    Notts v Somerset 260-3

You wonder how Notts are going to take a wicket.

Well a slight brain fade/mix up might be their most likely way.

Last ball of the over Tom Abell decides to take a cheeky one to mid on, in fairness he did just make it, but that is not ideal for a man who no longer bowls due to his dodgy hamstring, probably not worth the risk when he is timing it so well taking singles all around the ground with ease anyway.

James Rew was surprised, stutters, but just makes it before the second shy at Joe Clarke's end.

225 these two have added and they now have the highest fourth wicket partnership against Notts for the fifth wicket.

April 2019 saw George Bartlett join Tom Abell for that previous highest fifth wicket partnership.

Abell gets Somerset past 250 for a first bonus point too.

James Rew converts 55% of his 50s to hundreds, the best conversion rate by an Englishman since 1990.

67% sees Che Pujara and Brian Lara with the top two conversion rates in worldwide first-class cricket (minimum 10 centuries).

Kumar Sangakkara and David Bedingham are also high on this list.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 29 July

    Crocombe c Bean b Hill 0 (Yorks v Sussex 150-9)

This is officially now a collapse.

From 92-2 Sussex have lost 58-7 and it's 1-3 since tea as Finlay Bean takes a fine catch low to his left at third slip.

Just an airy waft too early in his innings from Henry Crocombe as he edges it into the Yorkshire cordon which is proving voracious this afternoon.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 29 July

    Carson c Lyth b Sutherland 0 (Yorks v Sussex 149-8)

Two in three balls for Will Sutherland as Yorkshire grab this match by the scruff.

This is angled in towards the right hander from wide on the crease and he edges a simple chance to Adam Lyth at second slip.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 29 July

    Hudson-Prentice c Hill b Sutherland 23 (Yorks v Sussex 149-7)

Early breakthrough after tea for Yorkshire and Fynn Hudson-Prentice is furious with himself for giving his wicket away.

The Sussex all-rounder's eyes light up at the sight of a short wide one and his slash flies high to George Hill's right high at first slip.

  6. Evening session at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 229-3

Calvin Harrison opens up for the evening session.

Somerset just 21 runs away from a rare batting bonus point now.

  7. Back under way at Scarboroughpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yorks v Sussex 149-6

George Hill fires down the first over after tea and it is a maiden.

  8. 'Exactly what Durham were looking for'published at 16:06 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 153 v Surrey 9-1

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's angled in but it's whether it's going down leg side.

It's exactly what Durham were looking for, an early wicket.

  9. Tea at New Roadpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 29 July

    Worcs v Hants 127-0

A poor session for the hosts who after winning the toss and inserting Hampshire have simply never applied any real pressure on the openers.

Joe Weatherley (53) played and missed a few times early on but he has looked in control since the shine came off the new ball. Fletcha Middleton (69) has looked in control throughout.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 29 July

    Burns lbw b Potts 2 (Durham 153 v Surrey 9-1)

An early breakthrough from Matthew Potts for the home side.

Rory Burns gets stuck in a peculiar position, it perhaps stays a little low and he is lbw for two off 13 balls.

  11. 'Terrific session for Yorkshire'published at 15:59 British Summer Time 29 July

Yorkshire v Sussex 149-6 - tea, day one

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A terrific session for Yorkshire taking 3 for 57 in 35 overs.

The Sussex batters have been completely tied down by tight accurate bowling supported by excellent ground fielding, with the run-rate throughout the session less than two an over.

Jack White has been the pick of the Yorkshire attack taking 3-20 in his 13 overs.

  12. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 29 July

    Essex 210-2 v Warwickshire

Warwickshire will go into the break with more of a spring in their step than they might have done having finally chiselled out Paul Walter.

But Essex have set the platform for a significant total here with Walter (86) sharing a 132 partnership with his captain Tom Westley.

The Essex captain walks off unbeaten on 70 with Jordan Cox (4) and truth be told the visitors are probably value for no more than the two wickets they have.

  13. Surrey begin first inningspublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 153 v Surrey 0-0

Ben Raine opens proceedings with a maiden over to Rory Burns, Dom Sibley to face up to Matt Potts at t'other end.

  14. Tea at Scarboroughpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yorks v Sussex 149-6

Dom Bess finishes with a tidy maiden and the players turn to the dressing rooms for 20 minutes of downtime and a cuppa.

Yorkshire bettered their morning performance with a tighter display taking three wickets again but for just 57 runs.

They are in the driving seat certainly.

  15. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 227-3

A very good session for Somerset, no wickets lost as these two managed 202 runs together.

James Rew and Tom Abell will enjoy their sarnies and scones with an extra smirk on their face today.

  16. 'A fabulous performance'published at 15:51 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 227-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

His first century of the season, a lowkey celebration as it brings up the double-century partnership.

    It's been a fabulous performance.

  17. 100 runs

for Abellpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 226-3

Tom Abell celebrates centuryImage source, Rex Features

A first century of a struggling season for Tom Abell, but boy has he deserved this one.

Looked fluent until he got to 99 then struggled through a few dots from the Notts spin pair, but got there with a trademark flick off his legs from the leggie Calvin Harrison.

194 minutes he has spent at the crease, striking 15 fours.

The partnership with James Rew now 201 off 305 deliveries too.

I repeat Somerset were 0-2 this morning!

  18. Postpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 29 July

    Somerset 222-3 v Notts

Freddie McCann gets through a maiden to Tom Abell on 99*..

  19. Durham need to find fighting spiritpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 29 July

Durham 153 v Surrey - tea, day one

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

If the Durham players did not think they were in a relegation scrap going into this game, they certainly need to think they are now.

They were bowled out on a really poor track, at Taunton last week, for just 145. Surrey bowled them out today for 153 and they can't blame the pitch for this one.

The self belief appears to have drained away.

Surrey bowled well and kept it tight. Dan Worrall took 4-31 and Sam Curran 3-22, but shot selection left many questions.

The task facing them now is immense. They struggle to bowl teams out as a rule anyway, but find it a lot more difficult with a Kookaburra ball. This could be a really significant week in terms of where these two sides are going to end up come late September.

  20. Division Two latestpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 29 July

Kane Williamson and Josh de CairesImage source, Getty Images

Kane Williamson is looking in ominous form for Middlesex against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham College.

The New Zealander has 64 off 78 balls and his side are 162-3 - although Josh de Caires has gone after passing fifty.

Martin Andersson is leading an excellent Derbyshire fightback at Northants. The all-rounder has raced to 80 and the visitors have recovered from 89-5 to 234-6.

James Anderson has gone through 12 wicketless overs for Lancashire against Glamorgan who are now 192-3 at Old Trafford. Kiran Carlson is 50 not out.

Leaders Leicestershire are on course for another big score. They're 251-4 at Kent, with Rehan Ahmed 107 not out.
