    Stokes c Pant b Siraj 0 (Eng 84-5)

Ben Stokes is out. Two in two for Mohammed Siraj and India.

That was a fantastic delivery from Siraj. A shorter delivery reared up at the England captain and Rishabh Pant takes the catch behind the stumps.

    Siraj is on a hat-trick.

Joe Root can't believe it, just a little tickle. That was such an innocuous delivery from Mohammed Siraj. It was a good diving catch from Rishabh Pant.

Joe Root is out, not much of a ball from Mohammed Siraj to be honest, nicely taken by Rishabh Pant.

That is a ghastly start from England.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 21.3 overs

    Root c Pant b Siraj 22 (Eng 84-4)

    What a start for India!

Nine balls into day three and Joe Root is on his way, caught by a diving Rishabh Pant after tickling the ball down the leg side.

Mohammed Siraj spreads both arms wide in celebration.

It feels as thought the spinners will have a big impact today but certainly in this first session, if India can take a few wickets, they'll have the game. If England can hold up against the barrage, they'll be in a strong position.

    • Day 2 - 38.46
    • Day 3 - 21.13
    • Day 4 - 37.39

A couple of no balls get the scoreboard moving before Joe Root produces the first scoring shot off the day, the penultimate delivery of the over racing away through midwicket for four.

Mohammed Siraj will bowl the first over from the other end.

The England bowlers bowl the balls into the pitch. Akash Deep bowls it through the crease which is probably why he caught a few of them off guard yesterday.

Ooops. Akash Deep starts with a big front-foot no ball.

Akash Deep, who already has two wickets to his name, will bowl the first over of the day.

Joe Root, facing, has 18 (37) and Harry Brook has 30 (53).

England are 77-3 in reply to India's 587. Remember, they need to reach 388 to rule out the follow on.

    Off we go.

It's nearly time for day three to get under way.

India can't let England come out with a flyer. Washington Sundar has played a lot of white-ball cricket so he does have the tendency to send the ball flying. The question for him is can he rise to the occasion.

Because England are so desperate to score and having to play on the front foot, I wonder if they'll look at other ways to play. They could declare 100 behind and try to put the pressure back on India, memories of their collapse in the last Test would come flooding back. They'll take each session as it comes.

Yesterday was the best day of Test match cricket from India over the past year, It's been a shaky time for them.

I think India will be focused on Joe Root, he has that uncanny ability who can play that long deep innings and let the England batsmen carry on around him and get some quick runs.

We underestimate how tiring 150 overs in the field is, both emotionally and physically. To have to go out there under those circumstances with the scoreboard pressure is a big ask.

"I understand the mantra of wanting to be aggressive but it's clear the pitch is getting slower, the bowlers are bowling an impeccable line, and you're going to just have to be disciplined," she said.
