Four deliveries after replacing the ball for a third time - in the 69th over - Durham make a big breakthrough!

Canny bowling from Callum Parkinson who draws Tom Curran wide and then goes quicker with an arm ball which clips the top of off stump.

The spinner has bowled very nicely.

Curran goes for a valuable 22 off 81 balls and Jordan Clark is in with Surrey 30 runs in arrears.

Bas de Leede is back hunting a fifth wicket. The lead is 36.

  8. ouch!

    Hampshire 462 v Worcs 142-5

Gareth Roderick is rapped on the pads by James Fuller and that one looks like it hurt him as he hops away in some discomfort.

It was yet another lbw shout from Hampshire but again it was turned down by the umpire - it did look to be going down leg.

  9. wicket

WICKET: Hollman b Moore 33published at 14:54 British Summer Time 18 September

    Derbys 178 v Middx 308-7

    Sam WoodImage source, Rex Features

No fourth batting point for Northants as Sam Wood - or Samuel Berridge Wood to give him his full name - claims his first wicket in a Championship game by bowling Jack White.

Northants lead by 180, thanks mainly to an innings of 135 by James Sales, who shared stands of 117 with Rob Keogh (49) and 131 with Saif Zaib (71 off 70 balls).

Because of the proximity to tea, they will take during the changeover.

    Lancs 140 & 176-6 v Somerset 146

If there hadn't been an inside edge onto the pad there, he would have been gone - surely.

Brett Randell produces a huge inswinger which almost brings the wicket of Luke Wells, but not quite.

The next ball is overpitched and driven for four.

    Surrey 220-5 v Durham 262

    Ryan PatelImage source, Rex Features

Ryan Patel rolls his wrist and pulls James Minto away for his fifth boundary and his half-century.

That's his 10th first-class fifty and his third in as many matches after knocks of 77 and 70 against Notts and Somerset, respectively.

The milestone comes off 92 balls thanks to a fair amount of luck.

It's not been easy but he's playing a big hand for his county in a crucial stage of the match.

  16. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 18 September

    Surrey 215-5 v Durham 262

    Close!

Rocky Flintoff is down the pitch and lofts Jack Leach for four.

The canny England spinner outfoxes the youngster, though, with an arm ball which cleans him up as he tries to pull it into the leg side.

A good effort by Flintoff - perhaps 'uncle Jack' will have a few words of advice at the end of play?

  18. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 18 September

    Hampshire 462 v Worcs 130-5

This is good stuff from the Pears as another flurry of boundaries from Ethan Brookes, who enjoys reverse sweeping Felix Organ, moves him within three runs of an almost a run-a-ball 50.

  19. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 18 September

    Northants 382-8 v Leics 203

The next target for Northants is a fourth batting point and they are fewer than 20 runs away now as Lewis McManus hits two fours in three balls off Ian Holland.

Holland has 3-53 - Ben Sanderson became his third victim a few overs back, lbw for a duck.
