  1. Further delay at New Roadpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 29 July

    Worcs v Hants

The umpires have had a look out in the middle and there will be a further inspection at 13:00 BST.

But there has been no toss yet and there will be no play before lunch at New Road.

  2. 'These two need to be together at lunch'published at 12:43 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 66-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The partnership is now worth 41 and from a Somerset perspective these two need to be together at lunch.

The Kookaburra ball hasn't been doing very much recently, a leg spinner might get a bit more out of it.

  3. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yorks v Sussex 76-2

James Coles nudges a single off Matt Milnes to bring up the half century partnership with Tom Alsop for the third wicket.

Both sides will be fairly pleased with their morning's work but if Yorkshire could break this partnership before lunch they will have shaded the opening session.

  4. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 66-3

A trio of boundaries from James Rew off the returning Brett Hutton. A loose edge through slip, the second a nice back-foot punch through point with a straight bat and the third a flick through midwicket.

14 off that over ruining his previously miserly figures.

  5. Spin in the north eastpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 58-2 v Surrey

Sai Kishore takes the 24th over, the IPL left-arm spinner the first slow bowler to be tried in this match.

Alex Lees 31* and Colin Ackermann 3*.

A slip and a very silly extra cover greet Lees.

  6. Postpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yorks v Sussex 71-2

James Coles is looking in good touch here and has despatched Matt Milnes for two boundaries in the over.

The first is a backfoot punch through mid off and he follows up with a nicely balanced forward push through mid on.

Milnes comes back with a loud appeal after striking the pad with no shot offered but Richard Kettleborough rightly dismisses it with a shake of the head.

Honours about even here at Scarborough.

  7. Postpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 55-2 v Surrey

Surrey have built a lot of pressure at Chester-le-Street, such that Colin Ackermann took 15 balls to get off the mark before bunting to mid off and calling his skipper through.

Still Sam Curran and Tom Lawes in tandem, no spin yet.

  8. 50 for Somersetpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 50-3

Shot of the day so far, from Tom Abell who looks magnifient when in free-flowing form, but Somerset have seen little of that thus far this year.

Just overpitched from Lyndon James' first two deliveries, first down the ground then through midwicket, just releasing a bit of the pressure that Pennington, Abbas and Hutton had created.

  9. 'Not using Test match pitch'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 29 July

    Lancashire v Glamorgan 64-0

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

A very different feel to Old Trafford compared to the weekend, a quieter feel if nothing else now the Test match bandwagon has rolled out of town.

Lancashire have decided against using the Test match pitch, something they have done in previous season, instead we’re playing on a wicket with some grass left on it and under cloudy skies it felt like a brave call to bat first when Sam Northeast called correctly at the toss.

However, his openers have rewarded him with a solid first hour.

A couple of play and misses, and the odd lbw shout about the only moments of concern for Zain ul Hassan and Asa Tribe.

Lancashire have turn to spin inside the first hour, it feels like the perfect bowling conditions but it’s the batters on top so far.

  10. 'Perfect conditions for the bowlers'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 42-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

I think Somerset would have put Notts in to bat if they had the choice to do so.

The conditions are cloudy, perfect for the bowlers.

When you've got a ground like Trent Bridge, captains will look up at the weather, especially with the Kookaburra ball.

  11. Division Two latestpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 29 July

The bowlers continue to find things pretty tough with this Kookaburra ball.

At Old Trafford, Glamorgan have moved along nicely to 62-0 against Lancashire. Zain ul Hassan and Asa Tribe are well set with James Anderson now coming back into the attack.

Leaders Leicestershire are also well placed on 75-1 against Kent. Sol Budinger was bowled by Wes Agar for 27, but Rishi Patel and Rehan Ahmed are both into the 20s.

Derbyshire are on the same score at Northants - 75-1 - Caleb Jewell the batter to go.

There's still no play between Gloucestershire and Middlesex at Cheltenham with a band of mizzle sitting over the middle of England.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 29 July

    Elgar c Malik b Webster 33 (Essex 68-1 v Warwickshire)

A breakthrough for Warwickshire... and much needed too.

Dean Elgar was looking pretty comfortable and can't quite believe he's picked out the fielder at midwicket given how well he hit that.

But Zen Malik has kept his cool and taken a good low catch getting two hands to a rocket and hanging on.

After an excellent start for Essex, a slight shift in momentum.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 29 July

    Gay c Foakes b S Curran 14 (Durham 53-2 v Surrey)

First ball of the 18th over Sam Curran gets a bit of movement away from Emilio Gay, a little tickle and an easy pouch for arguably the best gloveman in the world.

Josh Blake has kept wicket, Rory Burns and even Dan Lawrence with Jamie Smith and Ollie Pope otherwise engaged, but even with five decent options across three formats, it must be reassuring to see Ben Foakes back with his whites and gloves on.

  14. 50 runs

Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 29 July

    Essex 68-0 v Warwickshire

A very solid start for the hosts after being put in by Warwickshire skipper Alex Davies.

The visitors are already on to their fifth bowler with Ed Barnard now into the attack. And he starts with a loose one which goes for three saved just inside the rope on the cover boundary.

Two balls later he is clipped dismissively to the same rope by left hander Paul Walter.

    Runs are leaking badly.

  15. Kent get eight-point deductionpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 29 July
    Breaking

Kent's season is going from bad to worse.

The ECB have just announced they have been given an eight-point penalty after a fourth incident of poor conduct this season.

It comes after Daniel Bell-Drummond showed dissent to the umpire in last week's game against Glamorgan.

Kent will now be 26 points adrift at the bottom of Division Two and say they won't appeal the decision.

  16. 50 runs

Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 52-1 v Surrey

'Campball' is working more successfully back at home this week than it did with Durham players psyched out by the green-looking pitch at Taunton last week. More controlled aggression from Alex Lees today thus far than his head in the air 'can't bat on this' mantra last week.

50 up off just 16 overs, a run rate of over three an over.

Tom Lawes has looked particularly impressive for the Rey, going for just four from 2.3 overs so far.

  17. Delayed start at New Roadpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 29 July

    Worcs v Hants

The umpires are set to inspect in half an hour at 12:30 BST after a drizzly start to proceedings in Worcester.

    No toss yet.

  18. 'Davey was just groping at that ball'published at 11:57 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 26-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Davey was just groping at that ball, he had hardly played the delivery from Abbas.

The Pakistani bowler has been a little too good for the makeshift opening order of Somerset.

There's an applause as Abbas gets his 800th first-class wicket.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 29 July

    Hughes b White 8 (Yorks v Sussex 26-2)

Daniel Hughes is looking to turn that off his legs but it straightens on him and beats the outside edge to clip off stump.

Decent start from Yorkshire but probably no more than they would have hoped for having won the toss and electing to bowl.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 29 July

    Davey c Clarke b Abbas 12 (Notts v Somerset 25-3)

Mohammad Abbas celebrates wicketImage source, Rex Features

800 first-class wickets for Mohammad Abbas!

12 off 37 balls for Josh Davey is all he manages today, all three wickets falling to Abbas.

Stand in wicketkeeper (no Ishan Kishan anymore) Joe Clarke takes it comfortably.

Davey's personal score still better than two if his more recognised batter team-mates mind, but Tom Abell in at five again with a job to do to dig Somerset out of a hole.
