    Gurbaz c Soumya b Rishad 43 (Afg 88-3)

    Now Gurbaz goes!

Tossed up from Rishad and the Afghanistan opener holes out to deep cover.

He departs for 43 off 55 balls, aside from his duck against the West Indies it's the only time his strike rate has been under 100 in this tournament.

He has, however, moved ahead of Australia's Travis Head to lead the World Cup's top run scorers - he now has 281 to Head's 255.

Afghanistan meanwhile have a couple of new batters at the crease in Gulbadin Naib and Mohammad Nabi - the former closed the 16th over with four down the ground.

Bat away from the body playing that expansive shot and the noise can't really be anything else.

Now the pressure goes to Rahamanullah Gurbaz. He'll think he has to bat through and the others bat around him.

There was definitely a sound there.

  4. wicket

    Azmatullah c Das b Mustafizur 10 (Afg 84-2)

    Is this gone? It is!

Azmatullah attempts to cut Mustafizur's delivery, and the Bangladesh fielders go up. Nothing from the umpire, but the review goes in immediately and there's a spike on snicko - looks like it clipped the toe of the bat.

The Afghanistan batter has to go.

    There's a lot going on.

There's frustration from everyone and at the end of it... it's a single.

    It's carnage!

  7. Afg 84-1published at 15.4 overs

    Farcical!

One of the Afghanistan batters really should be walking off there - they both end up at the wicketkeeper's end after Gurbaz decides not run off a cut to backward point. For some reason Rishad then throws down - and misses - the end with both batters, before the pair simultaneously set off for the bowler's end.

Eventually Azmatullah stops and returns to his crease, so Afghanistan emerge with a single.

I still think this is a solid enough position for Afghanistan. It's wickets in hand that give you the freedom at the back end.

But if you lose wickets you are expecting players to come in and go from ball one, which is perhaps not realistic on this pitch.

Hint of a chance for Shakib as Azmatullah chips past his flailing hand. I've seen sharper grabs taken.

The Afghanistan batters hustle through a few runs, but no boundaries from the over as Shakib closes with two dots.

Three quarters of the innings done and Afghanistan still haven't reached the hundred mark.

Meanwhile Shakib finishes with figures of 0-19.

We talked about Bangladesh failing to turn the screw.

Afghanistan have found their rhythm again with a few loose deliveries in that over.

Swept away, four more for Gurbaz! Is this his long-awaited acceleration?

13 off the over, Afghanistan's best of the innings.

It's a boundary after what feels like an age for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan's frustrations are starting to show with that shot.

  14. Afg 69-1published at 13.3 overs

    Eeesh, that's close!

Azmatullah slices a skier into the covers but the fielder is set very deep - they make a decent effort running in but dive just short of the descending ball.

The Afghanistan batters run a couple and two balls later Gurbaz finally gets another boundary, lashing Rishad over point.

It looks like Bangladesh are going to restrict Afghanistan to a total they think is gettable.

  17. Afg 62-1published at 13 overs

Bangladesh continue to turn the screw as Shakib returns to hold Afghanistan to three singles.

Still just three boundaries off the bat in this innings.

It doesn't feel like we're watching a T20 match, it is more like a one-day match.

Taskin Ahmed is making a mockery of Bangladesh's selection decisions so far in this tournament.

    He's been outstanding.

  20. Afg 59-1published at 12 overs

    Maiden over from Taskin Ahmed!

Gurbaz just can't get him away - although he has a case for one high bouncer being called a wide.

The Afghanistan opener is on 28 from 41, not his usual self.
