India will have to be careful especially if they lose another wicket before new ball. Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes can be dangerous with the new ball.

Think we can confirm that Jofra is still quick, no matter what spell.

    Chris

This is what you want Jof back for. Rapid, scrambling brains, causing chaos. Welcome back big man!

Crunch. A shorter delivery from Shoaib Bashir is given treatment by Ravindra Jadeja. Four into the leg side.

India add six runs to their tally. Brydon Carse comes into the attack.

That is only the second run out India have suffered at Lord's in their last eight Tests since 1990.

Finally a proper single. I am not sure what I am witnessing but it is bizarre. Before lunch, India made a mistake but they need to learn from it. I am not sure what these guys are doing. Ravindra Jadeja is very quick between the wickets but he needs to think about his partner as well.

The crowd is very involved with Archer in fine rhythm again here.

Back to his best? Archer's six deliveries all above 90mph

Jofra Archer is steaming in and bowling above 90mph. Every delivery is preceded by a rumble of anticipation.

Ravindra Jadeja takes a sensible single. However, this exposes the nervy Nitish Kumar Reddy to Archer. Alternating between blocking and ducking, he survives all four deliveries. Make that 0 off 20.

Possibly for the first run Pope run out chance, and certainly for the second, England needed someone to get to the striker's stumps. Archer had followed-through so far he was actually closer than the turning Reddy. Where was Smith?

    Prove me wrong Bashir!

Nitish Kumar Reddy is still yet to score. He faces four deliveries from Shoaib Bashir after Ravindra Jadeja takes a single but remains on 0 (16).

England's chances of victory, according to WinViz, have gone back up to 50% following KL Rahul's dismissal. At lunch, England were at 36% to India's 31%.

A direct hit and he would have been well out. Ollie Pope has missed again, he had quite a bit of the stump to aim at. That is three run out opportunities England have had.

  13. Ind 259-5published at 71 overs

    What are India doing?

Nitish Kumar Reddy, on 0 (11), tries to get off the mark off the final ball of the 71st over. He gets halfway to the other end before Ravindra Jadeja sends him back.

Ollie Pope picked the ball up cleanly but misses the stumps by some distance. What a let off for India.

  14. Ind 258-5published at 70 overs

Lovely shot. Ravindra Jadeja, down on one knee, sweeps Shoaib Bashir fine for three.

It's the only scoring shot of the over.

Bowled at just 80kph (49.7mph), Bashir's delivery to dismiss KL Rahul was his fifth slowest of the innings.

Chaotic scenes. Very impressive from Jofra Archer from the pace he is generating and the difference he is making.

  17. Ind 255-5published at 69 overs

Good point, Sir Alastair (@13:55). England were 271-7 before that partnership between Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith. It's worth remembering that Smith had earlier been dropped (by KL Rahul) and that it was around the start of that partnership that India starting faffing around with ball changes.

Back to the action - Jofra Archer is incensed. He can't believe Ravindra Jadeja hasn't been given out lbw. England opt against the review and replays show it would've been umpire's call on impact.

The same ball nearly brought about a run out with Nitish Kumar Reddy caught on his heels. Fortunately for India, Ollie Pope's throw was wild and wide.

Go on Bashir! Lovely delivery, make them play. Into the tail now.

Historically, with the bat, Ravindra Jadeja has performed better in the first innings of Tests in England compared to the second. He averages 40.1 in the first innings compared to just 28.5 in the second.

What England did well when they lost three quick wickets yesterday was the partnership between Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith. India need something like that now.
