It is interesting to see what Bangladesh's mindset is here.

I think they're just looking to restrict Afghanistan and worry about the chase later.

It's probably the right thing to do but they could just be doing Australia a massive favour.

I know that was a decent partnership for Afghanistan but is 18 off 29 balls ever a good innings in T20 cricket?

    And another one?

Litton Das has whipped the bails off from Rishad's final delivery - has new batter Azmatullah dragged his foot back behind the line?

After multiple replays it's decided that he has.

Bangladesh have got one of the key men just as Afghanistan were trying to free their wrists.

You can see the relief from the Bangladesh fielders, they know their bowling had been tight but they needed that wicket.

That's not a great use of the bat either!

Zadran slices Rishad into the air and Tanzim runs to his left from long-off to take Bangladesh's first wicket.

How does that change the complexion of the innings? Afghanistan haven't exactly fired - they've hit just two fours and a six off the bat - but there was the looming possibility of this partnership teeing off.

Now one of them has fallen.

His bat has gone flying miles, he's nearly thrown his bat into the sea. That's outstanding.

It's the ball you need to send to the boundary, Ibrahim!

The Afghanistan opener tries to launch Rishad over mid-wicket but sees his bat fly out his hand instead, landing near the square leg umpire.

Bangladesh need to have a conversation about how they're going to take this first wicket.

A platform has been set but there has not been many potent wicket-taking deliveries.

These two are not doing anything spectacular, they are just doing what they've done the entire tournament and setting a platform.

On a pitch like this, if you get something like 140 then that is likely to be a pretty good score.

  10. Afg 58-0published at 10 overs

Four singles off Mustafizur's second over brings us to the halfway stage.

Not the most remarkable score for this point in the match, but it's a tasty pitch and these two openers still have the potential to go very big having set their platform.

It's very rare for Bangladesh to play a leg-spinner. With so many slow left-armers, culturally leggies just don't get into the team in domestic cricket.

Rishad has forced his way in through being quite good with the bat as well. He's been a good investment.

Of T20 international opening partnerships to have scored more than 600 runs together, Ramanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran's average of almost 62 is only marginally bettered by England's Jos Buttler and Phil Salt (62.69).

  13. Afg 54-0published at 9 overs

Bangladesh introduce 21-year-old leggie Rishad Hossain into the attack.

Gurbaz works his first couple of balls for a two and single into mid-wicket, bringing up the fifty partnership. That's the fourth of the tournament for this pair - they've passed a hundred together twice too, can they do so again today?

Afghanistan have been solid here. Very similar to their opening partnership against Australia where they went at a similar rate at the same ground.

It's an example from Tanzim of the aggression coming in place of accuracy. Just a lack of experience.

  16. Afg 47-0published at 8 overs

Change of ends for Tanzim as he returns to the fray, and for the second time in this innings he sees a sharp bouncer fly away for a boundary behind the keeper.

This time it's called a wide on height, so the runs go against his name.

That's a clean strike by Gurbaz, he's so strong down the ground.

And that's what Rahmanullah Gurbaz can do!

A little shuffle down the ground to greet a floaty final delivery from Shakib and the Afghanistan opener dispatches the ball down the ground for the first six of the innings.

These two are very familiar foes so I wonder how much that is playing into the mindset of both teams.

So far, Bangladesh seem to have got everything right and are trying to frustrate Afghanistan.

  20. Afg 27-0published at 6 overs

Gurbaz can't pick up any more boundaries as Mustafizur closes the powerplay with three dot balls.

This is Afghanistan's lowest-scoring opening six overs of the tournament - Bangladesh will be happy with that, but perhaps fearful that these two batters are getting set.
