This is interesting. We saw a lot of spin before lunch and we will see a little bit of pace after it through Brydon Carse.

England were brilliant to get three Pakistan wickets. We've talked about how Pakistan's second innings haven't been great and they seem to be following that trend.

Two very close slips in place as Brydon Carse bowls to Kamran Ghulam.

The Pakistan debutant's very loud shouts of "wait on!" are bringing memories of watching Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne batting for hour upon hour during away Ashes series screaming back...

Right, the players are back out for the afternoon session.

Pakistan lead by 118 with seven wickets remaining.

Things could happen quickly and, immediately, Ben Stokes has sprung a surprise by handing the ball to seamer Brydon Carse for the first over after lunch.

You and Andy are on opposite ends of the optimism-pessimism scale, Rachel!

I'm not sure about anything but this England team have made a habit of defying the odds with fourth-innings chases in the Bazball era.

As I mentioned before, I reckon they'd definitely back themselves to chase something around 200.

Doing it is another matter entirely, though...

I’d back England to chase anything down, even on this pitch.

England certainly won't want to be chasing too many more, Andy.

How many would they back themselves to knock off on this pitch? 180? 200?

Anything more really would be a challenge.

England's seamers performed admirably in Pakistan's first innings but unsurprisingly, Ben Stokes has gone exclusively with spin so far in their second.

It has brought three wickets so far and all three have gone to young Shoaib Bashir.

The 21-year-old offie has received a bit of criticism for his performances so far in this series but he's come to the party when England need him in this innings.

Three down, seven to go for England - and they need them before Pakistan's lead grows too much larger.

England were still batting at the start of the day, although not for all that long as they lost their last four wickets inside the first hour.

A last-wicket stand of 29 between Jack Leach, who made an unbeaten 25, and Shoaib Bashir could yet prove crucial but Pakistan's first-innings lead of 75 is a big one on this pitch.

The star for Pakistan was off-spinner Sajid Khan, who took 7-111, the best Test figures at Multan.

Noman Ali claimed the other three as all 10 England wickets fell to spin.

This is why Bashir is so highly valued by England, and all the naysayers from the last few days need to give it a rest. He’s going to take 100s of wickets for England if he is given the chance to keep improving. Superb talent.

Well, it's certainly been an eventful morning session.

The spinners are getting huge turn off this surface, even off the straight now, and it is only going to get harder to bat on.

Pakistan's lead is already 118. Chasing too many more than that already looks like it will be a challenge so England need those seven remaining wickets very, very quickly after lunch.

Thanks, Matt. It's all go in Multan, isn't it?

I don't know about it all finishing today (although I wouldn't rule it out) but if anybody was planning to start their Saturday by watching the fifth day of this second Test, I'd suggest looking into some alternatives...

The high fives and pats on the back tell you England believe as they make their way off.

There have been seven wickets in that session. Shoaib Bashir has all three of those to have gone to England.

Saim Ayub doesn't want to go. He's still standing there and I don't know why he's standing there, except because of absolute disappointment.

With the last ball of the session!

England love that while Saim Ayub does not want to move. Shoaib Bashir finds just that little bit of extra kick from the pitch and it nestles in Ollie Pope's hands again after an edge.

Jack Leach's comeback over is a maiden with a couple of beauties that do everything a spinner wants but take the edge.

I wonder when Ben Stokes will bowl a pacer, if at all.

There'll be one more over before lunch.
