    The power of the shot bursts through the hands of the 16-year-old.

    Ryan Patel unfurls a lovely stroke off the back foot to crunch the first ball of his sixth over in first-class cricket for four.

    The young pacer responds next ball by digging in a quick short ball which clears Patel's head and unfortunately the leap of wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson. Four byes.

    Yesterday, you couldn't afford to take your eyes off events in the middle without missing a wicket.

    Today, the early of dismissal of nightwatch Will Williams notwithstanding, Somerset are struggling to buy one at the moment.

    The Lancashire lead is 87 and they have eight wickets remaining.

    He then guides the New Zealand quick through square for another to bring up the Kent fifty off exactly eight overs

    So a fast start to their reply. BUT, it's the wickets that are the problem.

    James Minto in for his second over of the morning and Ben Foakes picks up another couple before guiding down to fine leg for a single.

    Patel then tries to hook a Minto short ball, but he's not in control and is a little lucky to get a single.

    Surrey will be keen to nurse their way through to lunch without further damage after those three quick wickets They trail by 136.
