  1. Ban 140-5published at 32 overs

A tight over from Mitchell Santner. Just the two singles to Bangladesh's total.

  2. Ban 138-5published at 31 overs

    Jaker Ali is living dangerously.

Off the last ball of a good over for Bangladesh, he wanders out of his crease and is nearly run out at the non-striker's end as Kyle Jamieson gets his hand to Najmul Hossain Shanto's strike. If he'd diverted that onto the stumps, Ali would've been well out.

  3. Ban 131-5published at 30 overs

Oooooh nearly the end of the line for Jaker Ali! He tries to sweep Mitchell Santner but gets a top edge and the ball bounces just short of the fielder, who was absolutely steaming in.

Santner throws in a wide for good measure. Four runs from the over.

Jaker Ali would be Bangladesh's main man for those boundaries.

With five down and 21 overs to go when do you take that risk?

  5. Bracewell's best bowling figurespublished at 11:04 Greenwich Mean Time

Michael Bracewell's 4-26 are his best figures in one-day internationals. It has also taken him joint-top of the leading wicket-takers in the tournament. He has five now, the same as India's Mohammed Shami.

Here are Bracewell's best ODI figures:

    • 4-26 v Bangladesh (24 February, 2025)
    • 4-36 v Sri Lanka (17 November, 2024)
    • 3-21 v Netherlands (2 April, 2022)
    • 3-43 v Scotland (31 July, 2022)

  6. Ban 127-5published at 29 overs

    Bangladesh's batting feels very flat.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Jaker Ali are rotating the strike well, and they won't be complaining about New Zealand's persistence in bowling wides, but they need a bit of oomph.

  7. Ban 123-5published at 28 overs

Jaker Ali benefits from a misfield to pick up a welcome four. It's Bangladesh's first boundary since the 20th over.

Michael Bracewell has been the undoing of Bangladesh - he's taken out the two big names.

A good day at the office for Bracewell.

  9. Ban 119-5published at 27 overs

A wicket and a single from Michael Bracewell's 10th over to finish with figures of 4-26.

Bangladesh will be glad to see the back of him.

Not a clean shot from Mahmudullah. Not a good ending. Mahmudullah is out and Bangladesh are in trouble.

The plan has not been executed. They have squandered a good start.

    Michael Bracewell strikes again!

That's four wickets for the New Zealand spinner and he probably won't pick up an easier four-fer in his career.

It's another gift from Bangladesh. The highly experienced Mahmudullah edges an ugly hoick and picks out Will O'Rourke.

  12. Ban 118-4published at 26 overs

New Zealand's spinners are absolutely rattling through these middle overs.

Mitchell Santner concedes four singles from his third. Bangladesh creep to 118-4.

  13. Ban 114-4published at 25 overs

Another tidy over from Michael Bracewell, with just one single coming from it.

Mahmudullah plays out five dot balls but I don't mind that. There's still plenty of time left in the innings and Bangladesh to build a partnership.

It will be interesting to see how Mahmudullah comes in here. Bangladesh needs to push on, but I'm not convinced Mahmudullah is fully fit.

Bangladesh are starting to slow down a little bit and they need to find runs from somewhere.

  15. Ban 113-4published at 24 overs

New Zealand's bowlers have done an excellent job of keeping Bangladesh on a tight leash. The run rate is only heading in one direction.

However, their extra count is frustrating. Two more wides from Mitchell Santner in that over.

A moment of cheer for Bangladesh as Najmul Hossain Shanto brings up his half-century off 71 balls.

The job is far from done for Bangladesh's skipper, however.

Frustration is starting to creep in for Bangladesh.

Mushfiqur Rahim playing out of his comfort zone and he's been caught a couple of metres from the boundary.

Mr. Dependable - not living up to his name.

    Mushfiqur c Ravindra b Bracewell 2 (Ban 106-4)

Another needless dismissal for Bangladesh. They've really been the architects of their own downfall today.

It's a pretty ordinary delivery from Michael Bracewell. Mushfiqur Rahim goes for the slog sweep but doesn't get the distance and picks out Rachin Ravindra in the deep.

Why did he play that shot so early in his innings? Only he'll know the answer to that.

    Thanks Jonty.

Well, it's been an odd start, hasn't it? Neither side has really stamped their authority on proceedings.

Najmul Hossain Shanto is playing a good anchoring knock for Bangladesh but his teammates have been guilty of giving away their wickets.

  20. Ban 105-3published at 22 overs

Mitchell Santner hits the pads of Najmul Hossain Shanto with the first ball of the over.

It looked down the leg side live, but replays suggest it was closer than New Zealand's fielders may have thought.

Six runs come from that over.

To take you through the next spell, I hand you over to Elizabeth Botcherby.
