  1. Double change at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 40-1 v Surrey

Sam Curran is taken for five off his first over.

Alex Lees is 25* in this 13-run partnership with Emilio Gay, some way yet to go to match their following on partnership at the Oval from just a few weeks back.

Tom Lawes is the other new bowler, Surrey as always have so many bowling options to call upon in this match.

  2. First change of bowling at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 20-2

Five overs, three maidens, 2-6 for Mo Abbas, he will continue, but Brett Hutton will not take a first morning wicket on his 100th appearance as he comes off to give Dillon Pennington a first trundle.

James Rew's playing himself in whilst Josh Davey's looking his solid self, until the former gets a nice juicy half volley from the former Pakistan international bowler.

Remember Rew scored a double ton at Taunton vs Abbas in Hampshire colours not so long ago in his still young career.

  3. Division Two latestpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 29 July

We're still waiting for the first wicket to fall in Division Two.

Leaders Leicestershire are 34 points clear at the top and that's the score they've moved to this morning at Kent. 34-0 with Sol Budinger and Rishi Patel going well.

At Old Trafford, Glamorgan have settled in on what might be another very flat pitch - they're 26-0 against Lancashire, who once again have James Anderson leading the attack.

Derbyshire are 25-0 at Northants, and there is a delayed start between Gloucestershire and Middlesex at the College Ground in Cheltenham.

  4. 'A little bit of variable bounce'published at 11:38 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 16-2

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

There's a little bit in this pitch from what we have seen so far.

Abbas has got the odd one to go off the seam, a little bit of variable bounce.

    Haines c Wharton b White 15 (Yorks v Sussex 19-1)

James Wharton takes a catchImage source, Rex Features

Take a bow James Wharton because that was one of THE BEST catches you will ever see.

Tom Haines has swiped a big top edge high towards the midwicket boundary and Wharton has set off racing.

Not only has he made about 35 yards but he has then dived full length with the ball coming over his right shoulder and, even then, thrust out his hands as the ball drops, and taken an absolute worldie.

Seriously, seriously good catch and you have to watch that back when you get the chance.

  6. Postpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yorks v Sussex 19-0

And now Jack White is doing the shouting after beating Tom Haines's outside edge... this time it is umpire Peter Hartley refusing the appeal.

The slip cordon were very interested and very vocal but that probably missed everything again.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 29 July

    McKinney c Patel b Worrall 7 (Durham 27-1 v Surrey)

Curse of the text commentator as instantly a first wicket away from Trent Bridge falls half an hour into this round's play.

The exact same combination that thought they had Ben McKinney in the previous Dan Worrall over do get his scalp this time as Ryan Patel takes the catch.

Chipped straight to him, no doubt this time, and Emilio Gay comes in at three.

  8. 'You need to strike in the first 20 overs'published at 11:31 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 10-2

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Both sides know they need to get wickets early on with this Kookaburra ball.

You need to strike in the first 20 overs.

  9. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yorks v Sussex 19-0

Matt Milnes has a big shout for a nick as he whistles one through the defences of Daniel Hughes.

But both batsman and, more importantly, the umpire Richard Kettleborough remain unmoved.

    Replays suggest that missed everything.

  10. Postpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 6-2

Despite the two men that have been dismissed in the entire County Championship so far this morning both being Somerset men who have generally batted above Josh Davey in his Somerset career, he is the one stabilising the ship again.

That is now 61 innings without a duck for the Suffolk-educated Scotsman, the longest run on the current Championship circuit, and from a man who has generally batted nine or 10 since his Middlesex opening days over a decade ago!

  11. Postpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 29 July

    Essex 22-0 v Warwickshire

Dean Elgar and Paul Walter bump fistsImage source, Rex Features

Dean Elgar and Paul Walter will be pleased to have negotiated this opening five and a half overs against Oli Hannon-Dalby and Ethan Bamber on a strip which has a distinct green tinge to it.

OHD has got a couple to leap at the batsmen but Elgar and particularly Walter have looked comfortable enough, the latter cracking a short one from Bamber through the covers for his third boundary.

  12. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 17-0 v Surrey

    Slight controversy at Chester-le-Street.

Surrey paceman Dan Worrall thinks he has Ben McKinney caught by Ryan Patel at short midwicket, there is an awkward standstill, but nothing given.

Rory Burns cannot persuade either umpire to give it, benefit of the doubt goes to the batter.

Not quite carried is the verdict.

  13. 'A disastrous start'published at 11:17 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset 0-2

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Calvin Harrison takes a comfortable catch at second-slip.

A disastrous start for Somerset, Lammonby played a firm shot for an easy catch.

    A great start for Notts.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 29 July

    Lammonby c Harrison b Abbas 0 (Notts v Somerset 0-2)

It has got worse already for Somerset at Trent Bridge...

Still not a run on the board and now that is 797 first-class wickets for Mo Abbas and another slip catch for arguably the young man with the best hands in the country...and Calvin Harrison was schooled in Taunton do not forget!

  15. Under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 29 July

    Essex 5-0 v Warwickshire

Paul Walter battingImage source, Rex Features

Oli Hannon-Dalby and Ethan Bamber have both got an over under their belts and Essex are off the mark.

Paul Walter nudges a boundary into the off side in the second over to kick off proceedings for the hosts.

  16. Play at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 29 July

    Durham 4-0 v Surrey

Hopefully this is not a repeat of the bore draw at The Oval a few weeks ago when Surrey racked up over 800 after Alex Lees opted to watch them bat for two days on a pitch as flat as the M25, with that same Kookaburra ball we are using for one final round now.

Lees tries a different method this time, having won the toss again, this time he will face up first with his old, young partner Ben McKinney back with him at the top.

Dan Worrall and Jordan Clark open the bowling with Jamie Overton having been called up to the test squad.

Curran, Foakes and Lawes return to the XI whilst Surrey also have the dual spin of Cam Steel and Sai Kishore.

  17. Under way at Scarboroughpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 29 July

    Yorks v Sussex 6-0

Jack White has the ball in hand and Sussex have their first boundary of the match with the fourth delivery, Tom Haines flicks that off his legs and the ball races to the rope.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 29 July

    Gregory lbw b Abbas 0 (Notts v Somerset 0-1)

Tom Lammonby has an early long walk to the middle and is effectively opening for Somerset again as Lewis Gregory is plumb to a Mo Abbas special second ball of the match.

Boy oh boy Gregory will be hoping that coin fell on the other side 32 minutes ago even more so now!

  19. Play at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 29 July

    Notts v Somerset

Tom Kohler-Cadmore misses out due to the impending birth of his child, so Lewis Gregory and Josh Davey combine again at the top, while Migael Pretorius returns from a minor injury.

It's a first County Championship appearance of the summer in Notts whites for Calvin Harrison after a very successful loan spell at Northants.
