    John Simpson and Jack Carson put on 112 for the seventh wicket but the latter has now departed after being bowled by Gohar for his third wicket of the day.

    The partnership has helped push Sussex up towards 300 runs and their lead is 183.

    Sussex skipper John Simpson adds another 50 to his excellent season with the bat.

    He's the second-highest run-scorer in Division Two this season, behind Glamorgan's Colin Ingram, and is approaching 1,100 runs for the season, including five centuries.

    Bas de Leede drops a little short and Sam Curran whips it through midwicket for his first boundary.

    The bowler responds by tempting a play and miss from Curran.

    And then he's gone to a pearler!

    De Leede quickens the pace with a sharp inswinging yorker which hits Curran's boot bang in front and almost knocks him off his feet.

    Surrey lose a fifth wicket and are still 93 behind.

    The hosts replace one Curran with another. Tom joins Ryan Patel.

    Mark Stoneman's innings comes to an end at Derby as Jack Morley picks up his second wicket with one that turns back between bat and pad.

    Stoneman batted for just four of four and a half hours, faced 223 balls and hit 19 fours.

    Luke Hollman joins Josh de Caires, who is 15 not out.

    Liam Dawson is now on for Hampshire, seeking to add to his impressive haul of 43 wickets this season.

    Mohammed Abbas is still bowling from the other end, his figures are 4-17 from six overs - and he gives it a big lbw shout there on Worcestershire's Gareth Roderick but the Pears man survives.

    He's on 35 from 47 balls.

    Danny Briggs and Michael Burgess have added 47 since the break to stem the flow of wickets for Essex.

    They still trail by 56 but these are promising signs.

    Lyndon James has bowled well first up after lunch and gets a deserved wicket in his fifth over.

    He tempts Daniel Bell-Drummond to play at a ball which leaves him.

    The skipper tries to remove his bat, but too late, and it takes the edge through to wicketkeeper Dane Schadendorf.

    Kent lose their third wicket, still a whopping 353 runs behind.

    He's had to play second fiddle for the last couple of overs - in which Saif Zaib hit four boundaries - but James Sales produces one of his own to reach a hundred off 165 balls.

    It's his second of the season in the County Championship and has led Northants to an 85-run lead at this point.

    Foakes has been adjudged to have feathered that behind and Durham have a fourth wicket.
