  1. Can 74-4published at 12 overs

A fourth over without a boundary now for Canada, as the two batters can't get Campher away.

The ball hasn't really misbehaved, we've not had the same quality of speed bowling. They've shaved off the grass and rolled it really hard.

Nicholas Kirton has been really busy and he's completely transformed his game. His innings is going to be crucial.

  4. Can 69-4published at 11 overs

Kirton and Movva move Gareth Delany sensibly around the ground for six runs - perhaps a case of consolidating for a few overs until Ireland's profligate seamers return.

Rory and Brian are from Cork and here supporting Ireland. Rory, who now lives in Brooklyn, has brought his American girlfriend Isabelle along for her first taste of cricket.

"It doesn't really feel like there's a World Cup going on here really. It hasn't been particularly well promoted among the Irish community here," says Rory, who played cricket for Ireland at youth level.

"I think the ticket prices have been way too steep for games like this, especially if you are trying to promote cricket here and make it an inclusive sport."

Brian adds: "The games have been too spaced out. Even the families of the Irish players I know are going home after the New York leg because they can't afford the time off or justify the cost."

I don't know what Ireland could potentially chase on this surface. Paul Stirling will be desperate to keep this under 130/140 if he can.

  7. Can 63-4published at 10 overs

Movva has a rather chaotic energy, and he almost falls early, setting off for a quick single and almost getting run out by Harry Tector at backward point. He just about made it back after changing his mind.

The Canada batters work a couple of twos off Curtis Campher to make 63-4 at halfway - the players will take drinks.

It's remarkable how poor Ireland have been for the first half of their overs and how good their position is now.

Taking some shade at the back of the stands with me is Jonathan from New Jersey who is attending his first ever cricket match.

"I work in the World Trade Centre with some guys from India and Bangladesh who are keen on cricket so I thought I would come check it out," he tells me.

"The timing for the games hasn't been great for a lot of New Yorkers. 10:30 start on a week day isn't going to pull in the crowds."

  10. Can 57-4published at 9 overs

In comes Shreyas Movva, who get a single from his second ball with a push to long-on.

Curious match this - Little and McCarthy have sent down four overs for forty, but Canada are 17-4 from the other five.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.1 overs

    Bajwa c & b Delany 7 (Ire 53-4)

First sight of spin for Ireland, and they have their reward from the first ball!

It's not a great ball from Gareth Delany, but Dilpreet Singh Bajwa can only pop the back at him and the spinner takes a smart one-handed catch to his right.

  13. Can 53-3published at 8 overs

Like Josh Little before him, Barry McCarthy is struggling a tad.

Dilpreet Singh Bajwa lifts him for a classical four down the ground, before Nicholas Kirton powerfully pulls him for another boundary, the ball just avoiding the diving Curtis Campher.

Both Little and McCarthy have figures of 0-20 from two overs.

  14. Can 42-3published at 7 overs

New batter Nicholas Kirton chooses not to play at the final ball of the over.

Young has two wickets for three runs so far.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.5 overs

    Pargat c Little b Young 18 (Can 42-3)

A second wicket for Craig Young!

Pargat departs, taking a big swing as he tries to lift the Irish seamer over the covers. The ball takes a thick outside edge and absolutely flies to the third boundary, where Josh Little takes a decent catch on the run.

Clambered up more flights of stairs than I care to remember and right to the back of one of the temporary stands to see the start of this game from a different vantage. It's also one of the few spots where you can get some cover from the sunshine. Thankfully, there's a pleasant breeze blowing up here, too.

  17. Can 37-2published at 6 overs

Ireland bring on Barry McCarthy for the final over of the powerplay and he sends down a couple of looseners to get going.

Pargat Singh takes advantage, guiding the ball to the point and fine leg boundaries.

The next four balls are tighter, just a single from them, and now the fielders go back.

What a wicket for Ireland, they needed one. Craig Young into the attack for the first time in this World Cup so far. This one was just slightly shorter and well bowled.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5 overs

    Johnson c Campher b Young 14 (Can 28-2)

    Trap set... and caught!

Craig Young, in the side after missing out on Wednesday, sends down four dot balls to Aaron Johnson before sending down a tempting shorter delivery.

The Canada opener gleefully tucks in, only to watch in horror as the ball drops down the throat of a waiting Curtis Campher on the backward square boundary.

Johnson leans over his bat for a few moments before slowly trudging off the field.

    In comes Dilpreet Singh Bajwa.

I am currently on a whistle stop tour for this World Cup. After being in Barbados watching the Namibia vs Oman match I flew to Dallas where I went with a friend to see the USA vs Pakistan match. Has anybody else seen both? I am currently waiting to fly to New York and my cricket team back home (Earlestown CC) are convinced I will be some kind of magician if South Africa vs Netherlands match goes to a super over tomorrow.
