this season James Coles and John Simpson are leading the Sussex revival.

Both are closing in on 1000 runs for the season and in the case of Coles he must be inked in for the Lions trip to Australia.

This pair have now passed the 50 partnership and on a day of 14 wickets to far have made batting look comfortable.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:45 BST 24 September

    Malik c Verreynne b James 20 (Notts v Warwicks 127-5)

Two wickets in two overs for Notts who are cantering to the Division One title.

A bit more bounce from Lyndon James - who has Zen Malik squared up and stuck on the crease, edging to the keeper, Kyle Verreynne.

Dan Mousley is next to try and rebuild the innings.

  12. Postpublished at 15:42 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 127-4

Ed Barnard is forward to Dillon Pennington, defending down the ground.

He drives the second ball but is stopped by Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed at mid on.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:40 BST 24 September

    Hain c Verreynne b Pennington 21 (Notts v Warwicks 127-4)

Dillon Pennington is back into the Notts attack and his first ball is full and whipped leg side for a single by Zen Malik.

Tea will be taken at 4pm here after a couple of rain delays earlier today.

Out! Sam Hain is forward to defend and gets a thin edge low to keeper Kyle Verreynne.

That is the keeper's 350th first class dismissal.

    Ed Barnard is in next.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:37 BST 24 September

    Orr c Foakes b Lawes 32 (Hants 39-1 v Surrey 147)

A disappointing way to go for Ali Orr as he tries to flick off his legs and gets a feather on it.

Ben Foakes had already moved a step to his left and doesn't have to bust a gut to take a shin high catch behind.

  15. Postpublished at 15:36 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 255-6

    Wicket maiden from Rob Keogh.

Nirvan Ramesh tosses the ball up to Stephen Eskinazi, who drives through the off side for a single to move to 81.

  16. Postpublished at 15:35 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 126-3

Sam Hain is forward and across to Lyndon James, clipping the bowler fine for two.

One more run nudged to leg.

Zen Malik is forward with a play and miss outside off.

Half forward really and that ball nibbled away.

Malik keeps the strike with a single to mid on.

  17. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:33 BST 24 September

    Yorks v Durham 193-5

David Bedingham takes it to the end of the second session and walks off unbeaten with 78. Graham Clark has provided decent support to reach 23, the partnership is 38.

A couple of wickets for Yorks from Dom Bess, who has bowled tightly, and George Hill have ensured it is a match which remains in the balance.

  18. Tea at Lord'spublished at 15:32 BST 24 September

    Middlesex 276-4 v Gloucestershire

Ben Geddes pulls a short ball from Ajeet Singh Dale authoritatively for four in the final over before the tea interval at the home of cricket.

Middlesex were rocked by losing Luke Hollman and Ryan Higgins to successive balls, leaving them 161-4.

But Leus du Plooy batted watchfully to reach a third hundred of the season and he and Geddes have so far shared an unbroken stand of 115.

Du Plooy will resume 119 not out, with his partner on 58.

  19. Play resumes at Northamptonpublished at 15:31 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 252-6

One ball left in the over from Rob Keogh, who dismissed Ben Cox just before tea.

    Liam Trevaskis is on strike.

  20. Postpublished at 15:31 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 122-3

Keeper Kyle Verreynne is standing up to the wicket to Brett Hutton, who draws Sam Hain forward to block into the off side.

The fourth ball is steered with a thick edge to deep third for one.
