At what point does this 10th wicket partnership become irritating for Brook?

  6. Aus 232-9published at 39 overs

    Acceleration from Alex Carey!

He strikes Adil Rashid for consecutive fours, driving down the ground and then sweeping behind square, where Olly Stone fails to keep the ball from the ropes.

That's Rashid's ten overs done - he finishes with figures of 2-42.

  7. Aus 223-9published at 38 overs

Carey refuses a second-ball single, as he looks to farm the strike for the remainder of the innings.

The tail-ender fends off the final two balls of the over.

VoiceoftheMysterons: Does Brydon Carse bagging two tail enders in consecutive balls otherwise excuse him from going for ten an over ?

Rick Harris: Rashid and Potts have bowled beautifully today. Two players who have played far, far too little Test cricket.

  9. Aus 222-9published at 37 overs

Josh Hazlewood is last man out of the hutch for Australia.

He blocks out the remainder of Rashid's over.

The notion of tailenders playing for the batter at the other end seems to have evaporated!

It's amazing how this game can turn around. Carse was having a nightmare, now he's on a hat-trick!

Looks like a good bowling change! He went to Carse with a bit of trepidation but it's a change of pace. Hardie had probably seen Marsh pummelling it into the Western Terrace, but he got it too high on the bat.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.1 overs

    Hardie c Potts b Carse 23 (Aus 216-7)

Back to the full-timers, back in the wickets!

Brydon Carse returns to the attack and claims the wicket of Aaron Hardie with his first ball.

A bit of a snorter from the Durham seamer, catches Australia all-rounder by surprise and he can only spoon the ball to Matty Potts at mid-wicket.

Jack: Not sure about bowling Livingstone and Jacks here - feel we should be going for the kill with the Aussies 6 down.

  20. Aus 216-6published at 35 overs

Australia's post-drinks acceleration continues, with two more fours coming from Livingstone's second over.

Hardie finds the ropes past gully, before Carey strikes through the covers to bring up the fifty partnership.
