The India batters must've decided to just play Sophie Ecclestone out and not try anything fancy.

Sophie Ecclestone has just got the ball on a string today. Everything has been perfect, the line, the length, the bounce.

  3. Ind 99-2published at 22 overs

Make that 1-14 from seven. India are refusing to give Ecclestone a sniff of a second wicket.

The Indian diving has been fantastic today.

  5. Not outpublished at 21.3 overs

    Nope, the dive saves Deol.

Harmanpreet Kaur set off for a risky single having dabbed the ball straight to Lauren Filer at short fine leg, but they get through safely.

    What do I know?

Sophie Ecclestone is going to bowl seven overs straight. Has the pressure told on Harleen Deol with a run out?

That's driven beautifully, it was overpitched by Linsey Smith but beautifully hit by Harmanpreet Kaur.

Another misfield from England gives India a bonus run but in fairness to Charlie Dean, she's deceived by some awkward bounce as it skids off one of the practice pitches.

But the single is costly, because Harmanpreet Kaur crunches the next ball through the covers for four.

India targeted Linsey Smith really effectively during the T20s and they look keen to do the same here, taking 10 from her first.

I feel bad for Linsey Smith. The last thing you want at the start of your over is a no-ball.

  10. Ind 92-2published at 20.1 overs

Not the ideal start for Linsey Smith, whose first delivery is a no-ball and gifts a free hit to Harleen Deol.

No hesitation from the India batter. Down the pitch, and four.

England use review to dismiss Rawal for 26

Six overs, 1-12 from Sophie Ecclestone as Harmanpreet Kaur is perfectly happy to just block out the over, which is likely to be the last in this spell.

A great period for Ecclestone and Charlie Dean, who got the opening breakthrough of Pratika Rawal.

  13. Ind 87-2published at 19 overs

    Lovely.

Finally, Harleen Deol looks to be proactive against the spin. She skips down the pitch to Charlie Dean and drives through the covers for four.

That's the first boundary in 70 balls.

I don't like a batter in a hat instead of a helmet. What if she plays something wrong and hits herself in the face?

  16. Ind 81-2published at 18 overs

    Wicket maiden.

Brilliant from Ecclestone, and India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is tasked with the rebuild.

She comes out in a cap, knowing she's going to face a lot of spin.

    Media caption,

England take 'big wicket' as Mandhana caught for 45 by Dunkley at mid-wicket

    What was I saying?

Smriti Mandhana can't believe it. She finally gets a loose ball from Sophie Ecclestone, far too short, but she clubs it straight to Sophia Dunkley at short mid-wicket.

A smart catch, as it was travelling quickly.

  18. Ind 81-1published at 17 overs

India seem happy to keep rotating the strike for the time being but you feel that Harleen Deol needs to get a move on, to stop that pressure building too much on Mandhana.

Deol has five from 17 balls...

India are pretty much in control of the game at the minute. There was no pressure put on by Lauren Bell or Lauren Filer. It's been Sophie Ecclestone who's put the pressure on, Charlie Dean also managed to chip in.

As long as Smriti Mandhana is out there, India are on top.

    Rufus Bullough
    CricViz analyst

In the history of Women’s ODI cricket, there have been 14 opening pairs that have managed over 1,000 runs between them.

Of the 14, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal’s average partnership is the highest of all (78) and are the only pair to do so at better than a run a ball (6.2 rpo).

In just four of the fourteen times they have opened the batting together for India, they have failed to put on an opening stand of 50.
