Reviews are really tricky because you don't want to let the emotion take over and South Africa did.

  4. South Africa reviewpublished at 38.3 overs

Sophie Devine is struck on the pad after an attempted sweep to Nonkululeko Mlaba.

It's given not out on field, but South Africa fancy another look at this.

That is such a shame for New Zealand and Halliday, she was batting so well and contributed a lot to the innings.

    Spoke too soon...

Brooke Halliday's entertaining knock comes to an end and she rather gives it away, in truth, after she chips delivery pushed through by Nonkululeko Mlaba into the air.

The South Africa spinner claims the catch.

Nadine de Klerk goes through some variations against these two set batters for New Zealand and manages to keep things under some sort of a control.

Brooke Halliday is closing in on half-century here.

  8. NZ 179-3published at 37 overs

Sophie Devine has the bit between her teeth now, sensing now is the moment to go after the bowling.

She steps down the pitch to Sune Luus and hammers it wide of long on. The South Africa spinner is thrown off her length a touch and Devine then slog sweeps it for for back-to-back fours.

There's a run-out chance at the end of the over after a communication mix-up but Sinalo Jafta fumbles behind the stumps when the ball is thrown to the striker's end.

Brooke Halliday's ability to play both side of the wicket has really freed her up to play the spin. Maybe South Africa missed a trick by playing a spin at the start.

Efficient farming of the strike by both Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday from the bowling of Masabata Klaas.

New Zealand are a gritty team and they wont like how they performed in that first game.

Been some fluent shots in Sophie Devine's knock. She has five fours in her innings thus far - two of which came back to back.

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has made a few tweaks to her field amid this sweepathon from Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday.

Devine brings up her half-century off 66 balls with a punch to deep mid-on for a single.

Chloe Tryon got the breakthrough but her three overs have cost 24 runs so Laura Wolvaardt whips her out of the attack as he returns to seam in the form of Masabata Klaas.

Sophie Devine works Klaas through mid-wicket for four, then later in the over the left-handed Brooke Halliday flicks one off her hip for another boundary.

    Easy pickings.

South Africa are flying through their overs. I barely have time to speak.

  18. NZ 138-3published at 31 overs

Sune Luus holds her line a little more tightly than Chloe Tryon, but Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday are able to work the ball into the gaps.

New Zealand's players sat in the dug out are laughing and joking with each other so they seem fairly relaxed with their position.

Brooke Halliday has really come out and shone. She is a really hard batter the play against, she is so strong on that sweep shot, just a freebie.

She sweeps and reverse sweeps Chloe Tryon for four on both sides of the wicket at the start of the over and off the penultimate deliver.
