Corey Rocchiccioli celebrates the wicket of Paul Walter

That was a freak dismissal and he might have hit that down on to his boot before it loops up to slip.

Paul Walter jabbed the ball down defensively and it looked to have gone down to his foot before rebounding in the direction of Alex Davies who does well to dive forward and take the catch.

Corey Rocchiccioli has his man after taking a few bruises from Walter and the partnership of 132 with Tom Westley is broken.

Walter will be frustrated as he was just 14 short of what would have been a fifth first class century. As it is, that is another failure to convert with only four of his 20 half centuries going on to three figures.

  2. 200 runs

200 for Essexpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 29 July

    Essex 200-1 v Warwickshire

Tom Westley is catching Paul Walter up here and he wallops Ed Barnard to the rope to close the gap by another four.

He then moves Essex to 200 with a single off Corey Rocchiccioli.

  3. 'Surrey will be very happy'published at 15:32 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 153 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Potts has played so well there, but that shot just looped up into the air.

Surrey will be very happy with that, on a pitch with no real demons on it.

  4. Durham 153 all out & early teapublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 29 July

    Potts c Foakes b Curran 32 (Durham 153 v Surrey)

Ryan Campbell will be pulling what little hair he has left out once again.

Durham gifting wickets left, right and centre to a quality Surrey outfit who do not need charity donations.

The latest gift is a Matt Potts attempted scoop, when Callum Parkinson at the other end has done so much work on his batting over the winter and is better than many other number 11s, Potts really could have batted normally for longer with Parkinson looking more solid alongside him.

Again this pitch really is not doing that much, Surrey will be delighted that Durham have been so profligate and that they get to bat on it on day one.

  5. 100 runs

100 up for Hampshirepublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 29 July

    Worcs v Hants 102-0

An excellent century partnership between Fletcha Middleton (60) and Joe Weatherley (38) is brought up by the former who punches Adam Finch off the back foot to the point boundary.

Worcs might feel they have not had much luck but these two have made the most of some loose balls to kick on and are in a strong position having been put in.

  6. 'An innings of class and style'published at 15:22 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 203-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Wonderful innings from James Rew, an innings of real class and style, his 11th century of his career.

He looked totally composed since coming into the crease.

  7. 100 runs

for Rewpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 201-3

A drive through extra cover for two, then the very next ball the same shot for the same result gets James Rew from 96 to 100 off Brett Hutton.

His third century of this season and 11th of his career at just 21.

Remember he was the fastest to 10 first-class centuries since Denis Compton and he came in at 0-2 today.

Not much celebration, soon back to take guard for the next ball and continue the job.

  8. 100 runs

for Ahmedpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 29 July

    Kent v Leicestershire 237-3

What an outstanding season Rehan Ahmed is having.

The 20-year-old England all-rounder goes to his fifth County Championship century of the season.

It comes after he took 13 wickets in last week's match against Derbyshire.

He's averaging a shade under 53 with the bat this campaign, and 15 with the ball.

Should he be back in the England side?

  9. Postpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 29 July

    Essex 182-1 v Warwickshire

And Paul Walter has woken up. All it took was the return of Corey Rocchiccioli to rouse him.

Big six over wide long off followed by an arrow straight drive back over the umpire's hat.

Walter is up to 86 and a fifth first class century is within reach.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yusuf b Clark 1 (Durham 147-9 v Surrey)

Codi Yusuf lasts just a brief period of time, four balls.

Off stump is sent flying by a Jordan Clark nip backer.

    Not the ball to leave.

  11. 'He's not moved his feet at all'published at 15:15 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 147-8 v Surrey

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Why play a shot like that?

He's not moved his feet there at all, he's got Durham into a good position and plays a poor shot.

It was a 53-run partnership, it needed to be more.

It's incredible for Durham to find this form with the Kookaburra ball, two games in a row.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 29 July

    Alsop b Revis 40 (Yorks v Sussex 129-5)

Full, nips back a touch and bursts through the defences of Tom Alsop... a big wicket for Yorkshire.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 29 July

    Ackermann c Kishore b S Curran 51 (Durham 146-8 v Surrey)

Another Durham wicket given away, in the past few weeks they have gifted bowlers so many wickets needlessly.

Their position in the table reflects this now.

This a mistimed pull off the splice from the set Colin Ackermann from a nothing legside delivery that really should have been hit out of the ground if not for four.

In at 10 is recent South African Test debutant Codi Yusuf.

  14. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 29 July

    Worcs v Hants 82-0

Adam Finch is a touch unlucky not to have broken through beating the bat of Joe Weatherley twice in two balls in that over.

The first was batter error with a horrible off balance waft from the Hampshire opener but the second was a decent away nipper which so nearly took the edge.

Ben Allison then releases any building pressure with a couple of loose balls bullied to the ropes in the next over.

There are too many four balls (13 in 21 overs) being bowled by the Worcestershire attack.

  15. 50 runs

50 partnership for Potts & Ackermannpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 145-7 v Surrey

A rank long hop from Surrey left-armer Sam Curran is put away well by Colin Ackermann for four, he is now 49*.

And later in the over the Netherlands international reaches 50 off 98 balls.

He faced just three balls last week remember, falling to two decent deliveries from Craig Overton and Jack Leach.

    50 overs gone.

  16. 'Durham batters should be able to take control'published at 15:03 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 144-7 v Surrey

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

This is the last of the Kookaburra matches which is a good thing.

It shouldn't be doing much for the bowlers, the Durham batters should be able to take control of it here.

  17. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 29 July

    Essex 158-1 v Warwickshire

It's 40 balls since Essex last struck a boundary and they have added just six runs so Warwickshire are applying the brakes effectively here.

Paul Walter has been becalmed after looking to be in great nick previously. He might need to open up a little.

  18. 150 runs

150 partnership from Rew & Abellpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 177-3

Mo Abbas is back for another spell to try and add to his 3-20.

The run rate is now at 3.82 as these two look to seal a batting bonus point by the tea interval.

James Rew is 83* and Tom Abell 78*.

  19. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 129-7 v Surrey

Matt Potts (21*) is looking in good nick, looking far more composed with bat in hand than his skittish 21 in the first innings last week.

Maybe his first-class best century, one he'll never forget at Edgbaston boundary, is in danger!?

Long way to go, but he and Colin Ackermann (39*) are looking more settled than any other Durham bat since Alex Lees.

    45 overs bowled.

  20. 'A really good hour for Somerset'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 176-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

This has been a really good hour since lunch for Somerset, they're now at around four an over.

Notts are trying to dry up the runs, but they're struggling to do that at the moment.
