There was no need to play that shot.

Michael Bracewell has been the tidiest of New Zealand bowlers. Up in the air and it was a brilliant catch.

    Great stuff from Kane Williamson.

    Hridoy c Williamson b Bracewell 7 (Ban 97-3)

A brilliant catch from Kane Williamson!

Tawhid Hridoy looked to take on Michael Bracewell there with a charge and slog.

Hridoy cleared the infield, but not by much and Williamson runs back from cover to take the catch.

Hridoy departs on seven, made from 24 balls.

It was a numbers game there.

Najmul Hossain Shanto banked on Will O'Rourke coming into the slot, but he went through with the shot anyway.

It was an ugly half tennis shot back over the bowlers head.

  6. Ban 95-2published at 19.1 overs

    Clattered from Najmul Hossain Shanto.

The Bangladesh captain charges down the ground and moves well into the 40s with his latest boundary.

  7. Ban 91-2published at 19 overs

A good over for Bangladesh who score eight in total, four singles and the boundary.

Will O'Rourke keeps the ball for his sixth over in a row.

Will O'Rourke made an absolute mess of that.

  9. Ban 88-2published at 18.2 overs

Najmul Hossain Shanto gets the broom out and for the first time in what feels like a while, Bangladesh score a boundary.

In reality, Will O'Rourke should have stopped that. Shanto first beat him at short third man. O'Rourke chased it down and got there, but his boundary save attempt proved to be in vein.

  10. Ban 83-2published at 18 overs

Two runs come from the over for Bangladesh, the first of which via another Will O'Rourke wide which is stopped well by Tom Latham.

Michael Bracewell will bowl his sixth over in a row next up.

Bangladesh's rate of scoring has dropped quite significantly in the last 10 overs.

At the end of the first powerplay, they were 58-1 and had been scoring at a rate of 5.8 runs per over.

In the seven overs since, they have been 23-1 at a scoring rate 3.29 per over.

  12. Ban 81-2published at 17 overs

For his second over in a row, spinner Michael Bracewell gives up just one single to Bangladesh's batters.

He and Will O'Rourke have got the two wickets so far, and it is O'Rourke who will continue from the other end.

I was surprised that New Zealand opted to bowl first. The pitch looked a belter and usually it's a high scoring ground, but you go with what's working for you.

We have already seen three sixes from Bangladesh today, including this from Tanzid Hasan.

    Drinks breakpublished at 16 overs

    Ban 80-2

Will O'Rourke is keeping things tidier, helped by Tawhid Hridoy struggling to get his innings really going.

Just two singles come from the over and now, it is time for a drink.

  16. Ban 78-2published at 15 overs

Michael Bracewell rattles through yet another over that gives up very little in terms of runs.

Just one single comes from Bracewell's latest.

  17. Ban 77-2published at 14 overs

An expensive over from Will O'Rourke, with 11 runs coming from it including Najmul Hossain Shanto's two fours.

  18. Ban 76-2published at 13.4 overs

Another four for the Bangladesh captain, this time tickled fine.

Not the shot Najmul Hossain Shanto would have wanted via a thick edge, but it finds the gap and there are runs on offer.

Bangladesh's batters are all small guys and they're deep in the crease. Their first movement is back waiting for that length.

Good extension of the wrists from Najmul Hossain Shanto.

  20. Ban 72-2published at 13.1 overs

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is the set batter and after a shaky start, is looking more composet.

He picks up his fifth four of the innings with a well-controlled pull shot after Will O'Rourke gave up two via a wide.
