  1. Experience gets the better of youthpublished at 17:28 BST 24 September

Wayne Madsen follows up two fours with a six as Derbyshire continue to enjoy themselves against Kent (who definitely aren't enjoying themselves).

It's Corey Flintoff that Madsen went after in that over - and in Flintoff's next he's again sent to the boundary in three consecutive balls.

Experience triumphing over youth there with 41-year-old Madsen getting the better of Flintoff, 19.

Madsen's partnership with Luis Reece is now worth a whopping 220.

    Middleton lbw b Lawrence 35 (Hants 106-3 v Surrey 147)

Fletcha Middleton attempts an expansive sweep and is hit by a straight one. Not much doubt from the umpire, bowler or indeed the batsman as he exits.

  3. Postpublished at 17:26 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 289-6

Craig Overton is facing Doug Bracewell, looking for his first run.

He gets it off his fifth ball, stroking from the crease into cover for one.

Lewis Goldsworthy sees out the over in style, driving down the ground for four to move on to 46.

  4. Postpublished at 17:24 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 195-5

Freddie McCann is going to have a bowl, which is a rare event.

However, he has bowled 349 off breaks up to this point this season, taking six wickets.

The third ball is reverse swept by Dan Mousley for four.

An attempted reverse sweep off the sixth ball is not timed and there's no run.

    Coles b Gibbon 102 (Worcs 123 v Sussex 222-5)

One big shot too many but that has been a superb knock.

Bit of stand and deliver about the foot movement (or lack of) and Ben Gibbon gets a lovely bit of late inswing to split middle and off.

James Coles scores a fourth century of the campaign

James Coles does no harm to his burgeoning reputation ahead of a winter in which England Lions action down under would appear likely.

The 21-year-old has over 1,000 runs and now a fourth century of the campaign and has come a long way since becoming Sussex's youngest ever first class debutant at 16 years and 157 days.

This has been an explosive and wildly entertaining knock (105 balls 16 fours and one six) and he brings it up with a lovely cover drive, reaching for a widish ball and cracking it away.

  7. Postpublished at 17:18 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 387-7

Stephen Eskinazi is playing very straight, defending the spin of Nirvan Ramesh down the ground.

No aggressive intent from the batter yet, but he cuts the fifth ball fine for two to move to 148.

96 overs bowled but we are playing on till 5:30.

  8. Postpublished at 17:16 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 189-5

Two fours off the Lyndon James over,

Dan Mousley is forward and across to the bowler, driving to long on and then lofting the ball over point.

The sixth wicket partnership with Ed Barnard is now worth 62.

    Aldridge c sub (Fernandes) b Porter 5 (Essex v Somerset 281-6)

Essex take one more step closer to Division One retention with their second bowling bonus point.

Kasey Aldridge is drawn forward into a loose drive by Jamie Porter, edging the ball to substitute keeper Simon Fernandes.

Porter has 3-41 and Craig Overton is in next.

  10. Postpublished at 17:10 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 381-7

Three overs left tonight with 400 in sight for Leicestershire.

Logan van Beek drives spinner Nirvan Ramesh but without finding a gap.

He gets a single through the off side off the fourth ball.

Stephen Eskinazi sees out the over. He's on 145.

  11. Postpublished at 17:08 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 281-5

    Maiden over from Jamie Porter.

Lewis Goldsworthy moves to 40 with two steered to deep third off Doug Bracewell.

The third ball is driven straight into the stumps - at the non-striker's end, and it should be noted without the bowler touching the ball beforehand.

Goldsworthy sees out the over. 10 left tonight.

  12. Stunning catch removes Bedingham on 93published at 17:07 BST 24 September

    Durham 245-7 v Yorkshire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham really needed David Bedingham to stick around all day, but he's just fallen to a cracking catch from George Hill.

With the new ball only three overs old, Bedingham looked to pull Jack White through the leg side, but got a thick edge off the bottom corner of the bat.

The ball shot into the air, up over the slip cordon and Hill chased what appeared to be a lost cause, all the way down to third man, before sliding in on his knees to take the catch.

It was a bitter blow for Durham, who are still five away from a vital batting point. Bedingham came in with them 7-2 after 4.1 overs this morning and faced 195 balls.

    Gubbins b Lawrence 24 (Hants 89-2 v Surrey 147)

Dan Lawrence breaks a 40-run partnership with the wicket of Nick Gubbins.

The off spinner has fired in a really straightforward but perfect delivery, angled in and turning away and taken the off stump.

  14. Postpublished at 17:03 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 169-5

Brett Hutton is back on at the Radcliffe Road End and Ed Barnard drives back to the bowler, along the ground.

Barnard gets one into the leg side.

A single to Mousley, driving to point.

The fifth ball is driven straight and a tight single is completed as the return throw from Notts captain Haseeb Hameed sends the ball just over the top of the stumps.

A leg bye ends an eventful over. 24 left if we're lucky.

  15. Postpublished at 16:59 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 279-5

Much better from Jamie Porter, who is so close to finding the edge of Lewis Goldsworthy's bat.

    13 overs left tonight.

  16. 150 runs

150 for Leus du Plooypublished at 16:59 BST 24 September

    Middlesex 330-5 v Glos

A quick single from Leus du Plooy takes the Middlesex skipper to 150 off 224 balls.

He's probably got his mind on adding plenty more to that already big score.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:57 BST 24 September

    Bedingham c Hill b White 93 (Yorks v Durham 245-7)

David Bedingham looks to whip Jack White across the line towards midwicket but gets a leading edge and it skews up high behind the slip cordon.

George Hill races back at full pelt covering about 20-25 yards and takes a stunning catch over his shoulder.

Earlier this season James Wharton took one of the best catches this watcher has seen against Sussex at Scarborough.

That was close and they can argue about which was better when they get into the dressing room tonight (for what its worth Wharton's will not be beaten... ever).

  18. 150 runs

100 for Wayne Madsenpublished at 16:56 BST 24 September

    Kent v Derbyshire 330-2

A fourth century of the season for Wayne Madsen - it's the 43rd of his career with 42 of them coming for Derbyshire.

This latest one came off 142 balls, including a couple of sixes and eight fours, in a terrific knock.

He's the third highest run scorer this season in Division Two with 1,059 - behind Saif Zaib and Ben Compton.

  19. Leicestershire pass 350 at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:55 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 358-7

Stephen Eskinazi gets a single through point off the back foot, facing Justin Broad - and that run brings up the innings 350 in the 90th over.

Logan van Beek celebrates with successive fours off the same bowler.

One is a cross-batted swat down the ground.

The other is a powerful, lofted drive to long on.

They're scoring runs for fun now.

  20. Postpublished at 16:53 BST 24 September

    Worcs 123 v Sussex 194-4

James Coles pulls Ben Allison in muscular fashion to the wide mid wicket rope and it has fallen about six inches short of a maximum.

But in the next over he goes close to losing his wicket on 84 with an edge off Tom Taylor which flies just short of first slip.

That was close but both he and John Simpson are not hanging around so the chances will keep coming.
