  1. Close of play at Grace Roadpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 8 September

    Leicestershire v Gloucestershire 382-7

A good day for Gloucestershire is spoiled as Graeme van Buuren is lbw to Chris Wright for 101 from the final ball of the day.

Leicestershire need 21 points for promotion and have two of them, but the banning of Josh Hull for the rest of the innings for two above waist height full tosses - after he had taken 3-79 left them a bowler short.

There was a further worry for the Foxes just before the close when Ben Mike had to go off mid-over, leaving Logan van Beek to finish it.

Ben Charlesworth made 78 and there were also half centuries for Miles Hammond and James Bracey before van Buuren showed them the way to three figures only to fall with stumps in sight.

  2. Postpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 103-4

The colour has rather ebbed out of Tom Lawes' purple patch.

A couple of loose deliveries are walloped to the rope by Ed Barnard who moves into the 30s and takes Warwickshire into three figures in the process.

Two balls have cost Lawes more runs than his first five overs in total.

  3. Postpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 41-3 v Hants 226

Keith Barker bowls a teasing line just outside off stump and Sean Hunt plays and misses attempting to block from the crease.

    Maiden over.

South African all rounder Bjorn Fortuin is coming on to bowl some left arm spin.

    Three overs left tonight.

Fortuin's third ball is wide of off stump and drilled through cover by Dan Hughes for four.

  4. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 95-4

Gorgeous shot from Will Young, sending the ball, and two chasing fielders, skidding across the evergreen outfield at The Oval, finding the rope at long-on just before the fielders got there.

Young has 22* with Ed Barnard on 24*.

Tom Lawes is coming back on, however, after taking 3-6 in his first five over spell.

    Six overs to come tonight.

  5. 'A great knock from Graeme van Buuren'published at 17:59 British Summer Time 8 September

    Leics v Glos 378-6

It's been a great knock from Graeme van Buuren. It's been one of those displays that show how hard it is, even as an experienced player, to score a first-class 100.

They've made him work for it, the Leicestershire bowlers have probably had their best spells of the day so far to him but he has got there.

  6. Postpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 1-1

Freddie McCann gets Notts off the mark but not convincingly as he aborts a cut shot and the ball dribbles away off a bottom edge off the bowling of Tom Taylor.

Ben Slater calls him through for a tight single.

Slater is beaten four times in a row outside off stump to end another tense over.

  7. wicket

WICKET Coles b Fuller 4published at 17:55 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 36-3 v Hants 226

Disaster for Sussex as James Coles makes a horrid mess of an off drive and guides the ball into his stumps.

James Fuller strikes in his sixth over and Sean Hunt is in next.

  8. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 89-4

Dan Worrall is plugging away, producing a fine delivery back of a length which Ed Barnard (23*) somehow managed to whip his gloves away from on its way through to Ben Foakes.

The partnership with Will Young (17*) is up to 42 from nearly 15 overs, just what the Bears needed after that early onslaught from Tom Lawes.

  9. 'A lovely delivery from Taylor'published at 17:54 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 0-1

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It was a lovely delivery from Tom Taylor. Pieced it up there nice and full on a ground where Haseeb Hameed has had plenty of success over the years. He gets a rare duck.

Lovely bit of bowling and the perfect start for Worcestershire.

  10. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 0-1

Khurram Shahzad is bowling round the wicket from the New Road End to Ben Slater, who leaves the ball outside off stump.

    Maiden over.

  11. 100 runs

for Graeme van Buurenpublished at 93.3 overs

    Leics v Glos 376-6

Chris Wright is slightly off line and Graeme van Buuren pulls the ball away fine for four to reach his second hundred of the summer - and 17th of his career - from 136 balls.

An excellent innings for his side, who are showing that they will not just be a door mat for Leicestershire's march towards promotion.

  12. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 34-2 v Hants 226

Keith Barker is into his fifth over and there's enough width for Dan Hughes to comfortably leave outside off stump.

The sixth ball is driven and picked up at mid off.

    Five overs left tonight.

  13. Stumps at Chelmsfordpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 316-8

A day of ebbs and flows.

Durham won the toss and set off at a canter with skipper Alex Lees and Ben McKinnon putting on 134 for the second wicket, a Durham record against Essex, to take them to 189-1.

Lees fell to Simon Harmer six runs shy of a century but 20-year-old McKinnon motored on, bringing up his fourth first class ton with a towering six off Harmer, but a collapse of 5-51 this afternoon brought Essex back into the contest, with McKinnon eventually falling for 121 to a fine delivery from Jamie Porter.

Sam Conners and Graham Clark stood firm in the lengthening shadows, securing the second batting point and offering hope of a third, which seemed unlikely at 291-8.

Essex's 12-point advantage over Durham at the foot of the table remains intact, but how will that change in the next 24 hours?

    We'll find out tomorrow.

  14. wicket

WICKET Hameed b Taylor 0published at 17:48 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 0-1

    Bowled second ball!

Tom Taylor bowls a full length with a touch of seam movement into the stumps.

Haseeb Hameed leaves the field and the left-hander Freddie McCann is in at three for Notts.

He immediately plays and misses as Taylor bowls round the wicket.

  15. Notts begin their first innings at Worcesterpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 0-0

Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed is in the middle with Ben Slater.

16 overs left tonight. In theory at least.

Tom Taylor will bowl to Hameed from the Diglis End.

  16. Maiden five-wicket haul for Mitch Stanleypublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 8 September

    Kent 293 v Lancashire

In just his second first class match Mitch Stanley finishes with figures of 5-80 as Lancashire haul themselves back into the driving seat at Canterbury in Division Two.

Kent were 217-2 at one stage but eventually succumbed for 293, seven shy of a second batting bonus point

Ben Dawkins (60) and Ben Compton (77) gave them a solid foundation but Tawanda Muyeye (48) was the only other to score 25 or more.

Kent have eight overs to bowl at the visitors before stumps.

  17. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 8 September

    Northants v Glamorgan 367-6

Asa Tribe walks off having played the innings of his life.

He resumes tomorrow on 181 not out with Timm van der Gugten unbeaten on 18.

From a high point of 164-5, Northants faded, striking only once more - with a second new ball.

Glamorgan firmly in control as they continue their promotion push.

  18. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 90.3 overs

    Leics v Glos 363-6

Graeme van Buuren goes for a big drive from a ball by Ben Mike but gets a thick edge - Rishi Patel dives full length at first slip but can't cling onto the chance with his right hand.

Can't blame the fielder there, if he had taken it, it would have been an absolute blinder. Van Buuren is 93 not out.

  19. 'A great ball from Barker'published at 17:41 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 32-2 v Hants 226

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

There's the second wicket and that is Keith Barker's first wicket for a very, very long time.

It's nipped back. It didn't bounce quite as much which means it actually hit the top of the woodwork rather than going over the top but that's a great ball.

  20. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 315-8

Odd one. Shane Snater has collapsed in his run-up and lay flat on his back with his hand covering his face.

He didn't deliver the ball, so his 20th over is aborted after two balls, with Matt Critchley taking the final four balls.

The good news is Snater got up under his own steam and has trudged off with three overs and change to go to be inspected by his physios, presumably.
