Oval Invincibles captain Lauren Winfield-Hill on BBC Two, speaking about missing out on the final: “To be fair, I thought they bowled well and we knew we’d have to bowl really well to defend such a low total. I think if Laura Harris faced another 10 balls we could have got another 15, 20 runs there but it wasn’t to be.

Credit to them, they bowled straight and made it pretty hard work for us and it’s always difficult when you’re trying to defend such a low total.”

“Our bowlers were searching for wickets all the time and with that, sometimes you don’t execute, but I thought we showed a lot of fight and character to go toe-to-toe for as long as we did. It would have been quite easy to roll over and let that game drift away pretty quickly but to take it that close to the wire shows a lot about the group.”

On captaining: “I’ve loved it. It’s a massive honour for me, it’s a great club, a great team, we’re stacked with world class players so to lead the group has been amazing, I’m pretty lucky that we’ve got such a great group and you know lots of players that have been together, there’s a core of this group now that’s been around for a while so I’ve really enjoyed it, I’ve probably had a few more sleepless nights but it's good, I’ve really enjoyed it and hopefully we sort of stick together as a group and come back bigger and better next year.”

A frustrating day for Oval Invincibles, two-time winners of The Hundred. They were kept quiet with the bat as Spirit's bowlers squeezed, and also put down a couple of chances in the field.

There will be a new winner of The Hundred in the women's competition tomorrow, taking the title from Southern Brave (who finished bottom of the table this year).

  4. 'Our bowlers won it for us again and Gray was the standout'published at 17:03 British Summer Time 17 August

London Spirit captain Heather Knight on progressing to the final: "Really pleased. I think there have been a lot of nervy chases in this competition, so we were really desperate to try and get ahead early and keep that momentum going.

"I think our bowlers won it for us again - they were outstanding. The spinners were outstanding again, keeping the stumps in the game. It was a little bit of a different Oval surface, it felt a little bit used and it didn't bounce as much as it usually does.

"Eva Gray was the standout for me. She has really built into this competition. She was only bowling five or 10 balls at the start and has become a really key bowler for us.

"It was a brilliant display in the field as well - we held a lot of the catches and took some stunners as well - that was really nice to see."

Heather Knight is playing really well this year. She has been criticised a couple of times about not scoring all that quickly, so she has developed her game.

I think all the other teams will be watching today, and seeing that there is going to be a new winner this year.

That is so refreshing and I like that - I think a lot of them will like that. I don't know who they would prefer to win, I think it would be a split.

But it's just nice to see a different team progressing to the final and hashing it out! It's nice to see a Lord's team doing it at Lord's.

A cracking partnership between Heather Knight and Georgia Redmayne, of 74 from 51 balls, sees Spirit over the line.

Redmayne finishes unbeaten on 53, and Knight with 36. They'll be taking plenty of confidence into tomorrow's final.

Georgia Redmayne hits the winning runs, reaches her fifty in the process and sends London Spirit into their first Hundred final!

The Spirit will be on home turf tomorrow, where they will meet Tammy Beaumont's Welsh Fire.

A dominant performance today from Heather Knight's side.

    Two dots!

Capsey makes London Spirit wait a little longer...

  10. Spirit 112-2published at 12 balls left

Alice Capsey is going to finish Smale's spell - and is greeted by Heather Knight's reverse sweep for four!

Spirit are just two runs away from the final!

  11. Spirit 108-2published at 13 balls left

    Need six runs to win

There's a bit of a delay as Sophia Smale hits her head while diving in her follow-through.

She stays down for a bit, but thankfully is up and moving. However, she is taken from the field for a concussion test so won't complete her spell.

  12. Spirit 107-2published at 15 balls left

Just seven runs needed from the final 15 balls for London Spirit.

They've been helped by mistakes from the Invincibles, but it's been an impressively steady chase under pressure.

That catch was actually very tricky. It was swirling and clearly spinning from Heather Knight. Alice Capsey didn't really manage to read the trajectory of it.

It is a clear blue sky up above so you've got nothing to gauge the depth of the ball - but Capsey will rue that miss!

  14. dropped catch

    Spirit 103-2

    Knight gets another chance!

A tricky one, with the ball swirling high in the air for a long time and Alice Capsey is running backwards. She completely loses sight of it and the ball just falls through her outstretched hands.

It probably would've been too little too late anyway for the Invincibles but it's another blemish in a frustrating afternoon for them.

  15. Spirit 101-2published at 20 balls left

    Need 13 runs to win

The attendance has been confirmed as 15,832 at The Oval today.

The Hundred continues to do brilliant things for women's cricket.

  16. Spirit 100-2published at 22 balls left

    Need 14 runs to win

Ryana Macdonald-Gay is clearly unhappy with the six, sending down a bouncer to the England skipper.

But Heather Knight just stays still, and guides it down to deep third for four more.

Spirit are heading into the final at a canter.

Heather Knight is just showing her dominance a little bit here. She is showing that she has got herself in now and got the read of this wicket.

She put that over effortlessly and didn't have to over-hit that at all.

She has taken a real dent out of this run chase now.

    Spirit 84-2

    More frustration for Smale.

Knight sweeps straight to short fine leg, where Rachel Slater drops a pretty straightforward chance.

Spirit now need 30 runs from 30 balls. They are in full control.

    Nearly!

Heather Knight drills four down the ground, just evading the hands of Sophia Smale in her follow-through. She struggles to time her jump to get there, with Knight getting that right out of the middle.
