    Notts v Warwicks 150-5

    Richard Wilford

It will be interesting to see how this surface plays over the next couple of days with the weather meant to be a bit brighter.

No-one has looked comfortable with the bat.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:49 BST 24 September

    Rew c sub (Fernandes) b Bracewell 74 (Essex v Somerset 274-5)

It's a frustratingly soft dismissal from a Somerset perspective.

Angled across James Rew, who could have left it, but he wafts a catch to substitute keeper Simon Fernandes.

A first wicket of the innings for Doug Bracewell, who will now bowl to Kasey Aldridge.

  3. new ball

New ball taken at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:48 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 274-4

Not a great start for Jamie Porter, who serves up a half volley outside off stump which James Rew crunches through point for four.

He gets a single off the last ball to keep the strike.

  4. Postpublished at 16:45 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 146-5

Ed Barnard is half forward to Mo Abbas, pushing the ball to cover but opts against taking a run.

Abbas has six maiden overs plus the wicket of Rob Yates earlier today.

Dillon Pennington stops a straight drive from Dan Mousley off his own bowling but he can't do anything about the next ball, stroked through cover for two.

Two more driven through cover off the back foot.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Simpsonpublished at 16:40 BST 24 September

    Worcs 123 v Sussex 179-4

    Sussex are trapping here.

James Coles is rattling along here taking 10 off Tom Taylor's over to move to 72 (from 71 balls) to go with the 10 he took from Matthew Waite a few overs back.

And now John Simpson has joined him with a half century with a lovely swivel and back foot pull off Ben Allison.

  6. Postpublished at 16:39 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 268-4

James Rew reverse sweeps Matt Critchley square for four and gets a single next ball to move to 68.

Four Lewis Goldsworthy sweeping the fifth ball.

Nine runs off that over and there are 17 left if conditions allow tonight.

  7. Postpublished at 16:36 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 142-5

Ed Barnard dabs a straight ball from Dillon Pennington to point for a single.

Dan Mousley leaves a wide ball outside off stump.

30 overs left tonight. If the light holds. It is fine currently.

  8. GLAMORGAN ALL OUT FOR 265published at 16:34 BST 24 September

    Glamorgan 265 v Lancashire 0-0

Lancashire's Tom Bailey has had an excellent day with the ball and dismisses last man Ned Leonard to finish with figures on 5-51 from 19.2 overs.

Glamorgan are all out for 265 with Timm van der Gugten top scoring with 53.

  9. Somerset pass 250 at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:33 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 251-4

Somerset reach 250 in the 77th over with a crunching James Rew drive through point off Matt Critchley.

The Essex bowling has loosened somewhat after good control for much of the first two sessions of play.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:31 BST 24 September

    Trevaskis c Broad b Whitehouse 37 (Northants v Leics 328-7)

Ben Whitehouse is in the attack for Northants and Liam Trevaskis drives without clearing the field.

He drives at a wider third ball and edges it to Justin Broad at slip.

A welcome strike for Northants, ending a more than handy partnership of 76 with Stephen Eskinazi.

Logan Van Beek joins Eskinazi in the middle.

  11. Postpublished at 16:26 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 139-5

Single to Ed Barnard. Dan Mousley is down the track to Mo Abbas to try and hit to mid on but squirts the ball away to mid off.

Mousley misses out on puling a short ball and also drives at a wider ball without timing it.

Dillon Pennington will bowl at the other end.

  12. Final session of Day One starts at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:23 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 138-5

Ed Barnard faces Muhammad Abbas on eight not out.

it is a bit gloomy here and this may be a slightly truncated session.

Dan Mousley has a single at the other end.

  13. 50 runs

for James Rewpublished at 16:21 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 244-4

Matt Critchley bowls to James Rew, who drives but hasn't timed it.

The next ball is tossed up and pushed away for one to bring up the half century.

    89 balls with five fours.

His eighth score of 50 or more this summer. He also has three centuries this season.

  14. Postpublished at 16:19 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 243-4

A bit of width from Noah Thain and Lewis Goldsworthy lets it go outside his off stump.

The last ball is short, wide and hammered through the off side for four.

James Rew faces next, unbeaten on 49.

Width from Stuart van der Merwe, nudged away to deep third for the precious single.

He's done it! 168 balls with a dozen fours plus a six.

His first century this season - and indeed his first at this level for Leicestershire.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:16 BST 24 September

    Clark lbw b Thompson 27 (Yorks v Durham 203-6)

Graham Clark is clearly thinking that was missing leg as it was angled across as it hits his pad but replays show that was probably hitting some part of leg stump.

Whatever, it is a second bowling point for Yorks which puts another slim layer between them and Durham (or until the visitors reach 250 that is).

  18. Leicestershire pass 300 at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:15 BST 24 September

    Northants v Leics 301-6

The Division Two champions advance to 300 in the 80th over with a clip to long leg by Stephen Eskinazi off the bowling of Stuart van der Merwe.

A single from Liam Trevaskis brings Eskinazi back on strike, 99 not out.

  19. Glamorgan lose ninth wicketpublished at 16:12 BST 24 September

    Glamorgan 260-9 v Lancashire

Mason Crane looked to be making his way towards 50 but he has fallen eight runs short after being bowled by Tom Bailey who now has four for the match.

One more wicket for Lancashire and their openers will be getting ready to put their pads on.

  20. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:03 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 138-5

One more wicket brings a second bowling point for Notts, who would only need three more points at that stage to wrap up the Championship trophy.

A third bowling point plus 300 runs in 110 overs in their first innings would be enough.

Dillon Pennington is driven firmly down the ground by Ed Barnard for four, though the bowler did get a hand to it.

He opts for a late leave off the second ball.

The fifth ball is clipped leg side for one and a wider sixth ball is left alone to see out the session.

Another very good passage of play for Notts, who broke through some firm top order resistance and subsequently removed Sam Hain and Zen Malik in quick succession.
