  1. wicket

WICKET Abbott lbw Virdi 1published at 11:34 British Summer Time 18 September

    Hampshire 447-9 v Worcs

Home wickets are dropping like flies!

Who saw this coming at the start of play? Hampshire have lost five wickets in an hour.

Amar Virdi does indeed pick up a five-wicket haul as he traps Kyle Abbott lbw.

Will Nick Gubbins be in long enough to make it to 200?

Last man Muhammad Abbas is in alongside him.

  2. wicket

WICKET: Rhodes b Cook 0published at 11:29 British Summer Time 18 September

    Warks 78 & 1-2 v Essex 232

Sorry end for Rhodes's Warwickshire career as he exits for a duck.

The former Yorkshire batsman is off to Durham at the end of this season, bringing the curtain down on his six years at Edgbaston.

He remains 17 short of 1,000 first class runs for the season and he will not be doing it in front of his home crowd after losing his leg stump to a beautiful delivery from Sam Cook.

More importantly for Warwickshire, this is fast turning into a disastrous morning.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Rory Burnspublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 18 September

    Surrey 92-1 v Durham 262

He was dropped on 43 and survived a run-out attempt early in his knock, but an outside edge off de Leede to the third man boundary brings fifty for Rory Burns.

Just the 74th first-class half-century of his career.

It's come off 79 balls and has put Surrey in a super position in this huge match.

  4. wicket

WICKET Organ c van Beek b Virdi 3published at 11:27 British Summer Time 18 September

    Hampshire 441-8 v Worcs

Hampshire are going after maximum batting points and are losing quick wickets in the process.

Felix Organ goes big but picks out Logan van Beek on the boundary and he has to toss the ball up in the air as he steps over the rope but then steps back infield to take the catch - very casually done but it did the trick!

Nick Gubbins has stayed in at the other end as his batting partners have come and gone quickly. He's on 185 not out now.

Worcestershire's Amar Virdi and Tom Taylor both have four wickets now - can they both take five-wicket hauls?

  5. wicket

WICKET Holden b Morley 68published at 11:24 British Summer Time 18 September

    Derbys 173 v Middlesex 162-2

Relief for Derbyshire as Jack Morley finds a way through Max Holden's defences.

Holden will need 43 in the second innings to reach 1,000 runs for the season.

  6. wicket

WICKET Sibley c Bedingham b de Leede 26published at 11:23 British Summer Time 18 September

    Surrey 87-1 v Durham 262

    We have a breakthrough!

A good length ball from Bas De Leede induces an outside edge from Dom Sibley and David Bedingham pouches the chance at first slip.

A good low catch down to his right hand side.

    Ryan Patel is in.

  7. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 18 September

    Lancs 140 & 47-2 v Somerset 146

In the context of a Championship debut appearance, this is a fine effort for Lancashire by opener Harry Singh.

The 20-year-old survives another Lewis Gregory over and has 17 not out off 68 balls.

There's an anxious moment when he tries to drive and the ball swings away to beat the bat, but flicks the final delivery away for a couple.

  8. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 433published at 11:22 British Summer Time 18 September

    Schadendorff c Bell-Drummond b Jordan 29

Dane Schadendorf hits Akeem Jordan back over his head, but instead of a boundary, his 34-ball knock comes to an end.

Daniel Bell-Drummond runs aroudn from long on to take a fine running catch.

Notts settle for four batting points.

  9. wicket

WICKET: Yates lbw b Cook 1published at 11:20 British Summer Time 18 September

    Warks 78 & 1-1 v Essex 232

    Terrible start for Warwickshire.

Rob Yates had played and missed a couple in Jamie Porter's first over, edging one and surviving a couple of strangled lbw shouts.

But he could not get his defences organised against Sam Cook in the second, pinned as the Essex seamer got one to angle in.

The hosts need to get a bad first hour out of their minds here if they are to start chipping away at a 154 run first innings advantage.

  10. wicket

WICKET Fuller lbw Virdi 10published at 11:20 British Summer Time 18 September

    Hampshire 431-7 v Worcs

    Amar VirdiImage source, Rex Features

Nick Gubbins may have survived an lbw shout from Amar Virdi earlier but batting partner James Fuller isn't so fortunate.

He is a bit flat-footed as Virdi spins it back into the stumps and as Fuller misses his shot there's no doubt he has to walk.

That's the third of the morning for the Pears inside about 50 minutes, and a third for Virdi.

  11. wicket

WICKET Ahmed b Gilchrist 2published at 11:18 British Summer Time 18 September

    Kent v Notts 431-9

    That's a beauty!

Nathan Gilchrist has been expensive but now has four wickets with a super delivery to clean up Farhan Ahmed.

It pitches middle and leg and hits top of off.

Too good for thee, lad. Last man Jacob Duffy comes to the crease.

  12. Postpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 18 September

    Lancs 140 & 43-2 v Somerset

    Almost.

Josh Bohannon wafts at a ball from Josh Randell and is fortunate that it doesn't take the edge.

That's much better as he clips the New Zealander through the leg-side for four.

  13. Postpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 18 September

    Surrey 85-0 v Durham 262

Dom Sibley edges but its safe and beats Emilio Gay at gully for four.

Daniel Hogg then overpitches and Sibley pounces, turning it through mid-wicket for another boundary.

Another one! Sibley edges again to the rope to end the over with three successive fours. He's suddenly on 26.

  14. 150 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 18 September

    Derbys 173 v Middlesex 153-1

Boundary for Max Holden at the start of a new spell by spinner Jack Morley. Derbyshire badly need to break this partnership which began when Sam Robson was out before a run had been scored.

  15. wicket

WICKET: Kellaway c Bairstow b Coad 4published at 11:13 British Summer Time 18 September

    Glam 37-4 v Yorks 361

Another one down and Glamorgan's reply is faltering.

Ben Coad gets more than hint of away swing, Ben Kellaway gets a feather and Jonny Bairstow, with a tumble to his right, takes a safe catch.

  16. wicket

WICKET Crocombe c van Buuren b Gohar 10published at 11:12 British Summer Time 18 September

    Glos 109 v Sussex 181-6

Zafar Gohar is doing the damage for Gloucestershire this morning, picking up his second wicket in quick succession.

Henry Crocombe tries to come down the track to the bowler but is caught out by the turn and Graeme van Buuren pouches the catch at mid-off.

    Sussex's lead is 72.

  17. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 18 September

    Lancs 140 & 39-2 v Somerset 146

    Is that out?

Lewis Gregory strikes Harry Singh on the pad and is convinced he is leg-before.

Martin Saggers - who knows a thing or three about seam bowling - shakes his head.

  18. Postpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 18 September

    Surrey 72-0 v Durham 262

The sun breaks through the cloud cover at The Oval as Chemar Holder comes in for his first bowl of the innings.

Rory Burns takes a single to move to 45 and Holder oversteps fourth ball to give Surrey two more runs.

Tidy opening over from the paceman.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Snater b Miles 69published at 11:07 British Summer Time 18 September

    Warks 78 v Essex 232

Shane Snater loses his middle stump and Essex's innings finally comes to an end.

That has been a sloppy and potentially match-losing first hour from Warwickshire with the last pair adding 43 this morning.

Against this Essex attack on this pitch a first innings lead of 154 could well be defining.

  20. wicket

WICKET Prest c Brookes b Taylor 9published at 11:06 British Summer Time 18 September

    Hampshire 412-6 v Worcs

Another one for Tom Taylor and Hampshire are six down.

Tom Prest started very positively with two boundaries in four balls but he's a little tentative with this shot as Taylor angles one in and the ball pops up off the bat to give Ethan Brookes an easy catch at mid-wicket.

Taylor has 4-86 from his 17 overs.

Nick Gubbins then survives an lbw shout from Amar Virdi and continues on 170 not out.
