Jamie Smith’s 80-ball hundred featured just 7.4% false shots.

Of the 54 better than a run-a-ball Test centuries since 2006, Smith’s control percentage is the fifth best of them all. Only AB de Villiers' 2010 hundred v India was faster and with more control.

    • AB de Villiers: 105* (75) v India 2010 - 6.6% false shots
    • Jamie Smith: 101* (80) v India 2025 - 7.4%
    • Tilakaratne Dilshan: 100* (93) v Bangladesh 2009 - 6.4%
    • Mominal Haque: 101* (96) v Sri Lanka 2018 - 7.2%
    • Prithvi Shaw: 101* (99) v West Indies 2018- 7.0%

Thanks, Elizabeth. You find yourself storing away all sorts of cricketing nuggets never knowing when they might come in handy.

Anyway, what an utterly compelling session of cricket that was.

That's a completely brilliant 100, Jamie Smith's second ever Test century. He's had an absolutely stunning knock, he's barely done anything wrong and he's brought the fight back to India.

100 for Jamie Smithpublished at 46.3 overs

Yup, Jamie Smith wins the race to three figures. It's not quite Gilbert Jessop but he's reached three figures off just 80 deliveries.

He came in with Mohammed Siraj on a hat-trick and has responded with a wonderful counter-attacking knock. A faultless innings.
