    Kent 62-2 v Notts 433

Lyndon James comes into the attack for the first time to get things going in the afternoon session.

He looks to have immediately found his groove and beats Daniel Bell-Drummond with a lovely delivery which moves away from the Kent skipper's bat.

A thick outside edge gives Bell-Drummond a couple to get the scoreboard ticking post-lunch and go to 24.

    Two from the over.

  4. Somerset looking for more wicketspublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 18 September

    Lancs 140 & 106-3 v Somerset 146

So what sort of total would Somerset feel comfortable about chasing in the fourth innings?

Yes, we've only had four sessions of the match but it is a pertinent question given their need to win this game and take the title race into the final week.

The pitch has less 'juice' out but Lancashire have some experienced seamers, who know its vagaries well.

First task for Somerset, though, is to try and pick up the seven wickets they need as cheaply as possible.

Lancashire have had the better of the first full session in what has become effectively a one innings game, as they added 90 runs for the loss of just two wickets.

Harry Singh has frustrated the Somerset seam attack with stout, well-organised defence, whilst Josh Bohannon went on the counter-attack, before falling to Kasey Aldridge, making a mess of a hook shot, just before lunch.

Craig Overton took the other wicket, that of nightwatchman Will Williams, pinned LBW, and has once again looked a class above the rest of the Somerset attack.

The pitch? Well that has mellowed, under the influence of the heavy roller and the glorious Manchester sunshine.

  7. Glamorgan look to Ingrampublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 18 September

    Glamorgan 98-6 v Yorkshire 361 - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Yorkshire can hardly have asked for a better first session as Matthew Fisher and Ben Coad blew away the Glamorgan top order to give the visitors high hopes of enforcing the follow-on in Cardiff.

The openers claimed two wickets apiece, finding just enough movement as Glamorgan slumped from 12-0 overnight to 37-4 under cloudy skies.

Glamorgan rebuilt against the change bowlers with a stand of 49 between Colin Ingram (41 not out) and Chris Cooke (20) as the sun broke through, but Fisher returned to tempt Cooke into an edge to Jonny Bairstow.

Fisher then pinned Timm van der Gugten leg-before to leave Glamorgan needing 114 from their last four wickets to reach the follow-on target.

Martin in Suffolk: "You can tell a lot about how a team might perform from their comments before a match - Mark Robinson was pretty downbeat, bemoaning injuries and a long season, and Sam Northeast made it clear they weren't prioritising the championship this week. No surprise therefore to see Warwicks and Glamorgan capitulating."

    Derbys 173 v Middlesex 207-5

The final ball of the morning session brings a wicket for Derbyshire as Jack Davies is caught off David Lloyd for nine.

Mark Stoneman remains on 107 not out, his second century of the season, and Middlesex lead by 34 runs.

Derbyshire managed to pick up four wickets during the session, which began with Middlesex 125-1, two of them for Alex Thomson.

  11. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 18 September

    Glos 109 v Sussex 259-6

A successful morning for Division Two leaders Sussex, with Jack Carson (56*) and John Simpson's (34*) unbroken 79-run partnership seeing them through to lunch.

Gloucestershire's Zafar Gohar has taken the two Sussex wickets to fall - James Coles and Henry Crocombe - as Sussex put on 110 runs in the morning session.

Sussex have a lead of 150 runs.

  12. Lunch at Northamptonpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 18 September

    Northants 250-4 v Leics 203

A single for James Sales from the penultimate ball before lunch brings up a first batting point for Northamptonshire.

And they have very much had the better of the morning, adding 116 to their overnight 134-3 for the loss of Rob Keogh (49).

Sales has 90 not out from 158 balls and will be looking to complete his second Championship hundred of the season this afternoon.

  13. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 18 September

    Surrey 155-3 v Durham 262

Ben Foakes is beaten twice outside the off stump by Daniel Hogg as Durham manage to squeeze in another over before lunch.

He gets through and they head off to the canteen.

An even morning with 103 runs added and three wickets taken.

Surrey looked to be cruising as Rory Burns (55) and Dom Sibley (26) moved their overnight 52-0 to 87-0.

But the hosts then lost both openers and Dan Lawrence in the space of five overs as the Durham attack got their rewards for a disciplined morning's work.

Ryan Patel (22) and Foakes (15) are now rebuilding and Surrey trail by 107.

  14. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 18 September

    Hampshire 462 v Worcs 24-3

Pears opener Gareth Roderick has kept his head while all about him have been losing theirs.

He's stayed firm and played a couple of picture perfect straight drives down the ground past the bowler for four, textbook stuff.

The visitors need him to stay in you suspect.

Mohammad Abbas has had an excellent opening spell, taking all three Worcestershire wickets.

He has 3-9 from four overs.

Shane Snater takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Warwickshire looked to have belatedly found some backbone with Alex Davies and Michael Burgess stopping rot which had looked terminal half an hour before lunch.

But the loss of their captain, falling lbw to man of the moment Shane Snater just before the break, has left them staring down the barrel with just four wickets remaining.

The finger of blame will not know where to point given a sloppy fielding display this morning which allowed Essex's tail to wag furiously.

But the Bears top order will be feeling justifiably sheepish over the bread rolls as they trail by 102 runs with just four wickets intact.

  16. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 18 September

    Lancs 140 & 106-3 v Somerset 146

Josh Bohannon is dismissedImage source, Rex Features

Young opener Harry Singh misses an attempted cut but survives the morning session at Old Trafford, which ends with Lancashire exactly 100 runs ahead.

Having removed Will Williams early, Somerset were frustrated by Singh - who has 26 not out from 109 balls - and Josh Bohannon, who added 85 for the third wicket.

The dismissal of Bohannon, though, shortly before the interval will have given them renewed impetus to take into the afternoon.

50 for Jack Carsonpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 18 September

    Glos 109 v Sussex 259-6

Sussex's Jack Carson hits Tom Price for four to bring up a half-century - and take his side over 250.

His partnership with John Simpson (34*) is now worth almost 80 and Sussex now lead by 150.

Luke Fletcher and the slips roar a loud appeal as the bowler shapes one away from the outside edge of Daniel Bell-Drummond.

No bat involved on its way through to wicketkeeper Dane Schadendorf.

DBD takes a single and that's lunch.

A good morning for the visitors who added 40 runs to their overnight total for the loss of four wickets to post 433 from their first innings.

A brace from Nathan Gilchrist took his wicket tally to four.

Luke Fletcher then removed both Kent openers Tawada Muyeye and Ben Compton on his 36th birthday to keep Notts in control.

Bell-Drummond reaches lunch on 22 and Jack Leaning has nine,

    Glam 98-6 v Yorks 361

Yorkshire have a vice-like grip on this game at lunch on day two and will feel they are just a wicket away from getting through Glamorgan.

Ben Coad (2-41) and Matthew Fisher (4-18) have done the damage taking all six wickets that have fallen between them.

Glamorgan have decent batting conditions this afternoon but no batters to take advantage as they stare down the barrel of a significant first innings deficit.
