I can't believe that's not gone for four. At every other ground in the world that would have gone for four.

  2. Can 27-1published at 4 overs

    Consecutive fours for Aaron Johnson!

The first one is rather lucky, he almost chops Josh Little's delivery onto his stumps but instead sees the ball run away to the ropes. The second is better, a lift over the covers.

Pargat Singh should get in on the action later in the over, but his shot over point runs to a halt just short of the boundary. On most grounds in the world that would have raced away, but Pargat has to settle for three.

Little struggled against India two days ago, going for 0-42 from his four overs, and he doesn't look especially comfortable today, walking off shaking his head.

That's the length you want to be bowling on this surface from Mark Adair it just nips away. Lovely delivery.

Pargat Singh is the new batter for Canada, and he gets off strike pulling square.

Adair then draws a play and a miss from Aaron Johnson - lovely bowling.

    Dhaliwal c Dockrell b Adair 6 (Can 12-1)

    Dhaliwal doesn't survive for long!

Back of a length again from Adair, and he hurries the Canada opener a little as he attempts to lift the ball over backward point - he can only watch as the ball flies to George Dockrell, who takes the catch above his head.

I honestly don't understand why they didn't review that. It can't have been anything else.

Dhaliwal rubs salt in the wound, finding a four past a despairing short fine fielder inside the ring.

  8. Can 6-0published at 1.2 overs

Josh Little should have a wicket from his second ball... if only Ireland had reviewed!

His delivery rears up on Navneet Dhaliwal and seems to deviate a little passing the gloves.

There's a bit of half-hearted discussion before Little returns to his mark.

Snicko shows a review would have been profitable - a let off for Canada.

A decent start, less movement than we have seen previously on the pitch. It's a bit cooler out there today.

  10. Can 6-0published at 1 over

Adair's second ball is back of a length but drifting down the leg side - Aaron Johnson tucks in, dispatching the ball to the empty fine leg boundary.

Navneet Dhaliwal comes on strike, Adair sends down another ball that drifts down, brushing the pads and collected well by Lorcan Tucker behind the stumps.

Final piece of interesting cricketana from the United States Cricket Museum, on the outskirts of Philadelphia yesterday.

A giant gold-painted statue of WG Grace, who was part of touring side which went to North America in 1872.

The good doctor played games in New York, Philadelphia and Boston on the US leg of the tour. In Canada, he played in games in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and London.

The sign for the museum in Philadelphia I rereferred to is quite brilliant. A cricket bat above the Liberty Bell. Superb.

Took a bit of an anorak-ish excursion to the United States Cricket Museum at Haverford College on the outskirts of Philadelphia yesterday.

In the substantial library, named after C.C. Morris who was a philanthropic figure in US cricket, was a rare book about Irish cricket.

The book - valued at £5,000 and under lock and key - documents the tour made by a team made up or Ireland's cricketers way back in 1879.

It underlines just how much history of cricket there is here in the US

While we wait for the teams to emerge for the anthems, let's take a minute to revisit yesterday's remarkable USA v Pakistan game.

We've got highlights below, while you can read all the match reaction here.

Will the result have inspired a few more New Yorkers to have picked up tickets for today's game?

Realistically, both teams have to win. This is the same pitch Ireland played on a couple of days ago.

Damian Hough rolls the pitch in New YorkImage source, BBC Sport

We had some heavy rain last night in New York and there were plenty of puddles walking through Eisenhower Park towards the ground this morning. The sun has come out now, though, and it should not affect things too much.

Aussie curator Damian Hough was giving pitch we are using today - pitch four, the same one used for India v Ireland - a roll a little earlier to possibly iron out some of the inconsistent bounce we've had.

There's obviously been a lot of scrutiny on the surfaces but Hough and his team have done the best they can given the timeframe they've had to work with.

Hopefully it plays well enough to give us an entertaining game of cricket today.

Canada captain Saad Bin Zafar: "I would have bowled first. There’s a bit of moisture so we might see some movement. If the moisture says, it might not be easy to chase.

"It’s also good to see an associate beating a full member. Hopefully we can do the same to Ireland today.

"In T20, if you bring our A game and play good cricket on the day, you can beat anyone."
